FBGs Top 3 songs: Pearl Jam (closed) (1 Viewer)

Not a Yield fan?  I think it may be my favorite actually.  Live on Two Legs was always one of my favorite live albums though.
If they merged Yield with No Code I think they'd have one more great album in the catalog.  Something like...

Brain of J

Faithful

Hail Hail

Given To Fly

Smile

Off He Goes

Habit

Red Mosquito

Lukin

Do The Evolution

MFC

In Hiding

Present Tense

I bought it when it came out and I dug some of it, but it had no staying power with me at all. I find most of the tracks on there kind of gimmicky and bland now. Given to Fly is still okay, but I actually have a hard time getting over how similar it is to Going to California.  I’m not saying they ripped off Led Zepplin, but it’s similar enough that it kind of bothers me.

Actually my favorite song from either of those albums is “Who you are.”

Very tight finish

Black                     38

Rear view mirror    26

Alive                       23

Black has absolutely lost it's luster for me.... it's occasionally lifted by a rare inspired MIke solo... but generally speaking the song has been played out. Sucks as it used to mean so much... but it's dead to me .

I mean, it's a song that was very meaningful to me back in the day, when I attached it to my first failed romance. As I moved on and she faded in importance to me, the song wasn't as pertinent. Over time, I connected with other songs that better matched my experiences, like Faithfull, which I put first. So, I get it, the song was played a lot and I didn't really care to hear it or felt like I had to be in a certain mood to do so. But I still put it second, because I appreciate it as a great song even if there are other PJ songs I prefer to hear more often.

I should've posted my predictions, but not a surprise that Black and Alive were top 3.  I wouldn't have predicted RVM though.

hmm, surprised "I am Mine" only got one vote. People indifferent about the song, or just clearly not able to be one of the top 3? wondering the con's with it

it was written about the energy behind the strife that broke up the band, so its kind of dark for me.

Tier 1 is just way too strong for this to get serious consideration. Good song but just isn't near the same level as Even Flow, Alive, Black, Porch, Animal, Rearviewmirror, Not For You, Courdoroy, I Got ####, Off He Goes, Footsteps, Yellow Ledbetter, and Just Breathe.

This is a band that did not benefit from longevity. It''s too bad because the start was brilliant

10 is a near perfect album

Vs is almost just as good as 10

Vitalogy is great but not as good as the first two

Then I can't even pick a standout after that, they just get super boring.  I do find myself listening to those first 3 still though.

Jeremy did not get a lot of love in this poll, too overplayed?  Alive is overplayed too and fared a lot better.  I would have put Jeremy in the top 3, I agree with Jeff Ament its the best take on 10.  Just listen to Jeremy from start to finish on headphones, it's got a lot going on.

This is a really tough one but may have voted like this:

Jeremy

Porch

Rearview
