FBG's Ranking Of Peyton Manning This Week (1 Viewer)

:lmao:

I don't want to say where they're ranking him because that's members-only content. But ... wow.

This isn't a Bash FBG's rankings thread either. But this ranking really stunned me. It's damn ballsy. I'd sure like to get some thoughts on this one.

It is definitely somewhat eye opening to see him below the likes of guys like Garrard, Shaub, Cassell and Gus Ferotte....but they really do have significantly better matchups than he does.

If he were on my teams I would probably not be benching him for those guys. But you can absolutely make a logical argument for it.

The Ravens D is filthy. They allow 128 yds passing per game! That's a day at the office for Fitz and Baltimore is only allowing that to entire teams. Couple that with .75 passing TD's allowed per game and Indy's struggling offense? Frankly, QB16 is giving him the benefit of the doubt!

The flip side to that is the Ravens have yet to face a QB of Manning's stature or an offense with the weapons the Colts have in the passing game. The closest would be Pittsburgh but Roethlisberger is playing hurt. None of the other QBs they've faced (Palmer, Anderson or Collins) come close to Manning. Combine that with the fact the game is in Indy and I could see Manning having a big day. I don't think the Colts will even try to run much. They'll just concede the fact they can't and turn the game over to Manning. We'll see how it turns out. I agree that if you go purely off statistics and believe that in every matchup the defense holds the advantage than ranking Manning where he's at can be justified. I'm just not sure that the defense should always be given the edge - especially if they're on the road facing a QB of Manning's ability.

I'll buy that. I happen to agree with everything you say (I'm starting Peyton this week rain or shine). I'm just saying if ya look at the stats of this D it's very justifiable.

It's a nasty matchup on paper. No doubt. I certainly can understand lowering Manning's projections (although my personal belief is he's going to throw it a ton and get his numbers due to the volume of passes he'll attempt), but I was more surprised by some of the QBs projected ahead of him. Some of them do have nice matchups on paper, but at least one has what I would view as a much worse matchup when you take into account the QB's ability compared to Manning's.

But this is why we play the game and all that. :goodposting:

Has anyone actually watched the Colts play this year? They have looked brutal.
Exactly. I think the ranking is pretty accurate, actually. Without the two gift turnovers against the Texans, they scored, what, 17 points this past Sunday. Against the Texans. Methinks the Ravens will be even stingier...

So you think he's low at QB16?
The difference between "QB16" and "QB9" this week is a whopping 2pts! Don't get caught up in the order they're in, look at the points.

In my league, Peyton is the #16 QB....for the year (based on points scored to date). It's not likehe's been setting the world on fire so far this year.

Even you were not expecting it to go this well. But nice call, regardless.
