For those of you that lock the waivers at the start of the first NFL game of the week, how do you handle the weeks where there are Thursday night games?

I don't really like that ALL players are locked at the start of Thursday night's game even though everyone outside of the two Thursday teams haven't started their games yet. It sucks even more for those teams with questionable players that will miss practice until Friday (after waivers are locked).

So bascially, our wavers are locked from Thursday night all the way through to Tuesday night (leaving just a couple of days for FCFS on weeks where there are Thursday night games back to back

I tried to see if we can set it to lock JUST those players that started their games, but I haven't had much luck.

Any input will be much appreciated.

I run blind bid waivers three times a week ie Tuesday am to Wednesday pm, Friday am to Saturday pm, and Sunday morning 6am-11:30am. Players that play in the Thursday game are locked, but everyone else can substituted.

I don't know how you are set up for waivers and free agents, but in my case, it works as you would seem to want it to work.

In my setup, I simply go to Waivers/Free Agents Setup and make sure the "Prevent Owners From Making FCFS Waivers/Free Agent Moves Between Kickoff of that player's game and the end of the last game of the week?" is set to YES.

Try the mfl forums if you cannot get this to work the way you want it to be.

last year I just let it run until Sunday like every other "normal" week. Players picked up once their game starts can't be used until the following week anyway.

I just saw that mine was set to NO.Before I switch that to yes, would you mind PM'ing (or posting) how your league calender is set up?I think this is exactly what I'm looking for! :wall:

In that same Waivers/Free Agents setup area, the first selection is how long a player who is dropped is locked out. Mine is set to "The player is not locked" so they are immediately eligible for pickup. Here's the relevant calendar information:First Come, First Served Waivers Thu Sep 3 2:00:00 a.m. ET 2009Waiver Request Mon Sep 14 10:15:00 p.m. ET 2009 Edit DeleteNo Waivers Allowed Wed Sep 16 1:00:00 p.m. ET 2009 (Happens 14 more weeks.)First Come, First Served Waivers Wed Sep 16 9:00:00 p.m. ET 2009 (Happens 14 more weeks.)Waiver Request Mon Sep 21 8:30:00 p.m. ET 2009 (Happens 13 more weeks.)The Monday night doubleheader forced me to have two separate Waiver Requests entries as that period begins (and first come, first served free agency ends) on kickoff of the final game of the week. The first entry is included because we have open free agents from the draft until the season begins. Due to the fact that players are not locked when dropped for initial weekly waiver claims, we have an 8 hour period before first come, first served free agency which produced a de facto lock on those players that are dropped as part of the initial waiver claim.

This is also how I do it but I have it set, when a players game start it doesn't matter if he's on yourteam or not he locks, those in FA lock until waivers clear. If the player is on your team you can't even drop him, players in FA/on your team whose game hasn't started, you can still pick them up in FA or drop them from your team

I manually change the settings for that week only, then I go back to the old settings the following week. It's pretty easy to set up a calendar with MFL.

Thanks for providing this info. I have my dropped players locked for 1 day (to allow everyone somewhat of an even shot at getting that person... not everyone is in front of a computer at all times of the day).I'll see if I can work this into my league. I usually don't ever change rules after the season has started, but I think everyone won't mind this one getting implemented now.
