A question for those who need the even dollar amount: When you tip, do you make sure your tip is even also. For example, tip $7.21 on a $32.79 bill? I ask because my wife does this and it drives me crazy. Actually, she's a terrible tipper, so she'd likely only tip $3.21, but you get my point.
If things don't work out with your lady, let me know.

No, but I always tip in whole dollar amounts. If the bill is $37, I'll tip $8 and not $7.50.

I probably should have mentioned that this question is in regards of using a credit card, not cash. Of course, I'd likely just leave $40 if I'm paying cash, but if I'm using my CC, I'd likely tip $8.

Me too, although I will tend to go up on a tip because of this.

Just a service announcement, but topping off can cause issues with some cars. It only happened to me once so now I don't top off. My previous car was a 2003 Explorer and the check engine light came on after filling up. The dealership told me it was the fuel sensor (I'll be honest I don't recall anymore it's exact function) and he said it could clear itself but if it didn't it would have to be replaced. It did, but I don't top off anymore.

I used to round it to the nearest dollar before that to top it off, now just let it stop where it stops.

My thing is why is the price of gas such a big deal to the avg person? If you want to argue on a macro sense why it's $3 and not $1 anymore that's one thing but why drive 5-10 min out of the way to go to a place that's .10 cheaper? Is $1.30-$1.60 really worth driving across town and wasting time on?

People pay up to $4 a gallon for sugar water but freak out when gas is up $.25 a gallon and a lot more crap needs to happen to make gasoline then Pepsi.
For a total of 10 minutes, a dime per gallon is probably worthwhile. But really I just try to go to the cheapest gas station on my route.
