I'm sure many, many folks around here found FF glory with this guy.

I wasn't one of them. :kicksrock:
My greatest FF season (1999) I had Faulk on my team. It was Edge's rookie year so I had him too.Actually, that whole team was stoopid. Faulk, Edge, Bruce, and Harrison. I forget who else was on the roster, but it didn't matter.

Done for the year, or done retired?
You are right. I had read where Faulk was going to be placed on IR, have surgery, work in TV for a year, then try a comeback in 2007.
In other words, his pro career is over. I just don't see how he could possibly bring it.
But, this way, the Rams pay him for 2006.
This is true. I can't blame him for that. Of course my season tickets went up, again. Maybe I can. :hot: ;)

I've played fantasy football for 15 years. I won once. Thank you Marshall Faulk

(along with the rest of the Class of 99 including Warner, Levens, Harrison, MRob, Muhammed)

Here's to you Marshall. :banned:

Hopefully now he'll have the free time to focus on curing the dreaded ball cancer. :bag:

HOF and most deserving....
I think the arguments for and against him as a HOF have merit.I lean towards HOFer, because the NFL HOF seems to value dominance over a short period compared to above average for a long period (like MLB).

Marshall Faulk was certainly one of the top 3 best RBs in the league from '99 to '01 and is only one of two RBs in the 1000-1000 club. He set a (then) TD record and has a SB ring and still holds the total yards from scrimmage in a single season record.

Thread title is misleading "Faulk Officially Done". First, nothing is official yet. And we are strictly talking about 2006. The "I just don't see how he could possible bring it" opinion is hardly an official declaration of Faulk's retirement. Don't get me wrong, this very well could have been the last time Marshall steps on the field, but let's have some accuracy. ESPN's article title is "Surgery likely for Rams' Faulk, could end his career". Surgery is not even definite.

12,000+ rushing yd and 100 TD just on the ground.Another 750+ catches which is more than some HOF WRs have for almost another 7,000 yds thru the air. Another 36 TD to total 136 for his career.

Jerry Rice had over 20,000 yds receiving and Faulk almost matched the number in his total yds.

SB ring and another appearance...where is the debate on both sides? Sorry KRS, you know I love your posts but I just couldn't get off that statement. And you say you are for him making the HoF but I can't see an arguement against him getting in...1st ballot I might add.

A kid I went to High School with was recruited by San Diego State to be the QB when Marshall was there. Too bad he was into drugs and drinking more than he was into football. Who knows what could happened. Best of luck in the future for Marshall, seems like a great guy.

This guy is an absolute hall of famer.

I can't think of anyone who changed the offensive game more than Bill Walsh and Marshal Faulk. Faulk practicaly introduced the idea of mis-matches.

As far as players who have mada a quantum leap in the game you've got LT on Defense and Marshal on Offense.

:goodposting: Marshall also made an impact on how the RB position could be used to exploit a defense. He had a special skill set to leverage, and I can't think of anyone before him that was so multi-faceted. The numbers prove that out. HOF players often are ones that revolutionalize the game, and I put him in that category, sort of like LT did at linebacker.

NFL aside, I loved watching him at San Diego State.

What a talent.
I got lucky enough to see him a few times in SD his last year there and watched the city stand behind him with his entry into the NFL. He was an absolutely sick talent, a class act before and after NFL riches, and even though I hate the Rams I've never once rooted against him personally. His commercial for Madden (or whatever videogame) "I do not fumble" was classic. I'll miss him.I also feel old now that a player I knew in college, younger than me, has had a HoF career and is done.

Thurman Thomas. Who also should be a HOFer.

Yes, Marshall definately deserves to be in th HOF. Some people around here seem to make their decisions of whether a player should be in the HOF based on fantsy performances rather than NFL performances. I don't want to put words in any one elses mouth, but I think that may be the angle KRS was coming from. I laugh when people make HOF judgements based on fantasy numbers. This is all a mute point with Marshall though, I agree that he will get in on the first ballot.

Maybe, but Faulk caught nearly 300 more passes over the roughly the same number of games. Agreed that Thomas should be HOF.

Welcome to the HOF Marshall.
My dear Lord, I'm hoping he's done, and doesn't try a "comeback." He's broken down. What more does he have to prove? He is a shoo-in for the HoF. Leave with dignity, Marshall!

LinkTHIS LACK OF ELECTRIC THING HAS REALLY CRAMPED MY STYLE!!! :hot:

A moment of silence... yes another... and another...

Faulk was a load of fun to both watch and be a part of fantasy football...

Does anyone know what kind of reconstruction his knee needs? Reconstruction is usually for torn ligaments, but the doctors would've noticed torn ligaments in one of his surgeries from earlier this year.
