Favorite Movie Soundtrack (1 Viewer)

So I was watching The Big Chill last night and it got me thinking about great movie soundtracks. I was a little surprised that it did not rate in Rolling Stone's top-25 movie soundtracks, but to each his own, I suppose.

Certain soundtracks seem to define a generation, either for the era they depict or when they were released: Saturday Night Fever, Purple Rain, The Graduate, American Graffiti, Singles, etc.

What is your favorite movie soundtrack? I am too lazy to make a poll, but maybe after we have enough nominations, someone can put one together.

My father is 66. Growing up, there was always a radio on. For me, even though I'm only in my 30s, American Graffiti is the best soundtrack of all-time.

Old school

Breakfast Club (Simple Minds Don't forget about me)

Live and Let Die (James Bond Paul McCartney)

View to a Kill ( James Bond Duran Duran)

We talking original score or popular music?

Pop Music has to be Dazed and Confused. Great classic rock list.

Original score, I prefer Star Wars.

Serious answer:

Pulp Fiction and Dazed and Confused are probably my favorites, followed by Boogie nights.
came here to say the same two, pulp and dazed

Growing up, these were the soundtracks that everyone listened to death:

The Crow

Last Action Hero

Forrest Gump

Dazed and Confused vol 1 and 2

Tarantino usually puts together a great group of songs.Same goes for Sofia Coppola and Wim Wenders. Lars von Trier had a nice run with classic rock stuff... but I can't watch his stuff any more.

First one that always comes to mind for me is Repoman.

Good call whoever said 24 Hour Party People... I was a big Factory records fans- loved that movie and the music.

Big Chill makes me want to go Bluto.

If you want great songs that fit well I would go with The Graduate.

I also agree with the other poster who said that Quentin Tarantino typically does a great job in selecting songs for a film.

For best original score (just for the movie) Once Upon A Time In America is the greatest soundtrack in the history of cinema.
