Five Guys thread, a 130+ page swordfight. (2 Viewers)

5 Guys is literally a ripoff now. What was so great about it pre covid was the price and what you got for that price. Now?

**** that place. Outrageous prices for a burger and frys.

It’s all out of total control IMO. Especially when I can crush it myself on my blackstone and make as good a smash bacon cheeseburger when I crave it.

It’s been over year now that I swore off any fast food and casual dine burgers.

Pure ripoff. Fast food is a
Joke save for Chick Filet.

That is the only fast food I even would eat now. Everything else is crap and expensive crap at that.

I only go there when I have an upside on it which usually is 20-25% off and with my boys (after swim meets we have gone a couple of times) that is $10 back (caps out at $10)

There are now 2 White Castles in Florida (one in Orlando and one in Clermont that just opened), and they're opening 2 more next year in Kissimmee and Daytona.

It's only a matter of time before we get one around here. Cmon, White Castle, let's get the ball rolling!!!
Inedible.

The only hamburger I refuse to eat. Absolutely horrible. I have no idea how they are in business.
The fact that you can find them in your grocery store's freezer section tells you everything you need to know.

Flying into LAX with my boys today. First thing we will do is hit up the In N Out on Supelveda. The boys are excited for the trip and one of the things they are looking forward to is trying In N Out. We had Five Guys last week which my older boy likes a good amount (younger still prefers McDonald's lol).

Every now and again I'll get a craving for a McD's cheeseburger. The OG. Not anything else, just their original cheeseburger, fresh and hot. I don't know why, but that just tastes so good to me.
Same here. The two cheeseburger meal just hits some times.

And their breakfast is tops for fast food, in my opinion. Their hashbrowns/OJ go together so well and the egg mcmuffin with ham is great.

McD's sausage egg McMuffin makes an appearance in my mornings maybe 2 times a year and I eat two of them when I do before I ever exit the car. :bag:
Take out the egg and I am right there with you. Sausage mcmuffin at the start of a road trip or going to early morning travel ball games is amazing.

If I get daring I take a hashbrown and put it in the mcmuffin. Also great
McDs for breakfast before swim meets or volleyball tournaments is not an uncommon thing for me. Outside of that, I rarely go to McDs for breakfast.
When I was 16, I ate 2 McMuffins on the way to the county championship swim meet. They weren't sitting great as I arrived (likely the savage hangover's work) but one must persevere.

Halfway through the 50 meter fly, as I turned at the wall, I threw up enough McMuffin to fill my mouth. Not wanting to let any leak into the pool and jeopardize the entire meet, I had to hold it in my mouth and not breathe for the last 25 meters. As soon as I touched the wall to end the race, I instantly, and basically in one motion, hoisted myself out of the pool, took 3 quick steps to the grass and spit the mouthful of partially digested McDonald's all over the place in full view of hundreds of horrified competitors and spectators. That was fun.

P.S. I clocked a 29.79 and finished 2nd in the county. It might have actually helped me finish faster.
Man up and swallow next time.

Shouldn't that really be woman up? I mean I guess it could be man up as well (NTTIAWWT)

They're popular enough that people want to buy them in grocery stores, I don't see how that makes them less than.

Krystal >> White Castle
Krystal isn't bad, I love the chili cheese pups.

what's the difference to you?

I've eaten at both plenty of times and like them both.
I've only had White Castle twice in the last 20 years, I used to eat Krystal all the time cuz we have them around here...something about the White Castle buns make them taste better...maybe the onions get more caramelized than Krystal? IDK...

I'm not saying White Castle blows them away but if I had a choice I'd go WC

I liked In n Out when I had them in Vegas a few years ago. Kinda like a fresher tasting McDs. Nothing fancy, just a cheap, tasty fast food burger.

Yeah, it's pretty wild. On both counts.Five Guys and fast food in general.

The only solution is for people to stop going. But clearly not enough people have made that decision for it to have an impact.

I stopped eating fast food years ago for financial and personal reasons. For the most part, the business model for fast food screws the employees and the customers both, and I'd rather not participate in that.

But also, I don't find it terribly convenient either.
By the time you go sit in that drive thru line forever, you could already be eating at home.

But this all must be working well for the companies, as far as I can tell.

Although a couple months back I did get a hankering for Taco Bell. Not proud of it, but that garbage is delicious and I do miss it.

I've heard using the apps is the only way fast food is even remotely affordable these days, so I tried downloading it.

Getting that app set up was so incredibly irritating, I just gave up on it.

Pretty thankful that their app sucks because it saved me from a terrible decision.

I have not eaten Taco Bell in 25 years.

I use fast food apps whenever possible. Its great to just pull up to the drive thru, give them my name or order number, and get my food. Minimal interaction with employees is the way to go IMO.

My wife hates taco bell. But there was a month there when she was pregnant when she suddenly ate it almost every day.

I play in a pool league that travels to different bars in the northern Colorado region every Tuesday. Some bars have food, some do not and it's always a toss up. Was going to a new bar and they didnt have a menu on their website so I decided to play it safe and stop at some fast-food place along the way. Turns out, the town the bar was in was small as heck and only had a taco bell. Tried to figure out what half the stuff on the menu was. Ended up with a couple crappy burritos and a drink for like $12.

Of course, I got to the bar and there was a street taco food truck parked right outside, and the rest of my team made fun of me for the rest of the night.

Overall, I'd give the Taco Bell 4 stars... out of 1000 possible stars. Will not do again.

My wife's craving was the garbage instant mashed potatoes from KFC. I would buy like 10 sides of them every weekend and they'd be gone by Wednesday/Thursday.

Took the boys to Tommy's yesterday for lunch. They liked it... more than I thought they would.

In N Out is still king for my older son and McD's for my younger :bagoverhead:

Yep. More importantly you get free stuff or discounts. It's the only way to get fast food. I will say, ive never actually used an app yet. Thats one of my wife's responsibilities. I take care of yard. She uses all fast food apps. Ha ha

Tommy's makes a good burger and fries even without the "chili".

Tommy's, In n Out and Habit are all solid choices. Kid prefers In N Out.
I was going to do Habit last night but after Tommy's for lunch and a lot of hamburgers since we got here... just got pizza.

Can't go wrong with that!

The only thing I get at Taco Bell are the Classic Stackers. They're pretty big and just over two bucks.

Also, KFC chicken sandwich > Chick-Fil-a chicken sandwich.

My daughter asked me to go to Taco Bell yesterday for one thing: A Baja Blast. It was $1. I guess she likes 'em....I've never taken the kids to Taco Bell before so not sure where she came up with it but the price was right.

OK... update...

I got Del Taco for them for lunch since they been wanting to go and definitely needed a break from burgers.

My youngest has given me hope for the future of my blood line.

Current top three rankings:
1. In N Out (not sure why it jumped to top but I will take it.
2. Del Taco
3. McD's

My oldest reranked
1. In N Out
2. Del Taco
3. Rosie's (a Ma and Pop Tri Tip place in Chatsworth)
4. Tommy's... Tommy's got moved down because "It made me poop too much" 🤣 maybe I should have told him that my buddy and I use to call it our "Ba Boom!" Trip. Rule was late at night if one of us said "Ba Boom!" The other was required to go with to Tommy's.

Del Taco was a hit.

Not gonna lie, In N Out is kinda meh

In n Out aspires to meh. So overrated.

You have earned the right to forever be ignored.

Of the actual fast-food restaurants that I've eaten at, In-N-Out is the best. But that doesn't mean it's GOOD. And compared to most of the fast casual places, it's bottom of the barrel.
