Favorite deep dynasty RBs (1 Viewer)

Posted this in The Audible thread, but felt it deserved it's own thread. Here's my list, who are some of your favs?

Ravens

Jalen Parmele  one of my favorite dynasty RBs

Curtis Steele instinctive, low center of gravity, saw him at Tx v Nation game last year - super deep dynasty only

Falcons

Antone Smith gets small, bowling ball with legs, initial quickness, durability a concern - super deep dynasty only

Gartrell Johnson - going to fall off this list if I don't see more from him this year, willing to give another chance in deep dynasty

Bengals

Cedric Peerman - see Gartrell Johnson above

Panthers

Tyrell Sutton - instinctive, quick, agile, good receiver, versatile (even played FB for CAR even though he's not a big back) could start for other teams in the league IMHO

Josh Vaughan - strength, pad level, determination - super deep dynasty league only

Browns

Montario Hardesty - ranked just on physical talent Hardesty is a top 10 RB - elite gifts but an injury history that reads like Infinite Jest.

Broncos

Jeremiah Johnson - could be a poor man's Mike Goodson under John Fox, durability a huge concern, super deep dynasty only.

Brandon Minor - instincts, grinder, super deep dynasty leagues only.

Cowboys

Lonyae Miller - straight line speed, good receiver out of the backfield, deep dynasty prospect.

Colts

Mike Hart - determination, leg drive, low center of gravity, durability a concern.

Packers

Dimitri Nance - saw him at Shrine Game 2 yrs ago and impressed me, low, leg drive, gets to top speed quickly, instincts, deep dynasty prospect

Jaguars

Deji Karim - saw him at TX v Nation game 2 yrs ago and impressed me, change of direction, middle class MJD, center of gravity, leg drive, power.

Saints

Lynell Hamilton - always loved him since freshmen year at SDSU years ago, tough, instinctive, durability a big concern, was going to be a bigger part of the ground game last year but got hurt.

Dolphins

Kory Sheets - great stiff arm, good receiver, last year I'll hold onto him if he doesn't show something.

Steelers

Isaac Redman - love the power and heart

Jonathan Dwyer - talent is there but needs to mature and be more patient

Buccaneers

Kregg Lumpkin - former Bulldogs backs get a lot of love from me, Lumpkin gets to top speed quickly, runs with some pop, last year I'll hold onto him - deep dynasty leagues only.

Titans

Herb Donaldson - power back who loves contact, super deep dynasty league only.

Redskins

Shawnbrey McNeal - change of direction skills, decent speed, receiver out of backfield, super deep dynasty leagues only.

Keiland Williams - I'm an LSU fan and have always loved Williams more than Charles Scott (drafted by Eagles, cut, now on Giants PS). We saw Williams have some success last year but he also got in the doghouse with Shanny for mental mistakes.

Pearman destroyed it last preseason. Always thought he had skills to make it in NFL, but for some reason he couldn't cut it on a few teams before he got to Cincy. Even got cut by the Lions

Would you also be able to list your favorite deep dynasty rookie RBs? I heard a few of them on your previous Audible podcast, but didn't know if that was your full list....and it would be nice to have them listed along with those listed above.

Thanks!

Three most imporant words in retail business are, location, location, and location.

I think the three most important words for uncovering sleeper RBs are, talent, talent, and more talent. Ok I'll also add a healthy splash of opportunity.

Hardesty and Dwyer are head-and-shoulders above the rest of the pack listed in terms of talent. I sorta like Mike Hart as well but of those three I think Hardesty will have the most opportunity.Cecil is right on injury concerns but Montario will blow up if he gets his shot and stays healthy. I think Dwyer could also be huge if he matures and gets his shot. The Indy RB situation is ugly but Hart could be solid if not spectacular if he winds up getting a few starts.

Nance? Packers used Kuhn more in short yardage-or Starks last in the season.

He's a pretty deep sleeper.

Wow these are really deep. I need to find a league that has bigger roster sizes to hold most of these guys. Hardesty isn't available in most leagues because he was drafted high in dynasty leauges last season and Hillis' staying power is discredited because he's white (right or wrong). All I'm saying is that he might be a deep sleeper, but most people are expecting production out of him this season.

Peerman could get time this year because Benson isn't good (and might even get let go?) and for whatever reason coaches won't give Scott a chance to be the primary back. Peerman being the "Rookie Scouting Report" darling from two years ago is rostered by more owners than he would be otherwise.

Hart also looked very good briefly and appeared to be an excellent receiver when he played. I seem to also recall that the Colts owner was a big fan of Hart, which pretty much means he will get another shot when he's healthy. He's worth rostering if you can make room. If Colts keep Addai and/or draft a good RB prospect, then Hart could get buried pretty quick with Brown still poking around back there.

Sutton I like. I guess we are assuming DeAngelo will be gone... but even then you have two very good running backs ahead of him. Unless... Rivera takes the approach he took in 2010 and uses Sutton like Sproles and Goodson/Stewart rotate series similar to Tolbert/Mathews. If DeAngelo stays Sutton isn't worthy of a roster spot in most leagues.

The rest seem super deep. To be worthy of rostering you either need to have roster sizes over 30, or take over a serious rebuild project team.

Benson is good, he's just been overworked. Scott hasn't been given more carries because he can't handle them. He wouldn't last half a season.

No love/hate on Harvey Unga or Kahlil Bell in Chicago?

LenDale White in Denver?

Danny Ware in NYG (a fav of mine)?

Curtis Brinkley in SD?

Stafon Johnson in TEN?

Not sure about the others, but Didn't Stafon Johnson get waived?
The Titans have waived injured rookie RB Stafon Johnson, the former Southern California standout whose college career was ended by a weightlifting accident that crushed his neck. Johnson dislocated his right ankle and broke his fibula Saturday night in the Titans' 20-18 loss at Seattle. Before Tuesday's move coach Jeff Fisher had said Johnson would be out up to 12 weeks recovering from surgery. The Titans replaced Johnson on the roster by signing Samkon Gado. Gado has played in 41 career games with 268 carries for 972 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has played for Green Bay, Houston, Miami and St. Louis most recently.(Updated 08/17/2010).

Stafon is still on the roster, I assume as a practice squadder/IR guy. http://www.titansonline.com/team/roster.html?year=2010I dont want any part of pile of goo Lendale (achilles) and Danny Ware is a proven fragile scrub.

Unga too one dimensional, doesn't get to top speed quick enough, footwork isn't goodBell lacks patience and visionWhite is done after Achilles' -- have heard from family members that he is serious about football and rehabbing well. Ware used to be a fav of mine (sucker for Bulldogs backs) but I gave up on him last year. Like his instincts and footwork but injury prone and running out of time. Brinkley lacks strength, change of pace back at bestJohnson has overcome some gruesome injuries, is working out with good friend Travelle Gaines, and I am cheering for the guy. However, he did not look good at the Senior Bowl last year and his film from USC isn't that good either.

When Starks was a healthy scratch after coming off PUP it was Nance getting his spot on gameday. I'll hold onto him in deep dynasty leagues because I like what I've seen on film, at the Shrine Game, and in preseason.

Parmele? I don't see it even if Rice were to get hurt.
Parmele has looked good in the preseason running/receiving the ball. He looked good this year in the regular season returning kicks. I'll continue to defend him, but time is running out for him to produce. I know people inside the Miami organization that regret letting him get away.

Good stuff Cec - but arguably several of these guys won't make the 53-man rosters with all the rookies coming into the league this year.

Names I like from above to survive:

Ware NYG

Parmele BAL

McKnight NYJ

Hardesty CLE

Peerman CIN

Sutton CAR

Mike Hart INDY

Nance GB

Karim JAX

Hamilton NO

Sheets MIA

Redman or Dwyer (not sure if both) PIT

McNeal WASH

Steele in BAL is a darkhorse, but he's small.

I own Rice on all three of my teams and I also have Parmalee on all 3. I have either kept or picked him up for the following reasons other than the Rice handcuff:Talent- not sure that he is a #1 bell cow back but I think he has enough talent to produce when given the chanceSystem- Cam has proven to put up numbers for RB's in fantasy, I would rather have a backup in a system that should produceMcGahee & McClain- thinking and hoping that McGahee moves on and even when McClain was racking up yards two years ago I was not impressed. He seemed to be able to take what was there but not do anything on his own. Three yards and a cloud of dust is not a feature RBStill on the Raven roster- there is a reason that he is still on the roster and I'm thinking it is more for replacing Willis when he moves on than for being a kick returnerCecil- putting faith in Cecil and other football evaluator opinions that Parmalee can ball if given the chanceAlso sticking with the back up RB theme I like Dixon and Ringer for many of the same reasons as above. Basically both the 49'rs and Titans are built to run the ball and Dixon and Ringer have both looked good in limited action..

lexy hilliard? he's not going to start in miami but its likely he ends up the rb2 there. reminds me exactly of 2 other RB/FB tweeners, snelling and tolbert. i have nothing good to say about his talent, but in his defense, no one had anything good to say about the other two before they put up rb 2 numbers off and on over the last 2 years. am i on to something here or is he just not good enough?

I drafted G-Johnson over K-Britt............not looking to good right now.

I have Parmele on both rosters

pick it up........

Not seeing much here especially when Casserly was saying that 18 RB's could be drafted between rounds 2 to 4 in this draft. I think having a 4th round pick might be the better way to go than any of these guys unless a really deep league like my 24 team one I do.

Lex didn't get a single carry last year, so I'm not sure that MIA likes him that much.

I mentioned this last summer, the the Ravens told Steele at the beginning of camp that he'll need to add muscle for them to give him a serious shot next year. So he knew heading into last year's camp that he was just playing for a chance to impress enough to work for 2011. Watch this year to see if he does it.

that doesn't eliminate him from the category were talking about here though. snelling and tolbert had 13, 15, 13, 25 carries in each of their first 2 years. parmele had 7 total carries so far in his 2 year career

I thought Lex looked pretty good the year before last when he was backing up Ricky Williams... even tried to acquire him in the 16 teamer I'm in last offseason but thankfully it didn't happen. I do think he could possibly emerge as a short yardage/GL compliment but it'll probably take an injury or two for him to get the touches. Him not getting a single carry last year doesn't really bode well for his future in Miami, IMO.

Anyone holding on to James Davis in WAS? He seems to be in a better spot than McNeal depending on this upcoming draft and any new RBs brought on, right? One injury away from serious time maybe?(Rotoworld) According to Redskins RBs coach Bobby Turner, Ryan Torain must improve in "critical" short-yardage situations and in "scoring." Analysis: Turner's comments don't bode well for Torain's chances of establishing himself as the Redskins' goal-line horse. Turner also wants to see improved play-making and situational awareness out of Torain. The coaching staff's comments this offseason suggest Torain will be part of a committee attack in 2011.

Torain racked up some big points last season pretty quick, but we all know the health concerns and sterotype he has. Any realistic chance Davis gets past Williams at some point or is he dynasty fodder?

Go watch some Tyrell Sutton videos on YouTube and you'll know why I think he is one of the top 35 running backs in the league. If he ever gets a chance to get 200 caries I think he could top 1400 total yards.

Last year I picked up Tolbert as one of the Audible's favorites ... thanks Cecil and Sigmund. Also picked up Sutton, unfortunately Goodsen was the guy to emerge in Carolina instead which don't think many saw coming. Maybe there is still hope for Sutton but it is getting harder to hold a roster spot for him.

Based on the statements regarding Moreno, if the Broncos don't add a RB (they probably will), I'm liking Jeremiah Johnson as a sleeper to hold.

Also like Peerman, the carries have to be adding up on Benson (assuming the Bengals resign him) and it seems they don't see Scott as the answer. Bengals definitely the type of team (cheap) to just go with someone like Peerman.

Depends on how you define 'deep' but...

Alex Green (GBP - R)

Joe McKnight (NYJ - 2nd)

Allen Bradford (TBB - R)

Charles Scott (NYG - 2nd)

Steve Slaton (HOU - 4th)

Jeremiah Johnson (DEN - 3rd)

Lonyae Miller (DAL - 2nd)

Expect that the first three guys will all have at least a couple VBD+ seasons and that Green and Bradford could be very good. Scott, Slaton, Johnson and Miller are more speculative IMO.

Cecil, do you intend to update your thoughts on these guys any time soon?
yep! going to post thoughts after undrafted free agents and veteran free agents are signed. ALSO, going to be tweeting my favorite undrafted free agents (before the lockout is over)....I'll post the list here too.
