This is one of those films that never would have occurred to me to list as a horror movie, but I have no principled argument for why. It's a great film and I still rewatch it from time to time. The first half of the movie in particular is sensational. The Terminator would be the first I'd debate about being horror, but that's a personal opinion like so many of these. I'm surprised more people didn't list them. The basic premise of it really isn't that different from say Halloween.
I would have never put Terminator as a horror movie. While it may follow a format similar to other known horror movies it just doesn't say horror to me.The Terminator would be the first I'd debate about being horror, but that's a personal opinion like so many of these. Agreed. Sci Fi action is where I always had this film. As well as Apocalyptic Sci Fi. Outstanding movie......I would argue the original is still better than the epic T2. But that’s a discussion for another time.I would have never put Terminator has a horror movie. Is this 192 or 194? Either way, that was me that submitted this one. Figured I would leave it to our fearless leader to say yay or nay to "horror", but did not want to leave it off just in case. Very debatable, but I think it can go either way, especially sci-fi horror like some other ones I expect to make the list.#192 - The Terminator

I knew I wanted at least one Ti West movie somewhere on my list, and this is actually my favorite of his. I'm a sucker for 80's period movies and this one does it well. It's effectively an 80s horror movie shot in 2009. It's hard to pinpoint what I like about it exactly, but I rewatch it all the time. I think it just oozes with the atmosphere it tries to create. And Tom Noonan is just such a naturally creepy guy for this kind of movie.

For example, every second of this movie from the opening crawl through the Tech Noir scene and Reese's speech in the parking garage is perfect. So I am a huge.....like really huge Halloween fan. All of them save for two of them (Rob Zombies Halloween II and Halloween Ressurection which I actually watch as a comedy now with Busta Rhymes LOL) have been seen dozen upon dozens upon dozens of times. My home is known as the Meyers house every Halloween. Yep I am that guy who dresses up as Michael and scares the living hell outta all the kids. Been doing that going on 30 years now.
So my thoughts on Halloween Kills.
First of all the first one of this “new” Halloween trilogy Halloween 2018 is outstanding. It is a direct sequel to the brilliant 1978 John Carpenter original. We will talk more about that one in due time.
Halloween Kills was the sequel to that film and first and foremost the kills in this are second to none. Michael Meyers is downright brutal in this movie. They also did a fantastic job of doing flashbacks to the original 1978 film. We get to see how the very end of that evening unfolded after Loomis put 6 slugs into this guy and then he got up and left an ominous shape of his body in the ground. The flash backs really give the rest of this film a ton of context with the new characters introduced in this movie. I also loved the Halloween 3 easter eggs and Big John and Little John were great.
Now there are a couple of negatives to the film and one of them is the casting of Anthony Michael Hall for the role of an aged Tommy who Laurie babysat in the original. I felt he overacted and I just did not like the delivery and portrayal of his character. Just a personal opinion on that.
The other wart was the whole “evil dies tonight” mob scene at the hospital. I felt it was quite forced. But overall I love this sequel. All the call backs to the original, the easter eggs, the entire vibe of the continuation of this dreadful Halloween evening that took place in Halloween 2018......it was easily a strong sequel and overall high marks from me in the entire series history.
If you have not seen Halloween 2018/Halloween Kills/Halloween Ends and you were a fan of the original 1978 film, this new trilogy offers an alternate universe to the legacy of Michael Meyers (vs going down the Halloween 2, Halloween 4/5/6 path or going down the Halloween H2O path which is also a direct sequel to the 1978 classic. It takes place 25 years after the original 1978 film).

The Music SUUUUUUUUUUUCKED Just terribly dated now and sounded like a Scream movie.....not Halloween.
