Felix Jones? (1 Viewer)

With Bye weeks and injuries mounting, anyone dropping Felix at this point?

He won't be back until week 7 and what's the chances he's going to get a chance to be the main back after he returns...

he wont ever be the main back, I can see is smaller 10 man leagues with small rosters needed to move him for bye week stuff etc.

Kids a dynamic player but cant stay on the field

I have him in a few leagues - in one league with a very small roster size, I had to drop him for a bye-week replacement. In the other leagues, Im going to keep him as long as I have room on the roster. This isnt the last weve heard from him this year, but it may take a while until hes back on track. When healthy, I can still see Wade making every effort to get the ball into his hands,

wow, shocked his value is this low. if he didn't get hurt monday night, we could be talking a top 10 RB going forward. IF he's healthy by fantasy playoffs, I don't want to be going against him, so I'm holding.

The problem is that he won't be back for several weeks and by that time Choice will have had a couple nice games and Barber will be back. At that point Felix is back to getting a handful of carries per game. Is that worth holding on to?

That's how I see it. What good will he be when he does come back? Not sure if he's worth holding dead weight for 3 or so weeks then adding someone who will be a flex player. If he does get the opportunity to be the feature back, there's a good chance that he will get hurt again.

dont have room for a part time player that oft-injured.

With the injury to Parker, I snuck in and grabbed Moore off the WW hoping he can do what he did last season. With this, if Moore produces and Mendenhall faulters I'll drop Felix.

Really depends on how your league is set up. Perhaps in smaller redraft leagues with no flex player in the lineup, Felix isn't worth rostering. And even if he is, with him being out for three weeks (the last being the BYE) you could probably replace him with someone playing for a couple weeks, then claim him back when he returns. In larger leagues though (12+ owners), even with 8-9 carries, Jones will be great in the flex spot. There aren't many (if any) other RBs out there that are nearly guaranteed to get you over 100 yards on <10 touches. And IMO, despite this set back, Jones role with the team isn't going to shrink, it will only increase. Yes he's been fragile, but none of the injuries are related to one another, and the longer he's in the NFL, the better conditioned he'll be, and he'll beat the injury bug.

I'm trying to package him in a trade to the Barber owner. I figure he might want some late-in-the-year insurance on Barber.

How can he be 'nearly guaranteed' to do something that he has accomplished twice in his career?

I'm thinking he means TOTAL yards, not just yards rushing. Now I haven't looked into the numbers but I'd be pretty surprised that he'd only put 100 total yards twice in his career.

Rushing & Receiving, he's hit 100+ twice, 97 once, less than that in the 5 other games he's received offensive touches in. Of course, he was barely being worked into the offense last season, but in his last 5 games played he came near 100 yards or exceeded it 3 times. It was more of a forward looking statement than anything.

No sense in nitpicking numbers.

Felix has top 5 talent. Just doesn have the attitude/toughness needed to become great.

That said I have him in two leagues and theres no way I give him up. The upside is just too high.

I have him in zero leagues and T. Choice in 2 leagues and I can't believe people are thinking of getting rid of him. If I see him go to the waiver wire, he's definately on my list to pick up.Everyone's talking in here like they have a crystal ball. Like they KNOW that Marian Barber, who was hurt last year, was hurt earlier this year will somehow in 3 to 4 weeks be a running machine and stay healthy.Barber runs too hard and it takes a toll on his body. He could very well be injured in a month or in 8 weeks and then down the stretch Felix is healthy. If Barber is healthy, for those asking what will his role be? His role will be what is what before this injury, something Barber nor Choice can provide is the ability to break a long play from anywhere on the field. You get those people in the game.I understand your disappointment, I'm sorry he got hurt......again. Make a secret pact with yourself never to draft him again but in a month he'll be back in the lineup and whomever you pick up from the waiver wire isn't going to help you that much to warrant losing Jones for the rest of the year.Again, I'm a Tashard Choice guy but I wouldn't be dropping Felix if I had him.

 Felix is the perfect guy for the end of your FF bench. If he gets the chance, he is going to put up big numbers. Who the heck are you going to pick up that has as good a chance as he does to get PT, and will outperform him? Not many guys on the wire that have his potential.

True.But ... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?...=bell_stephania (about PCL sprain)

My guess is the Felix Jones owner in the OP's league is a member of this board and the OP is hoping he can convince him to drop Jones.

Anyone dropping McNabb, Westbrook, Barber, Bowe, Welker or Gore? Those guys all missed a game or two as well. No sense in all that dead weight taking up a valuable roster spot. :goodposting:

I maybe forced to drop felix if I cant get a trade worked out. Have Grant, Forte, Sproles on bye in week 5. Felix is #4 with Mendenhall how at #5. Will most likely drop mendenhall for Caddy, but still would leave me with just 1 back healthy for next week. 5 RB limit on roster. And need to have a complete roster.

Not that I am advocating dropping Felix, but all of those guys you mentioned have been reliable fantasy producers in the past. Felix never has been. In fact, despite his flash and eye-popping big play ability, Felix Jones has shown that he is incapable of staying healthy, despite his limited touches. His upside is too high to not hold on to him, but I have a feeling that this guy is gonna be a fantasy tease for a long, long time. It is hard to rely on starting a guy who will probably not get more than a handful or two of touches per game.

Have him in a 10 team league with fairly large rosters and 2 flex positions. I havent even considered dropping him, and I had to drop 2 players this week to get 2 IDP fill-ins.

Jones is much better than anything on the WW in my league.
