FBG, Explain Lineup Dominator to me? (1 Viewer)

This isn't meant to be an application question, so I hope the thread does not get moved. This is more about what resource should be used (LD or Rankings)

I been trying to use the LD this year...I ran it tonight (says it is updated with week 8 projections)

It is showing me Leinart at 20.3, Vick at 15.5, and Peyton Manning at 12.6.

I know Leinart has a good matchup against GB and Manning is going up against Denver and that could be the reason.

If you go over to the cheatsheet though, Manning is #3, Vick #4, and Leinart #14.

I know people get frustrated at times by the discrepancies that the site sometimes has due to different people writing different areas. I thought that the LD though used the official rankings by FBG? I know that the LD is configurable based on each persons scoring system, but ours is not that different that Manning would drop so bad.

Another example is the LD has Droughns over Jackson, but the Rankings have Jackson over Droughns.

It also take into account your scoring system (which may be different from what FBG uses) and Grey's Strength of Schedule to detemine projected fantasy point for a individual player.

I edited mine original post because I considered that. Then I saw your post. I was not considering the strength of schedule, but hinted to it based on Leinart against GB and Manning against Denver.

I think future projections have been less accurate than in the past too as compared to when that future week reaches 'current' projection status. I know it's hard to project that far into the future but these are cases where the LD could use further input from the experts.

LD is also just a tool. It is based on your own scoring system. Best to look at the offensive and defensive projections, too. Then you can tell where the predicted points are coming from. For instance, our league scores double points for out of position scoring (e.g. a running back scores double for a receiving touchdown).

Sometimes, a 0.2 rushing TD for QB A will shift QB A up above QB B. I have to consider whether I really believe that the 0.2 predicted rushing TD is real and whether QB B might actually be the better play.

As a tool, LD is great. As an oracle, forget it.

Another example, Green Bay defense is listed way above all the the other defenses this week (20 points versus 10 - 12 points).

I picked up KC instead (8 points). Much better in my mind.

Important to note that the new weekly stats are not usually available until Thursday late/Friday morning.

The projections: week 8A is a fooler...

I think this is the real key...Thanks everyone. The Projections look better now that I updated this morning.

I don't think Leinart will get the "20 points" projected, but he could out produce Manning and Vick this week fantasy wise. GB's secondary is horrible. The Broncos have not allowed a passing TD all year so that will be a tough matchup for Manning. The Falcons are going to pound the ball and run at Cinci.. Call me crazy, but Leinart might be the way to go!

I started using the draft dominator four weeks ago, and have gone 4-0 in the process.

Draft Dominator??? Do you mean Lineup Dominator? I don't think DD is updated once LD comes out...You should be using LD right now...

Whoops, your right. That's what I meant to say!! I meant to endorse the Lineup Dominator, not the Draft Dominator.

Is using the lineup dominator any different then using the customized cheatsheets?
Yes! Very much so!! Things like your league scoring, strength of schedule all factor into the draft dominator. The Cheatsheets don't do this. :football:
League scoring is in the customized cheatsheets. strength of schedule is not needed when determining a weekly lineup, considering the strength of the matchup is built into the weekly projections. I use the trade dominator - but fail to see the difference between the lineup dominator and custom cheatsheets.

There was a huge shift in Dodd's game predictor between the first version and the second and that changed the offensive projections as well as the cheatsheet and I am assuming the Lineup Dominator (although I don't use that program).

I agree. In theory they should be the same. The LD does make it a little easier since your team is already loaded, and you can see your opponent's team if you take the time to update their rosters. The Custom Cheatsheets offer the Relative Defensive strength of each defense vs. each position, which I like to see.

OK - Ill give it a whirl. What are the windows you use within the lineup dominator?

I've been using it for a few weeks for playoff preparation. It allows you to look at projected points for the the rest of the season. It has really helped my locate weaknesses in my projected lineups for the critical playoff weeks. You can do the same research without LD by using the standard FBG tools, but everything is in one convenient package with the LD.
