Fbg weekly rankings suggestion (1 Viewer)

Been a member since 2010. Came over here and brought many other members with me from another very popular ff site. Won't say the name on here out of respect.

Reason I stopped subscribing to that site was they had gestapo moderators on the birds that censored anyone who questioned their methodologies and were way too quick to ban people from the msg boards which were at one point the best part of their services.

Anyway, one thing they DID get right was their rankings. And I don't mean accuracy in their predictions. They sent out their rankings but what the subscribers LOVED about it was that they gave a little blurb next to EVERY player that explained their thought process behind the ranking they gave.

Was very valuable to see WHY they were ranking any particular player where they ranked them as opposed to just a list of players.

I wish FBG could do that. Is that in the realm of possibility?

The disparity between prelim and official rankings this week is significant. Im not complaining...just thought it was noteworthy. I think having 2 different authors creates a logical disconnect.

The only one who gives you an occasional blurb. Is bloom and sometimes Maurice...

You need to dig through the rest of the sites weekly articles to get week to week insight..

The Rankings hyperlink to the player pages though, don't they? The write ups are done. Maybe they can add a "headline" to those blurbs and have them show up in the rankings?

I'm a new subscriber here this year. Been trying to decide whether to pay more attention to the preliminary rankings vs official rankings. Also which author tends to have the most accurate rankings. Anyone offer a newb some tips on how get the most out of this?

Welcome and hi!

Rankings are always going to be just a tool to help you decide -- depending on one isn't always as strong as taking in how all staffers are ranking, individually and averaged across the staff, and using that info to either confirm or test your own feelings about a certain player/game situation.

That said, I usually lean towards Dodds's rankings, as well as Bloom's 2nd opinion. The early rankings from Maurile I use as a gauge on how I may approach the waiver wire. Also find that the game recaps are helpful in this regard to tease out where a team may be vulnerable or trending hot vs the pass or run.

In-week, also like to use the Top 200 to supplement my own long-term rankings for waiver decision. Being able to customize to your league's scoring system is enormously helpful.

Bottom line: rankings are just a tool, and the delta between even the most accurate ranker and a middling one isn't huge, so don't rely on them solely to set your lineup, but as added information to help you decide.

+1 great advice, I'm a big fan of bloom so I lean heavily on his rankings to help cement my own gut calls
