GRIDIRON ASSASSIN

Footballguy
Da Bears!

Big test up in Minnesota next week. The Vikes have OWNED the Bears up there as of late.

Hell's comin' to breakfast for the 38 year old Brad Johnson next Sunday.

Dancin' with the Stars won't be an option after Johnson gets carted off the field.

BEARS!

now............spit. :cool:Agree that Bears look for real this year grid, ie have a legit O to match the D. Granted it's only week 2 and they play 2 pathetic teams, but if Grossman stays healthy (and the running improves a bit)......could be interesting....Lord knows the Vikes are beatable. B Johnson is a savvy but old and un-athletic QB and the rest of the team is nothing special either.Hmm - when do they play a real - ie non-Norris division - team anyway?? ;)

This will be a tough game no doubt.

I am just happy the Vikes are 2-0 at this point and the team is still pretty healthy. I did not expect them to be able to come away from Washington and Carolina 2-0.

Early game in the black n blue is always about attrition. Not about the score. This game is going to be ugly.

Good luck Bears but this game will not be no walk in the park for you.

The Pack played the Saints tough today, and the Lions almost beat the 'NFC CHAMPION Seattle Seahawks' last week, so I don't want to hear any of this crap about the Bears not beating anybody.

They can only dominate the teams on their schedule, which the NFL provides to them.

BEARS!

WOW - Bears look good playing against the Packers and Lions - yup those are 2 powerhouse teams. They both have solid running games and stout d's.

The VIQueens have proving they can win by boring the other team and not making too many mistakes. The game is going to be ugly, but Grossman is going to be in for a surprise and it will be interesting to see how people jump off Grossman bandwagon.

I've got to admit, The Bears offense looked better than the Seahawks offense against the Lions. If Grossman stays healthy, they have a good shot at going a couple of rounds into the playoffs this year, and with enough luck even make it to the big game. They've had the defense and don't need a ton of offense. A good test for them though will be when they play a NFL defense and not the 2 Canadian league teams they've played so far.

The Bears don't win in the dome. 'Tis a fact.Purple is for real this year. Grossman better be ready. Just ask good 'ol Jake about the Vikes D.

lolKeep telling yourself that CHI beat 2 teams worth a flip grid. Enjoy your happy place. ;) Seriously cmon they haven't proven a thing yet, admit it. Beat MIN and that will at least be a legit (tho not great) team they have beaten.

So if they beat the Vikes next week are they real?

The Vikes beat two of the 'Final Four' teams in the NFC last year: Washington and Carolina

They had NO business beating Carolina today btw.

...and if the Bears are NOT for real, then which NFC team is playing better?

I thought the bears were a joke last season. But this season you have to give them props, even against a cupcake start. Offense, defense and special teams are playing well and that makes you tough to beat.

the bears will run roughshot over the vikes. another double digit victory. the lions had a short field to work on there only score of the day because berrian fumbled. otherwise, shoulda, coulda, woulda been 2 consecutive shutouts for the monsters. impressive anyway you look at it.

Minnesota is not a test, the Seahawks will be a test. If they can score well against that defense then their offense is real. In case you haven't noticed, Washington and Carolina are a combined 0-4 and Min should have been 1-1 against them.Chicago will be the best in their division, but it's a bad division.

Good thing Steve Smith won't play for Chicago either.

I never was a fan of the Bears, but you gotta give credit where it's due. The Bears look for real this year. They finally have a QB who can play. Good luck to you guys, I see you going deep into the playoffs...

Its going to be SWEET when the Vikes smack the taste out of all your mouths.
...and then Biabreakable woke up from his dream. It's funny - everyone said "Yeah, they beat the Packers, but the Lions almost beat the Seahawks. This week against the Lions will be the REAL test..."BTW, are the Vikes also gonna put up 40 points??"Hey, Alex""Yes, Adewale?""Look, it's Brad Johnson""Make a wish!"*snap*I can almost here it now, "Yeah sure, they beat everyone in the NFC, but the NFC is the weaker conference, when they play San Diego on Febraury 4th, that will be the REAL test..." :football:

Would that be the same Seahawks team that BARELY beat the Lions? The same Lions that pressured Matt Hasselbeck most of the game? The same Lions that couldn't sack Grossman and got their arses handed to 'em?I look forward to some real competition for the Bears. They've got a helluva stretch later this year, in which they play three straight road games, Jets/Giants/Patriots. Hell, they might as well set up shop in Bristol for a couple of weeks:Nov 12 @N.Y. Giants Nov 19 @N.Y. Jets Nov 26 @New England

What makes you think the Vikes are going to do that? Your Punter had more touchdown passes than your QB. what matchups against the Bears do the Vikes have an advantage in???

Grid and other Bears fans

What is the deal with them at RB. Is Thomas Jones going to hold onto the job?

I have to admit that the BEARS look pretty good, and their Defense is going to bring me a championship this season. Having said that, I hope the Vikes kick their teeth in! Good luck Grid. :D

what do the bears gotta do to get any respect around here? i don't care who they played the first two games, that was complete domination and couldn't have been done better - by any other team.

guess all the haters will just have to wait and see ... :football:

Who cares what people think, we have starved for so long and now we have a team to be proud of.

Not long ago I was one of the haters calling for Angelo's head :bag:

GO BEARS!

I'm waiting for the Chicago press to finally give Angelo some credit. That dude got blasted for going D in the draft, not addressing TE and reaching for Hester.

Earlier this week Lovie said "#20 is our man" - I assume that means Jones is, well, the man...for now. While Benson hasn't had great stats (he's averaging under 3 yards/carry) he has looked decent. Yesterday he ran over a few people and picked up an extra couple yards on plays that looked they were going to be for no gain or a loss. I could (note: this is me talking) easily see a situation where Benson starts to become the short yardage guy. One other semi-important stat: T.Jones has had 21 carries in both games and Benson has had 11 & 10 (i.e. Benson is getting about 1/3 of the carries) My prediction (and again, it's mine) as long as the Bears are winning and getting solid production, the current split could stay consistent - denting the fantasy value of both players. As long as the Bears keep this high powered passing attack going... I can't believe I just typed that...anyway - Jones will probably be in there as he is a better receiver out of the backfield and better at picking up the blitz.

Salute to the most overrated team after two weeks. Packers anywhere and Lions at home is hardly anything to brag about. :lmao: at anyone thinking the Vikings are a true barometer. They are a smidgen better than the Lions.

Seahawks come to Chicago in week four. Then we'll see if the Bears are contenders or just doomed for another quick playoff exit. GO HAWKS.

The Bears run blocking has not looked good this year and that includes their 4 preseason game as well. It is the same offensive line unit as last year so it surprises me, but there haven't been any holes nad every run is going for 2-3 yards. Thhis has been the case when all the running backs have been in there Jones, Benson, and AP. While the Bears have been up big and teams know that they will be running, I was nervous about this after the preseason games and it has not changed. I would imagine they will get it corrected and open some holes.Jones has been the primary runner and as was mentioned Lovie said he is the man. Neither of the running backs have done anything to change the situation, and I hope to see the YPC increase in the near future.

I thought that would be the Seahawks. They were actually in the Super Bowl? Those Lions looked tough.

:lmao: Optimism runs high in the Windy city until you figure out your team isn't nearly as good as you thought it was. Happens in every sport there. Seahawks ended their season late last year so they are still groggy. I'm sure you wouldn't understand that after the Carolina debacle and a swift exit. OBTW, Seattle beat that team 34-14 and it wasn't even that close. Call me when you win an important game.

I love how people were pimping the Lions defense saying it's a top 5 defense. Yet now people are saying the Lions aren't any good.

What a difference a week makes.

Go pimp your still groggy team somewhere else, this is a MONSTERS OF THE MIDWAY thread :boxing:

Yeah Chicago has had a lot of those recently. Good point. Bears=greatest modern NFL franchise. :lmao:

Knowing what its like to win helps fuel optimism. We all know that Lions fans can't really comprehend this, since.....well......they've never known winning.

Ahh yes, that vaunted Viking defense that shut down the offensive juggernauts of Washington w/o Portis and Carolina sans Steve Smith... Just as an aside - the Bears don't need to score more than 14 to win.

Nope - simply pointing out that Brad Johnson will likely spend significant time seeing the Metrodome turf up close Sunday...that is until he's knocked out of the game. Not that I'm advocating anything like that, he's just old and brittle and the Bears defense is fast and furious. Not to mention the fact that several of the Bears sacks came on plays when they were only rushing their 4 D-linemen. I'm not going to go all "Roy Williams" on you...but let's just say the team that will be 3-0 in the black & blue division aint purple.

This clown supports the Seachickens, a team I usually respect thhey do seem to have an unreasonable amount of classless fans tho

I love the Lion fans. Like they have ever won anything. Matt Millen is 21-61 since taking over? Is this true? They were exposed as the frauds that they are and always will be.

The Vikings are the same. Nothing but hype and they are going to get a beating this week and I cannot wait! I am more impressed with the Saints and the 49'ers!

We'll smack the Seahawks in the mouth just like we will smack Minny in the mouth this week. You will learn..

Funny you should bring this up. The Bears have stopped who exactly? Favre the interception machine, Driver and Ahman Green? Roy I cannot catch a cold Williams? Kevin Jones :bag:I hardly see these guys as being bigger threats than Santana Moss Cooley Portis (who did play by the way) MeShawn and DeAngelo Williams. And who cares? The Bears do not have skill players of this caliber anyways. FYI the Bears have the 4th overall defense in the NFL. The Vikings are 6th.
Just as an aside - the Bears don't need to score more than 14 to win.
But can you score 14?

The Bears have not played against a offensive line such as the Vikings have. It is going to be hard for your munchkin defensive linemen to touch Brad Johnson when they are going to be spending so much time on thier backs looking up at the Metrodome lights. Can you guys stop the run? You better hope so because the Vikings will be bringing it all day. It's funny that you talk about Brad Johnson getting hurt when your Qb hasn't managed to stay healthy enough to play more than 3 games in a row yet.
I'm not going to go all "Roy Williams" on you...but let's just say the team that will be 3-0 in the black & blue division aint purple.
Purple is the color that the Bears will be when the Vikings are done with them.
