FBG D Thomas dynasty ranking (1 Viewer)

There are others, but I'm going to focus on one comparison:

D Thomas v Roddy White. Thomas is having a way better year THIS YEAR. He's 26. White is 32. But White is listed much higher in the dynasty rankings.

Is there anyone in their right mind who would trade D Thomas for Roddy White in a dynasty league?

I personally have thought of D Thomas as a top 7ish dynasty WR since Peyton signed. He's obviously behind Calvin, AJ, Julio, and likely Marshall. After that, he's right there with Nicks and Bryant and Harvin.

I might even put V Jax ahead of Roddy in dynasty right now.

Certainly I would rather have Thomas over White. However, if you take a look at the dynasty rankings back to Nov 10, there are 8 staffers that rank the WRs, and the average ranking then is WR8 vs WR 13; that is about in the same tier.

If you take out the two staffers that rank Thomas 20 or lower, then White is WR9 and Thomas WR10.

Not that big a deal.

How long are you/we expecting Peyton Manning to play?

ftr: he is 36 turning 37 in March and he has 4 more years remaining on his contract.

White will turn 34 years old in the next two years, So this logic does not change the result. While no one knows to the Denver quarterback will be in two years we all know that White will still be 34 at that point. Thomas should be higher.

I wasn't saying that Thomas shouldn't be higher. But many had perceived that Manning would only play 2 or 3 years in Denver... which could be behind someones rankings.

Thomas looked good with Tim Tebow throwing him the ball. How much worse does anyone expect his QB situation to get?

Did you see Indianapolis last year?

So if you eliminate some data and account for some lag, you can get them to the same tier. But they shouldn't BE in the same tier. The tiers should have been flipped to begin with IMO. It was a fine ranking for a redraft, but not for a dynasty. It just seems that age is never factored in heavily enough by some (truthfully, many) guys IMO. Every once in a while I highlight some of the "worst" cases in this regard.

Yep, if Denver goes out and gets Kerry Collins and/or Curtis Painter to replace Manning when he retires, I'll worry. Except by then he might be with another team anyway.

I can't fathom not having him in the top 5 - AJ Green, Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, and Demaryius Thomas, in some form or fashion. I can split hairs any which ways on these guys but these are the five guys I want to let out the stable to win me dynasty titles for the foreseeable future, all also providing a great exit value in 3-5 if you so choose. Guys like Roddy White have a turrible exit price right now as compared to these guys in established dynasty leagues (unless you've got that one owner who operates his team like the Redskins of old, trading picks for players past their prime, being middle of the road every year with Darren Sproles as his RB1). Relying on a value rape isn't advised.

My guess is Manning is the reason for the low ranking in many cases, and I hate to beat the dead horse but look no further than last year for evidence that he's going to get fed.
