Drafted Yesterday from the 6th spot. Think I have a team is either going to be really good or really bad, which is kind of what I was going for.
QB: Wilson (10), Roethlisberger (13), A.Smith (17)
Intention was to draft a qb between rounds 6 and 8, but by that time there were still 5 QB's on the board I'd be happy with (Brady, Romo, Kaep, Wilson and RGIII) and I had 3 teams on each side of me that didn't have a QB so I waited as long as possible. Nearly backfired when someone grabbed Romo as their backup QB but ended up with Wilson who I'm happy with, but not ecstatic about. Knew I'd have to come back quick with another QB selection and it came down to Roeth or Freeman. I have Freeman ranked slightly higher and a better week 12 matchup (when Wilson is on bye), but at this point I wanted someone I could plug in and count on a decent game. So Roethlisberger was a better fit. I'm not expecting much from Smith, but at a 17th round pick he's worth a shot. He was on pace for 3400/26 before getting hurt in a run first offense, and Reid is a very QB friendly coach. - Not a fan of these qb's. I see Wilson regressing this year, or Seattle as a whole. Harvin injury really hurts them. I see you playing QB carousel quite a bit. And just my preference, i hate having to do that.
RB: Spiller(1), MJD(3), Ivory (7), Leshoure (11), L.James (12), C. Polk (16)
I actually have Spiller as my RB1, slightly ahead of ADP, but I hate that he has a week 12 bye. I briefly considered passing, but the other RB options weren't great and I'm probably the only one who doesn't think Graham is worth a 1st rounder. I think MJD in the 3rd is straight value. No real competition and has proved he can produce without much of a supporting cast. Ivory could be one of those players that makes or breaks my team. If he stays healthy he could put up some very strong numbers. The Jets can run the ball as they put up 1700.12 with Greene and company last year. Leshoure and James are both players I think could succeed if the opportunity rises. Polk is a bit of lottery ticket. Philly should be running the ball a lot which means lots of hits on RB's which means they might distribute carries more often. - Solid backfield here. Love MJD in round 3, hard to believe he lasted till the mid-3rd in a PPR. With you on SPiller as well. As i stated earlier, i just hate taking my 1st rd pick knowing for a certainty he wont be there week 1 of the playoffs. So until the Charles/Rice/TRich/Mccoy/Martin group was gone, i would have taken 1 of them over CJ just because of that.
WR: VJax (4), Nicks (5), S.Johnson (6), J.Gordon (8), S.Hill (18), J.Baldwin (20)
Very happy with my WR core. I like my WR's to be explosive and capable of turning in a big game each week. I know the risk with these are that they can dud in each week too, but I think my top 3 can all have games that could carry the other 2 if necessary. Gordon should be Weedens go-to guy and I see him improving off last years numbers. Hill could improve in his 2nd year. I'm taking a chance with Baldwin hoping he clicks in the new system. - Agree with your assesment here. Solid WR core. Nicks will at some point miss some games as he always does. You have 2 very capable backups in Stevie J and Gordon. Shouldnt be an issue at all.
TE: Witten(2), Gates (9), Z.Ertz(15)
I have Witten as my TE1, and think after him, Graham (who was taken) and Gronk (who I wouldn't invest such a high pick in with all the concerns), the rest are all pretty lumped in together. So it was take Witten or wait and wait. I like the high floor of Witten and if he can improve his TD (3) of last year he's worth it. - You cant possibly have Witten as your #1 overall TE. He's never put up a Jimmy Graham 2011 season in 9 full seasons. Put him over Gronk with the injury concern is fair, but def not above Graham. Gates i like alot in rd 9. Heads kept passing on him in my draft as well. The td's will be there as they always are. I dont think 60 rec's for 800 yds is that insconcievable in which case thats a crazy bargain.
