Favorite days of the year... (1 Viewer)

I'd be interested to see commentary here. I would personally rank it 7th:

1 - Christmas

2 - Labor Day (my wife's family has the BEST get-together on this day - 12-hours of barbequing & Cubans!)

3 - Fantasy Draft Day for Re-Draft league

4 - Daughter's birthday (I know this should be higher, but I'm being honest)

5 - Super Bowl

6 - Opening Day in the NFL

7 - NFL Draft Day

Right now - I feel like Morgan Freeman at the end of Shawshank Redemption - "I'm so excited, I find I can barely sit still to hold a thought in my head!!"

You got those backwards.

meh...the draft is overated. Basically you have 6 hours of excited. I put the divisional playoff weekend ahead of it. Opening nite doubleheader gives it a close run for the money and definately Thanksgiving Day weekend.

Shouldn't you just put "I hate Dynasty" in your sig at this point?

It's exciting for us :bag: types.

It's never my favorite day of the year, but it's definitely something that I look forward to. I think most of the appeal of FF is watching uncertainty become certainty. Right now we don't know where any of these prospects are going. In a week, we'll know where all of them are going (and we'll have new uncertainty in the form of "How will Calvin Johnson do on the Raiders?" and other such questions).

Draft Day is steadily climbing my list.

In the Top 10 (Family Holidays / Anniversaries / Birthdays are excluded):

Thanksgiving is tough to top, yes even above Christmas. Great meal, time with family, and 3 football games (and a nap - thanks Detroit). It's also right around my birthday (oops, broke Rule 1).

NFL Opening Sunday (Week 1) - A dozen games in one day and I'm in heaven once again.

Fantasy Draft Weekend(s) - I love to draft a team. 3-4 hours of football and deciding much of my fate (and some fandom) for the next 4 months.

NFL Draft Day (Day 1) - 100 Gifts coming every 10 minutes, plus drama. Now I actually know some of these players and watch their fate start to unfold in addition to seeing how the Eagles do.

Week 1 Monday Night Doubleheader - It's about time.

NFL Opening Day - Real football after weeks of exhibitions. Finally.

Christmas - All about the kids (and the church part too). Good food day. And football, college or NFL.

Halloween - Women in costume, kids running around on sugar highs, and chocolate. Plus it's football season.

New Year's Eve/Day - 24 hour period with a party, drinking, food and football.

Super Bowl Sunday - See New Year's but less time and less football. Good ads we hope.

Easter - See Christmas, but minus the football. :whoosh:

The start of the NFL Season (March 2nd this year) with free agency is up there, topped by the NFL Schedule day, but that's like the release of who gets into March Madness - the moment passes quickly.

This may not be the expected answer (3rd favorite, 8th favorite, etc.), but it's simply true for me:

this is easily one of the most productive days at home that I have all year. As easy as it may be at times for me to be a lazy sob, I can't lay back on the couch and watch every dragging second of the draft....so, I turn up the volume and do whatever I need to do around the house...projects, clean, organize, laundry, dishes, projects, cook enough food for a week, etc., etc..

This is how I rank them :whoosh:

1. Thanksgiving: spending quality time with the family, great food, and football.

2. Draft Day: I look forward to this every year.

3. Opening week of football: Football is back and can my Raiders win more than 4 games.

4. Superbowl: A good reason to get together and watch a great event.

5. Halloween: I have always loved Halloween.

6. Christmas: Another great holiday to be with the family and for me its all about seeing the peoples faces when they open up their presents.

7. Fourth of July: Love shooting fireworks.

8. New Years Day: It's alright but not my favorite holiday. Atleast it gives me a paid day off from work.

1) Yearly trip to Florida or some other beach destination

2) Christmas

3) Thanksgiving

4) When the wife flies back to Columbus and I'm a bachelor for a week :)

5) Opening day for the NFL season - Actually this should rank right after vacation

6) NFL Draft Day 1 - Anticipation is greater than the event

7) A good bowel movement - I love this more than sex

8) Fantasy League Drafts

1 - Thanksgiving. My wife and I decided three years ago to forgo the family visits and have a "just the two of us" Thanksgiving. Nice quiet day, great food, and football all day. Hard to beat.

2 - Division Playoff Weekend. Always 4 great games.

3 - X-Mas eve / day / day after - we see my family x-mas eve, spend x-mas day alone, and see her family the day after. A fun three days.

4 - Redraft League day (in person) - get together with my buddies, drink beer, and do our yearly league draft.

5 - NFL opening weekend.

6 - Week 2 of the NCAA tourney - like division week in football. All the games are good ones.

7 - NFL Draft weekend.

8 - Yearly spring vacation (which is happening right now) - we always take a week off in April to lounge around and work in the yard.

9 - Annual trip - Fall vacation is usually a trip somewhere. Vegas this year.

10 - prettymuch every other day of the year.

1. Opening weekend NFL

2. Opening weekend NCAA football

3. Re- Draft College fantasy league

4. Re- Draft (reserve) NFL fantasy league

5. NFL Draft

6. 1st 2 days of March Madness

7. NFL conference championship games

8. Superbowl (unless my team is in it, then it goes to #1)

9. NFL Divisional Playoffs

10. NFL wildcards

#1-5 could also be 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e................thats how close they are

I was wondering who would see that first. I waited to fix.

1. Christmas- only time entire family can gather together. About three days of drinking, wings, gambling, and pigskin for the men. Can't beat it.

2. Thanksgiving- Great food, family is around, plenty of pigskin. Also serves as a reminder that Christmas is right around the corner

3. Memorial Day Weekend- In addition to being a football junkie, I also really enjoy lacrosse(played in high school/college). Memorial Day weekend is the Final Four of Men's College Lacrosse. Combine that with a day off and some BBQ.

4. NFL Draft Weekend- the oasis in the vast desert of no football. Some close buds gather and mock each other's favorite teams' selection. Good times

Just based on sports days alone, its not even in my top ten. Several days of the NCAA tournament, the Super Bowl, opening weekend, NFL playoffs all go ahead of it.

this is as close to my list as I've seen....1)Thanksgiving...we host 30+ family members for Thanksgiving every year, and there isn't a better day all year, for me food, football and family baby!

2)9/9/07..."real football"...I was watching NFL Europa yesterday and my wife asked "who the hell is playing football NOW!?!?

3)Xmas slides in here for me...a tradition since high school, my sister gets to host this yearly event... the 30+ of us trek to Westminster and enjoy watching the kids go crazy opening gifts---good times!

4)live FF drafts...there are uaually a few of these, none better or worse than the other

5)Opening Thursday....slips ahead of the draft, only because it's been such a long, sllooowwww summer!

6)NFL Draft...X-mas for the dynasty :kicksrock: ...and I own more dynasty teams than 95+% of you, so this is a big deal!

7)Wild Card Weekend...while this means FF season is over, it allows me to just watch football for the pure enjoyment for the first time all year, w/o having to root for/against any players going that day

8)Super Bowl...usually means a family get together of some sorts, which is always nice---hopefully the football is good

9)New Years Eve/Day...a notch behind the SB, this should be higher on my list but I'm usually "bowled over" by now---is 50 Bowl games far behind! :bag:

10)Easter (egg hunt!)...now a tradition for my grandson, we took his 8mo old sister this year---I see this happening for years to come, as the kids/grand children of the members of my country club gather for what looks like the start of the Boston marathon...only this "race" is over in about 38 seconds!
