Brett Favre has dropped his membership at Oneida Golf & Country Club in Green Bay. Bob Harlan, team president of the Packers and a member at Oneida, said he first heard that Favre dropped his membership about two weeks ago.
But Harlan said he wasn't sure it was a sign that Favre was starting to break ties to Green Bay in anticipation of announcing his retirement. Harlan said he hadn't talked to Favre about his golf membership recently, but wasn't alarmed or even surprised by the decision.
"Ed Thompson, who is on our board, called me a couple weeks ago and told me," said Harlan. "I said, 'You know, Ed, I'm not totally surprised because I know Brett hardly played at all this year.' Ed said, 'That's very true.' (Favre) used to go out with (Ryan) Longwell and Doug Pederson. And as he kind of lost his buddies, he just didn't go out as much."
A member of the Green Bay Country Club, the only other private golf course in the immediate Green Bay area, said Favre formerly belonged there. But he said he thought Favre dropped his membership at the Green Bay Country Club close to five years ago.
