FD Bans NY Residents Temp; NY AG Asks Court To Shut Down DK&FD (1 Viewer)

This guy is such a scumbag. His rational for banning NY residents is that it is illegal gambling, so he demands ONLY New York residents be banned from playing, he's happy to let the, by his own words, illegal gambling operation continue to operate in his state and continue to pay taxes on the game played by other states residents. At the same time hes taking in tens of thousands of dollars in campaign donations each year from New York casinos. It makes my skin crawl to think this isnt anything unusual.

What really bothers me about all of this is the lottery. Daily fantasy sports sites are not preying on the poor. If you want to see that, go to a convenience store in a low income area and watch the counter for a few minutes. They come(on foot, don't have a car) and get a few scratch offs hoping to change their life. Now that is sad, but it's perfectly fine with all the states because they get the profits. The profits from the lotteries were usually approved with some noble cause like supporting the failing school systems, but after a year or two the money starts getting diverted to other areas as "needed".

When these guys are speaking why doesn't someone just ask why the lotteries are ok? Would love to hear that answer.

And to clarify, I'm not speaking specifically about New York. This happens all over.

The AG would just say, "the legislature made the lottery legal, but [arguably] didn't do the same for DFS". I'm not saying that makes the concept of it OK (it doesn't) just pointing out that they can't prosecute something that our elected officials have made legal.

Lotteries are straight-up gambling, complete with their marketing machinery and everything. They are only not gambling because of legislation excluding them. You know, kinda like DFS.
