FantasyScore Staff Sunday Cash Plays Week 5 (1 Viewer)

With Week 5 under way for the 2015 NFL season, we’re going to take a look what the Footballguys staff is doing on the FantasyScore website.

You can find all the lineups here, as we take a look at a few specific things in this piece.

Staff Trends

Bell & Charles Show

Every one of the seven staff members surveyed everybody but one had either Jamaal Charles or Le’Veon Bell. Of the one who didn’t, Alex Miglio, the money was spent on Aaron Rodgers, Rob Gronkowski and Keenan Allen, buffered by Dion Lewis and DeMarco Murray (he also went with four wide receivers). The rest of the staff went with value at quarterback (Blake Bortles/Josh McCown), tight end (Delanie Walker), and running backs (Dion Lewis and Danny Woodhead). In all cases, Bell or Charles were not the sole stud on the roster, so there was still value to be found and money enough to support Bell/Charles’ production.

Lots of Gronks

A lot of the staff paid for Rob Gronkowski to be their tight end. While his price might be high ($7800, 500 more than Jimmy Graham who has to be about the worst value out there right now), his production is far beyond what any other tight end is getting and he’s

pretty much a flex wide receiver. Delanie Walker and Owen Daniels were the other two tight ends on the list.

Glaring Omissions

Only one Julio Jones, no Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr, AJ Green or Demaryius Thomas and a handful of Larry Fitzgerald appeared in this week’s lineups. The staff clearly wanted some upside there (we’ll hit that in a second) while putting their money into running back, quarterback and tight end. It’s a bit of a shift in what we have been seeing across DFs sites, as people were riding receivers to winnings.

Diamonds in the Rough

Dion Lewis ($5700) is averaging just over 19 points a game, making him a better value than Eddie Lacy ($7800), Matt Forte ($7900) and Justin Forsett ($6800) all of whom cost more and produce less. Lewis is a boon for owners because he’s so involved in the passing offense.

Kamar Aiken ($2000) will be the No. 1 receiver for Baltimore this week, and faces a Cleveland defense which might be without Joe Haden. Aiken has been up and down, so there is risk, but when Steve Smith went out last week, Joe Flacco used Aiken early and often. Expect the same with Smith out this week as well.

Do Allen Hurns ($2600) and Allen Robinson ($4900) even count here anymore? I suppose they have to given their prices versus production. If you don’t want to spend a lot on a receiver, they have been very productive and they face a juicy Tampa Bay disaster at defense.
