Favre's ankle and hammy after Saints game (1 Viewer)

Wow, pretty incredible he went back out there with those two injuries. I've had two ankle sprains that looked very similar to that... and no way I could do anything immediately after, other than some good whining.

I dont think many are out there saying Favre is not tough. Selfish and overated? Maybe. But the guy is nails.

Wow, the guy is amazing to get taped up and go back out. Given the looks of that ankle, I wonder if he would have been healed in 2 weeks if the Vikes had won. Very lucky he didn't wreck a knee on that play.

Is it normal for NFL players to post pictures of their injuries (through their agents) to get sympathy?

Do other players get bruised like this and keep playing, without posting pictures?

Ouch. That had to hurt bad, and on a 40 year old body he had to have felt cripple out there.
He was taking tremendous shots all game. I know it's cool to bash Favre these days, but most QBs, even the ones we think are good because they put up fantasty stats, under that amount of pressure never would've been able to keep the Vikings in that game. I gained a lot of respect for him that game. Just watching him take shot after shot and would drive down the field and answer a New Orleans score with a score.

yea id be really surprised if this was actually him

the hamstring bruise would be no big deal but that ankle is ####in horrible

Lets see some pictures of Joe Kapp's and Jim Plunkett's injuries; Steve Grogan took some shots in his day too. Is Cook going to give us some pictures of Cutler's liver next?

What a "warrior" , F'ing stupid. Guy has been a pampered and celebrated millionaire for the majority of his lifespan, playing a game no less.. and he's the image of what every man should be.

Ridiculous.

Real deal

I really don't understand how anyone can be hating on Favre.

Came back and had one of his best years ever. Almost got them to the SB.

Not getting to the SB was on everyone BUT Favre. I'm sorry but the Vikings looked like they'd never been there before.

The plan was, run the ball, play action, Brett throws it 20-25 times a game. By week 8 the new plan was, Favre is now Mcnabb lets throw it 40-50 times a game. We can't run and the line has gone to ####. I'm sorry the guy is 40, to expect him to carry the team? But he did. The role players around Favre let him down. The fumbles. Mistakes. Penalties. He threw that INT because of that 5 yard penalty. Pushed them out of range, and now Brett had to be the hero. And when you try to be the hero sometimes you are, and sometimes you aren't. If they would have run the ball with AP and he loses 4 yards, no one is saying AP lost them a chance at the SB.

And I don't even like Favre. But the guy played at a crazy high level, he was a warrior, and he carried this team most of the year. While he didn't get to the SB, he should be pretty proud of this year and what he was able to do. With that o-line, with AP/chester, how does the QB throw it 40+ times? Childress is a mini Reid. He ditches the run and goes pass pass pass.

;) Look at me. I'm a tough guy. I play hurt.I'm guessing there are a lot of NFL players that play with similar injuries every week.

You do know this is a football message board so when people says he's tough, they are talking in the context of football. When people call him a warrior, they are talking in the context of football.

So you've established that's he's not the "man" that the Congressional Metal of Honor winners, the highest military decoration awarded by the United States government, are?

So stipulated.

I don't get the hate some are showing here. :goodposting:

It's not like Favre or Cook posted these pictures over at ESPN and made a big brouhaha over them.

Some staff writer for the Clarion Ledger ("Mississippi's #1 Web Site!") asked Cook for the pictures and they are on a website that I'm betting few outside of Mississippi have ever visited.

I did'nt read all the posts so,

#1 How do we know those are pictures of Favre.

#2 How long after the game were they taken? From experience you don't bruise up like that that quickly. Those look several days old.

Not so sure about that, Favre transcends football right? Read the comments from all of his followers, it is sad. Look at yourself, look at how you jump to his defense. If in fact the pictures are real, why would he take those pictures? Why would he pass those on to anyone at all, and especially let any sort of media get their hands on them? The reason why I linked the Medal of Honor Recipients (they didn't "win" them in raffles) is to give people some idea of real warriors. Not some attention-whoring, whiny, excuse filled, overrated, overexposed GUNSLINGER.

Please quote where I jumped to Favre's defense.TIA

Edit to add: Yup. I misspelled "Medal". Excellent use of bold and point well taken.

The hate here is absolutely breathtaking. I am quite impressed he still went out there and played after incurring all the hits did that damage. If you're not, whatever.

:lmao: Didn't you know that Brett Favre earned a purple heart in the Civil War? If that doesn't make him a hero, nobody is.

Personally I think Favre had a great year; I suppose better than most people expected, even his most ardent supporters. I am really sick of his agent's games though. We are definitely going to see a big play for him to come back, and I would love to see it, but the gun is already being raised to the head of Vikings ownership and the guardians of the Public trough. Brett Favre the Ultimate video game character. What will it be this time Mr Cook, 14 million; hmmm let's start there.

I don't question Favre's toughness. I think he's proven that throughout his career and his starting streak is very impressive. But if anyone believes that Favre and Bus Cook shared these photos not imagining they would somehow end up in the public they are pretty naive.

Some people leak photos of their game injury. Some people leak nudes or sex tapes. Maybe if we're lucky we'll get both here.

I am sure the Favre haters will have a hay day with this one because he is a "prima dona" for having his injuries posted etc. and I also know that everyone in the NFL suffers injuries on a weekly basis. That said when I saw this blog I gained a whole new respect for Favre and football players in general. I have always been a fan of Favres because of the way he played the game even though he played for the much hated Packers and him playing for the Vikings this year just made me enjoy watching him even more.

Are you really Scott Favre?Anyhow, ol' Brett could kick the shiet out of Bill Brasky.

Favre doesn't have a 22-year-old's body. He doesn't have a 32-year-old's body. It's amazing that he can take that kind of punishment and keep performing at a high level.

I'm not sure how people can turn this into a negative.

I take it you don't like football players being compared to the military.

I tore my quad muscle earlier this winter and still can't run on it (3 months ago) and the bruise looked identical to his leg injury. Say what you want about Favre but none of us would have still been in the game. As long as that is him, my respect even grew larger for the guy as a football player.

Not blaming Brett or hating....but I think you are quite naive if you don't think Cook knows what he is doing with these types of things.

And seems like there are more posts about the supposed haters or hate...than there actually is any hating on the guy in this thread.

:goodposting: The 'good ol boy' sure knows how to play the media as well. I'm amazed that people still eat it up.

still should have ran the ball. his adrenalin was kicked in and he wouldn't have felt it till after they won the game.

Wow. I see alot of fawning over these bruises. Are you sure most of you were at least HS athletes??? Those are pretty pedestrian bruises, at least nothing to remark that he played through circumstances s that would warrant this thread.

Favre's always been legendary for his toughness and amazing ability. He's also legendary for his postseason collapses and off season drama.

I don't think the hamstring is that big a deal, but I wouldn't call that ankle injury a "pedestrian bruise".

Looked bad...but have had worse...but the bruising is not always indicative of how bad an injury is.Could be bruised less and still be worse pain for the injured. The adrenaline likely had him hyped up and ready to go...tape it tight and worry about it later seems to be the mentality of many players...and Favre has always played through things.

Ain't that the truth. I don't bruise and I have had at least 3 broken bones were I knew it broken only because of the pain.
