First LB impressions (1 Viewer)

training camp starting bumpneed info fast, on the clock at 2.04 and ALL rookie LB options are on the board in a 2pt/tackle leaguegimme the best immediate impact guy you got
I like Dizon the most to make an immediate impact. He could get a boatload of tackles playing for a bad defense.

Agree with this.Since you're talking about immediate impact and not long term I would go:1. Dizon2. Lofton3. Meyo4. Rivers

i was leaning Dizon before you two posted, just made it easier

to get more on topic and off my particular situation

i was leaning:

situation:

Dizon>Lofton>Rivers>>>Mayo

talent:

Mayo>>Dizon=Lofton>Rivers

I put Lofton last of the 4 this year because he is unlikely to be a 3 down LB this year.

One thing to note about Dizon, if you want to talk about him in the context of most likely to contribute short term...

The Lions have reached a stalemate in contract negotiations with LB Jordon Dizon, their second-round draft pick. Dizon missed the first day of camp Thursday, and seems on track to miss much more time, with the two sides reportedly very far apart in negotiations. After Lions CEO Tom Lewand said he was "comfortable" with where the negotiations were at, Dizon's agent, Peter Schaffer replied, "They can say they're comfortable, but they're not treating him fairly."
Mayo signed, I haven't heard anything about Lofton's contract, and negotiations have begun but no signing with Rivers. Just saying, if you want someone who's going to make an immediate impact, this has to factor in. (Even if it's too late for you now :goodposting: )

It's too early to be concerned about this. They have only practiced one day.

Rookie linebacker Jordon Dizon is close to an agreement with the Detroit Lions. The second-round pick may be signed as early as this afternoon, according to MLive Lions Insider Tom Kowalski.

All I'm saying is that the question was looking for the rookie LB with the best chance of making an immediate impact... so it's something that COULD be a concern (not that he isn't signed, but that his agent implies that they're far away). I see your other link though, so maybe that was just posturing.

man i apologize for getting the thread sidetracked with an assistant coach type scenario (although Rivers ALMOST fell to me at 3.04 LOL - snagged EBennett instead - Borbely i know you'd like that too as you and i have been high on him it seems) me saying "immediate impact" was because i have a serious chance to win the whole league this year not that the league was a redraft, it is a dynasty

but at least sidetracking the thread has re-initiated the rookie LB talks which quite frankly are the most fun IDP discussions for me every year

guys I'm a UT Vol homer - no way there is as talented a LB in this draft - he is an animal and have no idea what Cincy was thinking Rivers over Mayo

Mayo in Cincy at pick 9 and the title of this thread would have been "okay after Mayo, who is 2008 IDP #2" but i digress

had 20 tackles in an SEC game last year although i can't remember which one

watching him and PWillis (coached against PWillis in high school) he is at least in the ballpark, not saying he is on the same level, just that he has alot of the same explosiveness and tenacity

also i know that 3-4 defenses aren't all built the same and PWill/DHarris in a 3-4 doesn't mean Mayo can equal that
