FFB--It's ALL about the schedule (1 Viewer)

I love FFB but I can't stand how the schedule seems to F with me! We're in a 4 person keeper PPR and my teams is below:

A. Rodgers- 3rd ranked QB

Carson Palmer

R. Rice- 4th ranked RB

M. Leshoure- 12.7 PPG

McFadden- 13.1 PPG

Bryce Brown

Calvin Johnson- 2nd ranked WR

Eric Decker 14th ranked WR

Stevie Johnson- 17 ranked WR

Kenny Britt

Chris Givens

Tony Gonzalez- 1st ranked TE

Aaron Hernandez

Seabass

Crosby

49ers D

D that I flip

How the hell is my team 8-7 with the 2nd highest points and in 5th place? That ##### of a schedule....F her. :hot:

Saying it's all about schedule is overdoing it. It plays a part, for sure, and that's what makes it fun.

The championship in our dynasty league this year is the #7 scoring team vs the #12 scoring team (12 team league) in the regular season. The #12 team put up the lowest point total in league history (8 years) in week 12, then a few weeks later in the first round of the playoffs he put up the 3rd highest point total of all time. His team got hot at the right time a la the Giants/Packers/Steelers of the NFL, and it's cool to see crazy stuff like that happen even if it means I'm looking to next year as the overall points leader.

Skill = roto

Fun = H2H

It's even more frustrating when you use MFL and can see the all play winning percentages. I'm in a 3 person keeper/auction league and guy who won our division with a 9-4-1 record had a .411 all play winning percentage. I had a 4-9-1 record with a .514 (6 out of 16) all play winning percentage. Just seemed to draw the wrong opponent every week though realistically I was a borderline playoff team at best this year anyway.

He means that they keep 4 players each year, not that there are 4 teams.
ok, i stand corrected.having said that, any league who hasn't bothered to move beyond just record as a determination for who goes to the playoffs just isn't on the cutting edge. It's like how in MLB we've finally moved beyond "wins" as a main criteria for the quality of MLB pitchers... there are better advance metrics now to determine the quality of one's season. In our league and in many league i know of, record is part of the equation to making the playoffs, but so is the "power rank" (a component of record, all-play record, and points scored)This year we had a 6-7 team qualify over a 7-6 team. We've had a 5-8 team qualify over a 7-6 team.In fantasy football you can't control what the other team does, rendering head to head matchups stupid... however for the feeble minded (which are many) it's not as fun without the head to head match... just like the MLB pitcher who can pitch a gem and allow 1 run, but still lose because their offense sucks eggs... and they have no part in that process.. rendering wins a fairly arbitrary stat.If your league isn't using advanced metrics, complain to your commissioner... get in the 00's.In the same way, the donkey league playoff system shouldn't determine all the payouts... the top scoring or top power ranked teams should be paid.... if they aren't being paid then you aren't rewarding the best team. You can either accept the norm and understand that luck will play an unbelievably huge part of every season... or you can take action to minimize the luck, which will still keep luck at over 50%

Then you should change your settings to reward more fairly.
I don't want to take the fun out of the league but it's definitley frustrating.I have loses this year of 4, 6, 5, 4 and 2 this year. In 4 of those I was a top 3 scorer for the week. That blows.
Sounds like you're having a lot of fun.
It's a 50-50 this year but overall I do have a lot of fun with it. I was a bit peeved this morning but overall I have a good deal of fun and I dont get too worked up.I am interested in how factoring in the power rankings would work though.**ETA**I am the commish and we dont have playoffs for reasons similar to this...we pay the top 3 teams overall

The Power ranking of a team is based on the team's standing in three categories:1) Record2) Total Points3) Breakdown (all play record)The Breakdown category calculates how your team would have done had it played all the other teams each week of the season.Within these categories, "power" points are awarded Rotisserie-style. For example, if there are 12 teams in your league, the team with the best Win/Loss record would receive 12 points for that category, the team with the next best record would receive 11 points, and so on, with the team with the worst record receiving 1 point. The same ranking system is applied for Total Points and for Breakdown. The scores for each category are then totaled to create the overall Power ranking.

Why do you even include the head-to-head matchup?

we started a second league this year, and our commish finished 6th in both leagues --- 8-6 and 6-8.

he was also second in total points in both leagues.

lolz

it's what CBS does... it makes the games matter some.so for instance in a 12 man league if i have the best record, best breakdown and most points i have a perfect 36.at any rate, here is what i do to split rotisserie style vs. head to head.3 division winners make playoffs.next best record.last 2 teams are the highest power ranked teams not to have made it.In over 8 years of doing this, only once did a team not in the top 6 power ranking wise not make it... and instead the 7th ranked team made it and the 6th ranked team did not.No system is perfect, but it has left bad teams with good records out of the playoffs a few times... and allowed poor record good teams in.The bottom line is that it works.

I'm right there with ya.

1st in scoring, 1st in points against

7-7 and out of the playoffs.

I played that weeks high scoring team 5 of my 7 loses

#### happens.
