FBG Site Question - T-shirt Idea (1 Viewer)

Hey Guys,

I know there's some sentiment out there about folks not wanting to share the FBG site with their owners in their league that don't know about it. I understand that. I had a ton of people tell me when we did shirts they'd like to "support" what we were doing but didn't want to advertise the site at their draft.

Thought of this one the other day.

First an assumption. The Shark ratio on this board is way over what it is for the average league. By definition of you being here and it being mid June, you guys are likely the most informed guys in your league. It's not much of a reach to assume you guys are likely the best and most successful owners in your league. Bottom line is whether they'd ever admit it or not, the other owners in your league watch what you do.

So here's the deal. I own the www.blackeyedjoe.com domain name. (it's what we call that goofy little guy on our logo)

We make a T-shirt that has the big Blackeyedjoe guy and the words on the shirt say: "I Dominated My League with www.blackeyedjoe.com"

You go into your draft wearing the shirt, lay waste to the competition, and stroll out. The other guys in your league can't get home fast enough to type in www.blackeyedjoe.com to see how you knew all the stuff you knew.

They access the website and it's a one page site with the logo and something like this message:

"You just got PUNK'D by the SHARK in your league (again). You think he'd really share his info with you? Good luck, Rookie. Have a great year..."

Whaddyathink? Would that go over? Or more importantly, if we made these would anyone buy them?

Lemme hear it.

J

Awesome!!! People in my leagues are always asking where I go for my info. I don't lie to them...I just don't tell the whole truth. I point them to TSN, espn, you know the most popular names. It would be sweet to Punk 'em.

You are pure evil! I love it! Put me down for an XXL!
Make that 2 for 'little guy' size XXL!FANTASTIC..Edited to add.. I'm cracking up just thinking about it.. I logged out to get to work, and had to come back to read it again... :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: First RATE as always Mr. Bryant!

I think we should take it a step further and add links to CBSSportsline articles.Oh, and I'll take an XXL as well.-s

We got all excited the other day and started talking about making "Blackeyedjoe.com Cheatsheets" that you could create with your league's name at the top and all that you could conveniently drop at your draft. Stuff like Mike Anderson ranked #4 and the comment beside it of "Unreal value after devastating Portis injury this week" Or have Steve McNair at #35 with the "info" of "8 game suspension is unprecedented" But that was too much. The "punk'd" thing is just enough to rub it in without misleading anyone.J

And the best part would be.. Your league mates coming up to you a SECOND time, telling you that the read the shirt, followedthe link and got caught again.. People ADMITTING stupidity.. priceless.. :bag:

I started reading your post and said to myself "I have no problem with other owners going to footballguys... it's what you do with the information .... blah ... blah ... blah." But, by the time I got to the end I was laughing. This is a great idea and one I'm sure alot of the people here would support.Any chance of offering a combo shirt/subscription package?

I think I will buy one for the entire family.

Me: XL

Wife: S

Daughter: S

Son: 4T

Dog: XL

Seriously.......this will be the best NON-Marketing revenue you will make all year.

In!

Also, to Hector and Victor! The shirts are a pretty funny idea, although I wonder how many entire leagues hang out at fbg, but think they are the only one in the group who does.

a fake cheat sheet we can print out and leave on the sidewalk out front couldnt hurt either

Boy, I'd really like a fake cheatsheet up there. Nothing so awful that it's obvious, but bad enough that someone who followed the advice would reach in every round (you know - Bledsoe rated #4 QB, Hearst at #10 RB, Staley at #9 RB, Morton at #12 WR, etc). That way I could wear it to the owners' meeting the month before the draft and plant some seeds of disaster.

Great Idea, would be very interested in the T-Shirt. The cheatsheets would be cool to see how many actually followed them and drafted that way.

Not sure what "punk'd" means in your part of the world, but where I come from, it denotes an act I certainly wouldn't want to do to another man!Count me out.

I don't agree with the sentiment on this board about "hiding" this site from the guys in my league.I commish a 12 team league and I told everybody about this site, and the few other places I sometimes go for information. I like the idea of people having as much information as possible so they can not cry foul when I make a good trade with somebody. Information is knowledge and if those guys dont come here, too bad for them. If they do, then so be it. I see no need to hide anything from my owners. As an aside, I didn't subscribe to the site last year for the sole purpose that I refuse to pay for fantasy information. However, I do intend on doing so this year simply because of the tremendous effort you guys put forth in running this site and providing the free message board, which I obviously scour year long. I have no problem helping to promote this site and if your selling shirt with the real FGB site info on it, I'd be more than happy to by one.Great job fellas and thanks for all the effor that goes into this site. The $20 subscription fee is the least I can do to show my appreciation.

Great way to sell T-Shirts Joe. I doubt anyone in my league would put two and two together though and the prank would be wasted, like me!

LOL Joe has an idea, an idea that would only be mildly amusing if brought up by a sixth grader, and the usual lapdogs rush in to tell him its brilliant.

I WANT THIS :rotflmao:

I'm so down with this.A request. Something other than a white T-shirt please. I've got WAY too many white FBG.com, cheatsheets.net, etc. T-shirts.My old blue mrfootball.com shirt is falling apart. A blue shirt with the exact same scheme would be perfect. URL and logo on the left chest. Large logo and slogan "because losing sucks" on the back. PERFECT.Bring back the classic.

 There's one in every bunch.I'm with the rest of y'all that have a sense of humor... start taking orders!Unfortunately, there's at least 2 or 3 people that know FBG in all of my leagues... so I might have to go with S&B and get a normal one.

pure unrefined EVIL......................XXL or XXXLThe cheatsheet idea is great! Kind of like those fake bank deposit slips that you can "drop" at your high school reunion. The have your name on them, and savings account total of like $500,000.000.

Because I'm no good at keeping my mouth shut, I've let a couple of the guys in my 16 team league know about this website. I needed a brilliant solution to once again lead them off on a wild goose chase. Excellent idea from a marketing standpoint and from a fantasy football standpoint of providing us with everything we need while making money at the same time. Put me down for an XL. Oh I can see it now. . .haha. . .

whether it's Coke or Nike or whomever, I make it a practice not to buy shirts that advertise a product. I've always felt the companies should be giving those shirts to me for free for advertising for them. Or at least be selling them at cost. But that's just me. My guess is that a lot of people here would buy them, though. So to answer the question, yes, folks would buy them. Secondly, what happens in a league where all 12 guys are members here? That would make 11 guys who are losers in one league who subscribe to this site. Things that make you go "hmm..."

I'm intrigued by the idea, although I'm almost more interested in the Cheat sheet. But it would need to be more subtle than a portis injury or McNair suspension...Stuff like downgrading LT to around 10-15 because of of Boston getting more throws.or Pushing for the "wrong" cleveland QB once decided.Put McGahee up near the top based on the great 2nd half he'll have.Maybe sneak Deshaun Foster into the rankings to retake the Car job (conveniently leaving S.Davis off the list completely)Put Vick #1 overall and the TB def in the first 3 rounds.

i would buy one but one request is that they are quality shirts and not some Fruit of the Loom shirts that will shrink after the first wash. i doubt anyone in my one league would fall for it because they are all ready clueless as is.
Hi SS,With you on the quality shirts. All the shirts we did before were Hanes Beefy T heavy cotton. I hate the cheap shirts so don't worry.J

Brilliant.Forget the fake cheatsheets folks. The whole point is to wear it to your draft and pull a good prank on your other league members. You couldn't have the website say you just got punk'd and then put up a cheatsheet.

No, the fake cheatsheet is to have laying around on the table before/during the draft. Maybe hand a few out (with the ever-so-distracting porn).

Just classic Joe - great idea. I'm in for a XL.

What are the chances of a t-shirt of my avatar as well? :)

Yea I'm all over that, but I would say give them false information all year. You know, looks like Shipp will start instead of Emmitt, Moss injured may not start etc. etc.

My problem....I'm only in leagues with FBGs.But I love a good T. Shirt...and who knows? :) Put me down for 3XL. (I'm a big lady).
