Five Guys thread, a 130+ page swordfight. (2 Viewers)

I get in out of Jake's Burgers with a superior burger, better fries, a beer and a tip for less than 5 guys. And they don't yell at all.
I get in and out of Jakes for just north of $400. Problem is I'm hungry by the time I get back.

what's Jake's? Your buddy's backyard?
Dallas burger joint. It's pretty damned good.
So, some local place in Dallas that nobody has heard of does a better job than a national franchised chain? Well this changes everything.
You really want to be shocked, a burger off the grill in my backyard kicks Jake's ### and FGs.

eta to add - I will yell at you if you like or not, but I don't have any peanuts.

Well, we talked about it so much today I am going to try and see if Mrs MOP will skip KC's Healthy Garden and go directly for the artery clogger tonight.

Maybe a walk on the beach after to burn some of it off.

I swear to Christ if you get a Five Guys tonight after the #### slinging you've done against them on this board, I will end you.

Wife said to me "Are you OK?"

We're going to Bulldog BBQ instead.

My meal at this Five Guys http://gofiveguys.com/menu/five-guys-14th-street which is prob the most expensive Five Guys in America was $9.99...]

I can't have a sit down burger/fries for under $14-$15 (at a minimum) out of pocket.

Of course you can. You just refuse to do so.

The waiter at Red Robin makes $1.50 for my preference of eating a burger not cooked well done and served to me on a real plate for $10.

The waiter at Red Robin makes $0.00 for your preference of eating a burnt burger served in tin foil for $10.

Believe me, the waiter at Red Robin would rather make $1.50 than make $0.00. You're not doing him any favors by claiming the moral high horse of being a big tipper.
As I noted before and I feel majority would Five Guys is better than Red Robin...

Also, with tax, your Red Robin is now $11, plus $2 leaves you at 30% more on a sub par product.
Again, Red Robin is the worst case scenario. There are thousands of restaurants that serve a burger and fries as good or better than Five Guys for $10, especially when they cook it to your preference and don't force you to eat your burger well done.

As for tax, unless you take your Five Guys to go, you're paying dine in tax too. So if tax is 10%, both Five Guys and your diner of choice are at $11. The tip is still $1.50. If you want to tip on the tax, then it's $0.15 for a total of $1.65, which is 15% more than the $11 that BOTH places charged after tax. Where you are coming up with 30% more is fascinating.
I had Five Guys today, prob the most expensive Five Guys in the world... The total was $9.99 after tax.
You ordered the kid's menu burger.
and he drank water. For comparison he drinks beer at the diner.

Fred: Hey Bill! You want to get a burger with me?

Bill: Hey Fred! Sounds good. But I'm too picky to eat crappy fast food burgers. Let's go to a diner.

Fred: I can't go to a diner. I'm too cheap and stingy to tip restaurant peons.

Bill: Hmmm.... Five Guys?

Fred: Perfect! Let's go.

I had 5 guys today. 15 bucks for a burger, regular fries and medium drink.

I won't go back. It is not a terrible burger, but I can pay a helluva lot less to make my own and it will taste better. I am not a huge fan of fries, so that does nothing for me.

I did enjoy the root beer. Its one of my guilty pleasures.
Does the price vary that much depending on where you're located? I've never paid close to $15.

Bill: You know what? I need to get the meat medium rare, even at the expense of an hour of my life and quality of the product. Plus, I only care that I'm allowed to order that, I don't really care if it comes out the right temperature.

Fred: Well, how about Red Robin?

Bill: Hooray!

I think it might. Certainly explains some people's issues.

Its $7 and change for a cheeseburger, $3 and change for regular fries. I never get a drink (never drink soda) so mine comes out to around $10. A drink is around $2 and change. I can see it coming to around $13-$14 and people rounding up to $15. I live in ny

I'm in Louisiana. It's $5.99 for a burger, $2 and change for a small order of fries (which is still huge.). I always get it to go, so no drink.

Similar to John Travolta in Pulp Fiction with the $5 shake, my wife ordered a $5 lemonade at Red Robin years ago. I asked her if there was any liquor in it and she said no. I said fine, but you're getting at least 4 F'ing refills to make it worth while.

Once and for all in this overly long ridiculous thread.

It's not that 5 guys is going to break the piggy bank. But for $10-$15 or whatever the bill comes to, it doesn't feel like good value. Next you have the issue of every burger being burnt into well done and it's part of their slogan. "Our burgers are well done"

A menu that is sometimes hard to read. Why doesn't the burger just come with ket, must, onion, and pickle and then if you want to add or subtract go from there. I don't even like ketchup on my burger but sometimes I don't want to think, just order.

The fries are hit n miss. I do like the malt vinegar.

For $10-$15 in SOuth FLorida I can get a fresh fish meal many places that was caught earlier the same day. For $10-$15 I can get a delicious meal at a lot of places and 5 Guys just doesn't leave me wanting to run back to it.

It's not the money, it's what you get for the money and also what you can't have(burgers cooked to order).

5 guys fanboys are funny. It's like someone made fun of their moms cooking if you mention their burgers are overpriced compared to INO. I like them both, but if we're comparing the burger as is and for the price INO wins for sure.

My personal favorite burger is from Fathers Office (LA place) no substitutions and only cooked MED Rare, but that is a freaking BURGER!!!!
I lived down the alley from that place for 4 years in Santa Monica, used to close the bar at night. Taps incredible and I paid for it tipping the scales once at close to 300. It is a fantastic burger, you cannot order it any way other than they serve it, and the craft beer selection is almost 2nd to none. I think Sierra and Anchor are about the only beers most would even have heard of before entering there.

Not sure why you are pressing the health issue re: a burger and fries.

Positive development over here. Loan just got approved for the new juice bar. We're going to have all your favorites: OJ, cucumber, any kind of veggie you want, beets, ice, the works. Here's the kicker: free Lysol. As many cans as you want. The good stuff too, the extra strength stuff. Shake it up, spray it around, huff it, whatever. Enjoy it however you like. It's free. Fill your pockets with as many cans as you can fit. Still looking for that perfect Valentine's gift? You just found it and it's free. Here you go sweetie. Spray it everywhere, all around. Don't worry. There more where that came from.

Another tasty burger.
Father's Office burger is pretty much untouchable. We ended up not going to Umami and instead went to Plan Check. Great burger. Had a really good stout too. 825 State stout? never heard of it.
Never been to Plan Check, how were the peanuts?
