FINALLY! (1 Viewer)

McCarthy isn't experienced but if/when he gets fired I'd expect him to get another HC offer pretty quick.
why? He hasn't shown anything imo. At least childress' teams have gotten better every year he's been in mn. childress made the big mistake of hitching his wagon to jackson in that one draft and its pretty much hampered everything since.

Childress about to get an extension

Major :lmao:

Favre is the main reason they are 6-0. Without him I'd say 3-3, maybe 4-2.

He'll be gone in a couple years at the most, but the Vikings will be stuck with Chilly.

Awesome.
Packer fans can laugh all they want, but at this point I'd take Childress over McCarthy every day of the week and I was one of the ones critical of him in the past. When he arrived, the Vikings were one of the least talented teams in the league and now many analysts argue that they are the MOST talented team in the league. Sure, some of that credit goes to their front office, but a good portion goes to the coaching as well. The offense was way too vanilla and predictable in the past, but it's pretty clear that was mostly attributed to Childress' one big mistake(TJack). With a decent QB the offense looks 10 times better and the play calling is confusing teams. Sure the Vikings still seem to be a little conservative and that is in large part the reason for their 4th quarter collapses against GB and Balt., but I think he still will improve on that.

I still have doubts whether he can take a team to the SB, but he has this team believing in themselves and their talent level improves every year. He deserves an extension.

:lmao:What were the threads like here when Farve was doing well with the Jets?
I'm not sure what this post has to do with the topic at hand. :shuked:
I'm just following your rules. You didn't make this topic to talk about Childress getting re-signed.
Ummmm, as a matter of fact I did. He's a terrible coach. Look up all the Viking fans who hated this guy until this year. Why? Because of Favre that's why. Once Favre is gone, they will be back to no QB and a crappy coach.

Hutchins

Jared Allen

ADP

Harvin

Favre

I would say that the HC deserves some credit for building this team.

I doubt Minnesota fans care right now. Hell, Gruden got a 3-year extension 12 months before he got fired. I'm sure they're just going to enjoy the season and if it heads downhill in 2011, he'll get canned.

Show me any Vikings fans who like him this year...he is not a good coach, he just has good players making plays. He has kept the other team in several games and is lucky that they haven't lost those games.

This. Can you imagine how many posts we'd be reading from guys like sho nuff if we seriously posted that Packer fans would anoint Ted Thompson as their King and Master if he got them to another Super Bowl? Or how Packer fans would be seriously comparing McCarthy to Vince Lombardi if they won another title? Most Vikings fans haven't liked Childress since Season One, when they saw how boring and vanilla the offense was. People disliked him even MORE for how he stubbornly stuck to "waste management" at quarterback to prove that he could get a pet rock to win in HIS system. People dislike him less now that Favre is (so far) covering up some of his warts and shortcomings...and has loosened the screw on the offensive game plan just a little bit more. However, to claim that Vikings fans have done an about-face and are now proclaiming Childress to be The Messiah is either a :) or is showing an incredible lack of understanding related to this particular situation.
