LINKToday's listening was as excellent as I expected!
On my known songs, a shout-out to the Counting Crows song. While it wouldn't be my #1 from them, I like it a lot despite its being overplayed, and I'm glad to see that smelly guy get some love in the countdown. Also love both of the Wilco picks. "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" was on my medium list with another Wilco we haven't seen (and won't). "Jack and Jill" by Raydio was a song I didn't realize I knew, but I was happy to hear it once I recognized it. And if you choose a Stevie Wonder, Beach Boys, Nina Simone, Big Star, Temptations, or Bob Dylan song, just consider it auto-liked. OK, maybe 85% of Bob Dylan songs.
I put any Run the Jewels song into an auto-like but never remember which ones I know and which I don't. I loved today's pick.
On the new-to-me songs, I give a heart to "Hypnotize" by Notorious B.I.G., "24 Frames" by Jason Isbell, "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" by Nancy Sinatra, and, in the biggest shock to me, "Cemetery Gates" by Pantera.
But my favorite where-you-been-all-my-life selection from today was "B.O.B." by Outkast. Yes, I've heard of the song and know I should know it. Maybe I've heard it before but it's hard to imagine I would forget it. Frenetic, almost out-of-control but somehow also repetitive so never slipping out of control, what the hell is this is this techno is it rap is it punk is it gospel? What a ****ing ride. Left me breathless. Instantly onto my "favorites" playlist. Wth.

That's how I do it most days too. Just hit random on the playlist and look later who took things.I haven't been tracking who drafted what so that hopefully keeps me honest and objective.

Dammit, now this got awkward.
If I remember right, B.O.B. made it's way onto the Soulcycle playlist in GP4. That means nobody probably heard it.I just looked up B.O.B. In 2000, I was listening to almost nothing but power pop and suicidal singer-songwriters, so I know why I missed it.

You listen to the other Deftones tunes, or you mostly catch up with the day's picks?

Also tomorrow, another of our top contenders for "one-hit wonder" (artist with most points from a single song without receiving votes for any other song) will see their dreams shattered.
I was thinking and couldn't remember the couple that Mac suggested. I was was just listening to some Deftones, and what I came up with as next step suggestions were off of White Pony: Change (In the House of Flies), Digital Bath, and Knife Prty. I think Passenger has been on other draft playlists, so I guess if you like most of those, you will probably like most of the album. If not, hey - I'm just glad you liked the one song, and gave others a listen!Ooooooo...now I wonder if we can get Krista into the Deftones. Let's try...My Own Summer, Headup, and 7 Words.
I listened to these today, as well as checking out "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" again. Still enjoyed that one a whole lot, and "7 Words" was another winner for me. Good bass part and "groove," which is an odd word for this type of music, I suppose.
I liked the instrumentation of the other two, especially "Headup," but couldn't get into them due to the vocals. "Headup" was too much Cookie Monster, and My Own Summer was too breathy. Batting .500 on these is pretty damn good!

I thought I was caught up on those. I listened to and posted about the other three that MAC had suggested. Were there more?

Tomorrow features four (4!) double-up battles! Both of the members of one of our couples/family (the Rannouses, Eephus/ditkaburgers, OH/me, KarmaPolice/Ilov80s) are in separate battles tomorrow.

I saw her perform at the Merlefest a couple years ago, and she was very good.So Amythyst Kiah is a folky-blues artist, who I saw once open for Brandi Carlile in Forest Hills, and she was in a group for a bit called "Our Native Daughters," also a folk-y kind of group.
Ah, I read that wrong. Only 2 of the 4 power couples are in these battles, with 4 artists doubled?I'm shuked right now as two who else would take the artist I did. Fittingly, I will guess @shuke since NV isn't in this thing.
You're not necessarily in a double-up. We'll see.

So IF I understand this (probably still not), IF it's our team I am doubled with Shuke and 80s is doubled with Mac with some hip-hop.

I have confused shuke, you, and me so far.

I worded it poorly, but both members of one of the power couples are in a battle with third and fourth parties. Members of other power couples might also battle someone, since there are four people total who will be battling, but only one power couple has both members in battles.

I find this humorous cause while we xmas decorated tonight my wife kept yelling at our 10 year old and I because he wanted a pearl jam playlist. For some reason 'I got memories, I got ****' doesn't put her in the Christmas spirit. Sounds like a her problem.I figured....PJ is more of a middle age/codger bandAh, might as well update this one, too, from November 11:

It’s when someone votes for Crosby AND Stills (Nash and Young are ineligible).I still don't know what Deja Vote is, and I actually DO read krista's posts

If I were to pick an Isbell song, it wouldn't be this one. But props to @Dr. Octopus for recognizing him.
God, I haven't heard this charming little ditty in 100 years. How charming? Ralph Stanley - aka "King Of Death In The Most Awful Way Imaginable Songs" - covered it and then went and shot his dog just to make himself feel more hopeful. Oh, it sounds all sprightly and jangly - until you listen to the lyrics. Nina Simone should have covered it.
Youre doing something right.....my 10 yo is into 21 pilots, and Ayo and Teo...that stupid Rolex song!.....I'll take PJ over those two all day long!I find this humorous cause while we xmas decorated tonight my wife kept yelling at our 10 year old and I because he wanted a pearl jam playlist. The most iconic drum opening in rock history. EVERYTHING on this record works. It's mixed perfectly. That double-tracked clavinet (playing just a little bit off each other time-wise - listen closely; it's like an echo). Those horns. And that voice, boys and girls. This is as good as music gets.
