Come on, we have all seen these movies. We all have kids, or nieces, or cousins or whatever that have played these endlessly. It is ok for even big tough FFA guys to have a favorite princess, so who is yours?

some reasonable criteria would be the attitude of said princess, her heroic qualities, the quality of their film, how much you identify with the prince in her life (if there is one) etc, etc. Let us know why you chose who you did!

let's try and keep this a discussion of the merits of animated princesses, and not drag it down to where it does not belong. TIA.

* PLEASE NOTE - Elsa and Anna have not officially been crowned princesses, but hat is supposed to happen this year so we will allow them in for the purposes of this poll. I think that given the popularity of their film and how recent it is they may get some votes.

With two girls, 5 and 3, all of these are pretty much a daily topic in my house.

Ariel edges out Rapunzel for me.

ariel is prolly my #1

i have not seen tangled yet, though

arial, anna, belle, merida

i think that's my list

Will Elsa be officially crowned a princess? Not sure how this works, but Elsa is technically a queen and Anna is the princess.

I voted Elsa just because she isn't your typical Disney princess ... She's a man-hating feminist who puts sisterly love first -- Definitely better qualities than Rapunzel and her hair.

(btw jk)

The best Disney movie IMO is Princess and the Pauper. That movie had some kickass songs. Hands down one of the top three (if not the best) Disney princess movies.

"Technically" doesn't count for a few names on that list, right?

Jasmine and Belle are always perfect at Disney. If I had to pick the animated version I have to be honest... When Elsa lets her hair out its a solid scene.

they were both princesses to start, and mulan was not techincally a princess i do not think, nor was belle

you don;t have to be a daughter of the king princess in the film to be a Disney Princess

what is notable is that rumors are both Anna and Elsa are gong to be crowned official princesses, which would make Frozen the only film with 2 Disney Princesses in it

you njust can't put a girl in a fancy getup and call her a Disney Princess. It is a franchise, only Disney can annoit someone a princess, and they don;t all make the cut.

Sorry, your entry is null and void
 Disney owns John Carter, Dejah is a princess in John Carter ... Disney Princess.
disney owns toy story, but jessie ain't no princess

neither is Tinkerbell, though she was at first then they removed her.

The poll is the complete lineup of Disney certified princesses, correct?

Excepting the two frigid chicks who will get crowned later this year...

I saw Cinderella and Snow White as a kid. None of the others.

Cinderella I guess.
aladdin is cool, unless you hate robin williams

brave is cool too

i assume everyone watches every pixar movie, possibly excluding sequels
Just looked at the Pixar list. I've seen: Monster's Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

I saw Shark Tales, the one with DeNiro. Oh, and Lion King. That's probably about it.

I usually just watch ones with animals as the main characters now that I think about it.

lol

I voted the one from Brave... reminded me of my niece. Also seems like the most self-sufficient and kick-### of the group- I'm happy for my daughter to try to be like her and not some of those other sissies.

there was a whole issue with her because for her coronation disney made her all sparkly and a lot of people got mad, they liked her for not being the sparkly girlie type

disney quickly got rid of disco merida in favor of the one people liked

i have learned a lot about princesses while researching for this thread

Yeah my 5 y.o. loves the only two we've seen in theaters, Brave and Frozen. Disney has definitely shifted away from needing a prince to save the heroine plot.

I could do without her shooting her bow & arrow at me from across the room (Xmas gift), but whatever.

lol

i read that marida was the first "princess" without a love interest in her film

Elsa would be the second. Seems disney is growing up a bit

Is Anna the first princess to be jilted?

Jasmine is the obvious choice.

Also, you added Elsa and Anna but no where do you see Nala? You're probably just rigging it because Lion King is the best Disney movie of all time!

was that in the movie, and/or... wasn't there also a doll that came out that was all barbied out with skinny waist and coiffed hair that drew the ire of the fans as well?

yeah, it was not in the movie

when a new movie girl does well they may make her an official "Disney Princess"

when they do this they hold a cerimony for her. As part of that they released some new Merida stuff with her looking all princessy. They quickly said "it was not a redesign, it was just her in a party dress" after everyone freaked out

a coronation?
