Fix this tablet problem (nextbook) (1 Viewer)

My son's tablet all of a sudden won't turn on, and it won't charge.

When i plug in the charger the red light comes on for like 2-3 seconds, then turns off. This happens every time I plug in the charger, unless I plug it in within a couple seconds in which case the red light comes on for like a half second, then turns off.  Then when I wait a minute again and plug it it, the light comes on for 2-3 seconds again before shutting off.

Nothing happens to the tablet, just all of a sudden stopped.  Battery is very likely dead at the moment so a hard start not an option.

This is an Intel Nextbook, maybe 4 months old.

I took the back off thinking maybe I can just mess with the battery, but wow, this is NOT one of those batteries that you can just take out easy.

A lot of the time when this happens the problem is the charging jack has become loose. Happened with my Kindle Fire years ago. If that's the case (and it may not be) the only solution is to open the case up and solder it back in.

Doesn't appear loose.  And it's very strange that it charges for just a few seconds then shuts off, every single time.  The charger is obviously connecting to the port, but for some odd reason won't continue charging.

It could still be loose. May not appear visually to be loose, but if that electronic connection is a slight bit off, the charge won't take. Usual symptom of this would be that you need to prop your cable up on something so that the connector goes in at a slight angle and then it charges fine. From there, every time you do that "trick" it makes the underlying problem worse until re-soldering is the only option.

Again, could be nothing to do with your problem. I'm just telling you my experience.

Gotcha.  That isn't the problem here.  It doesnt matter how I hold it in there, pressing in any direction, does the same exact thing every time.  Red light on for 2-3 seconds, shuts off.

Usually have son diagnose electronics for us have you tried that?

Try a new cord.

Do people usually get top of the line electronics for their young kids?
I do. It's worth the few extra hundred bucks so I don't have to hear this for 78 straight hours:
