On our first feature Friday NPD would like to take a look at the AFC North, kicking things off with the division leader:
1. Cincinnati Bengals(4-1): The Bengals are a force this year with Carson Palmer back at the helm. The loss of WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh hasn't hurt this squad too much as Chad Ochocinco has truly gotten his stride back. While on the ground Cedric Benson leads the league in rushing yards(487). On the defensive side of the ball this team isn't slacking either. They've allowed the least points in the division through 5 games (90) surprisingly less than Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Leading this attack is Anwtan Odom who is tied for the league lead in sacks(8.0).
2. Baltimore Ravens(3-2): Forget about the defense this offense is hot, the Ravens are 5th in the league in total yards per game(382). 2nd Year QB Joe Flacco is performing like a vet while the other sophomore on the team Ray Rice has been having a stellar season with 572 total yards. Don't completely forget about the defense as the Ravens rank 10th in the league in yards allowed per game and have their fair share of turnovers(10).
3. Pittsburgh Steelers(3-2): The Steelers are getting back on track after a somewhat rocky start to the season. Ben Roethlisberger is on his way to proving that he is truly an elite quarterback shouldering the steel curtain through some tough times; injuries of Willie Parker, and Troy Polamalu. The Steelers have drafted well and are looking promising for the future (Santonio Holmes, Mike Wallace, Rashard Mendenhall, Ben Roethlisberger, Limas Sweed, Lawrence Timmons, And Evander "Ziggy" Hood).
4. Cleveland Browns(1-4): The Browns are among the laughing stock in the NFL this season. One miserable victory over the Bills in what some may call "the worst game of football they have ever seen". Over the past few days names of Browns players have been swirling within trade winds, specifically the names Brady Quinn and Josh Cribbs. Eric Mangini has issued statements regarding both players "staying put" but the mere fact that these issues have come up is not good news for the Browns organization.
