1. So nobody can answer my question about the 40 seconds?

2. Those of you who think Zimmerman is innocent: if it turns out it was Martin who screaming, would it change your mind? If not, why?
Who knows, but there is a response time. The caller hears some noise. Listens to it for 10 or 15 seconds trying to figure out what the noise is. Determines that they need to call 911, maybe has to locate their phone. Dials the number. Operator answers. 40 plus seconds later, gunshot. Minimum of a minute, probably longer though. People just don't call 911 when they first hear a commotion.

One piece of evidence that Tim completely ignores is the 911 call of a man screaming for help for over 40 seconds (the screaming had even been going on for a while prior to the call). If Tim's version is correct, why is Zimmerman repeatedly screaming for help? IMO, that pretty much blows Tim's mind reading fantasy version out of the water.
Question: has this been verified? I've heard these screams on TV, but only for a short instance. If they truly went on for 40 seconds (which I admit to being unaware of) then it upsets everything I thought I knew about this case. Does anyone know if the 40 seconds part is true?
I believe those are the same screams independently verified by two experts to be those of a young man, and not Zimmerman. What does it matter how long the screaming was for? The whole thing lasted only a bit longer than that.
There has been no legitimate verification of the voice. Does anyone believe 'Martin was screaming for an extended period of time while he was beating in Zimmerman's face. $100 says it was Zimmerman.
I'm no voice analysis expert and neither are you, so how would you go about verifying this when the experts that have been asked all say it wasn't Zimmerman (or that he can't definitively say)?

the youtube has the 911 call broken down by second, what isn't clear?
Before the first break, there are only 3-4 seconds of screams. After the first break, there are 10-11 seconds of conversation, with about 7 seconds of screams, before the gunshot. Perhaps there is more, but not on the youtube you sent me. At most 15 seconds of screams, which is a big difference from 40. I can see Martin screaming for 15 seconds with a gun pointed at him. I can't see him screaming for 40 seconds with a gun pointed at him. Big difference.
look at the other youtube in the post you replied to - it is the actual 911 call, they were behind her house fighting and you can hear the yells throughout the call - the only edit was to hide her name/address from the public.
I still only hear around 15 seconds of actual screams. What am I missing?

How many times do you think Zimmerman was punched by Martin?
I don't know. Zimmerman's got a broken nose and two cuts to the back of the head. So I would presume at least a few times. What's your theory?
I don't really subscribe to any theory, I just know based on experience and the science that Zimmerman's wounds weren't severe in the least. We went over this before about the cadaver studies and amount of force required to break a nose. I am as unimpressed with Zimmerman's story about what went down as I am with the physical evidence of his so-called near death experience, or with Zimmerman himself, for that matter.

Hypothetically, it's possible that Zimmerman spotted Martin at the convenience store and followed him back onto the property before he even made the call. He then could have proceeded to pursue Martin and shoot him only to then go all Tyler Durden on himself, just to make it look legit. This is absurd, of course; and every bit as plausible as anything we've heard from the Zimmerman's.
Agree 100% which is why I think what I do about this case. The screams ARE problematic, though.
Not really. Not at all.

This is a good thread to find out who all the crazys are.
Read closely, you just may find them.

Someone was screaming. You piece together all the evidence and figure it out. I am 100 percent convinced it was the guy getting his face pounded in. It doesn't take a voice expert to come to that conclusion.

Right not at all, I'm sure that is just Zimmerman acting while he punches himself in the face, knocking his head into the sidewalk.

You are missing a reason to make this a determinative factor.

You think this is a possibility?

1. So nobody can answer my question about the 40 seconds?

jon, I know you think I am being emotional about this case. But if I were honestly convinced that the screaming lasted as long as you claim (even 40 seconds minimum) then I would be hard put not to believe that it was Zimmerman doing the screaming, and therefore Zimmerman probably acted in self-defense.But nothing you have posted convinces me for sure that the screaming lasted that long. I don't know if the caller heard screaming or muffled cries or what. Perhaps she heard Zimmerman first, then Martin at the end. One reason I've always thought it was Martin screaming was because being punched in the face doesn't allow you to scream at the top of your lungs like that- you need all your breath to scream like that. Having a gun pointed at you, IMO, is much more plausible to elicit those kinds of screams than of being continuially punched and having your head pounded against the ground. The latter should produce muffled grunts, even if Zimmerman's face wasn't covered as he claims. So I continue to have a problem with that.

I believe the injuries substained do not have to be serious. It just has to be a reasonable belief that if the fight were to continue they would have been. At what point can we say with utmost confidence would trayvon stop the beating? My guess is he would have beaten him until he was knock out of conscience. Is that serious? I would be hard pressed to say no.
#### yes. And so would I. If I was scared because some dude I didn't know was following me around and came at me with a bunch of interrogative questions instead of identifying himself and a scuffle broke out, I'd pound the dude until he was unconscious. At no time did Zimmerman not present himself as a non-threat to Martin. All he had to do was say "I'm with the neighborhood watch" instead of "who are you, why are you here?". At the time the scuffle happens, Martin doesn't know who this guy is, what he intends, whether he has a weapon or not etc...
This may just be what saves Zimmerman.
Agreed. Mad sweeny, if the person who frightened you to the point of trying to beat him unconscious cried loudly for help well over a dozen times and a neighbor yelled at you to stop your attack and that he was calling the cops, would you still "pound the dude until he was unconscious"?
Dunno. If I became aware during the fight that he was armed, then yes, without a doubt.

This time I counted 20 seconds of screaming. But even that should be too long for it to be Martin, if he's screaming about a gun. On the other hand, it still doesn't make sense to me that Zimmerman would be able to scream like that, will full breath, at the same time as he is being beaten and his head slammed to the ground. Those screams sound like someone is being tortured, not like someone is being physically beaten.

Sigh. I'm more confused than ever. I think I'm going to have to stop trying to guess what happened here and only comment on new facts as they appear. My suppositions are apparently completely screwed up on this case.

20 plus seconds of screaming:

1. It doesn't make sense that it's Zimmerman. We know from his injuries, and his story, that he's being punched and his head slammed to the ground. (At least one witness attests to this as well.) You try screaming at the top of your lungs, repeatedly for 20 seconds, while this is happening to you. Not plausible.

2. It doesn't make sense that it's Martin. If it's for a few seconds, Martin sees the gun pointed at him, figures he's going to die, sure. Martin screams at the top of his lungs for 20 seconds or more while punching Zimmerman? Not plausible.

And yet one of them is screaming. (Unless there's a mysterious stranger.) So somehow the not plausible actually happened. I have no idea.

You're a strange bird Tim. The sympatho-adrenal response tells me yes, no problem. Even if Zimmerman was getting his face pummeled—which he wasn't—he could have screamed at the top of his lungs. Or at least loud enough to be heard on those tapes. On the other hand, his penchant for the dramatic has him having us believe that his mouth was being covered while he was wailed on. I don't think even adrenaline helps him here.

The 911 caller called because she heard screaming. There is screaming from the beginning of the call till past the 40 second mark. Pretty sure all in all there was a good two minutes of screaming.

Where do you get this? How long did the entire confrontation last?
Who knows, but there is a response time. The caller hears some noise. Listens to it for 10 or 15 seconds trying to figure out what the noise is. Determines that they need to call 911, maybe has to locate their phone. Dials the number. Operator answers. 40 plus seconds later, gunshot. Minimum of a minute, probably longer though. People just don't call 911 when they first hear a commotion.

How can you not hear screaming for 40 seconds?
There is another explanation where it could be Martin and last for twenty+ seconds: Martin is on top of Zimmerman, hands over his mouth, slamming his head into the concrete, while he is mocking Zimmerman saying "help, help, call the police"; I do not know if this what happened but could see it happening.

No fair stealing my absurd scenario schtick! which I sheeishly admit to stealing from Zimmerman

I'm no voice analysis expert and neither are you, so how would you go about verifying this when the experts that have been asked all say it wasn't Zimmerman (or that he can't definitively say)?
If I'm O'Mara and Zimmerman is adamant that it is him screaming I provide a tape of Zimmerman screaming to an expert to compare with the 911 tapes.

Zimmerman screamed twice for investigators before he had an attorney. The results were inconclusive because of the quality of the recordings. There's a ton of information this thread has missed. I wish I could post a bunch of it. Funny thing, when listening to the screaming, George said, "That doesn't sound like me." The defense attorney who runs TalkLeft said the investigators screwed up in their instruction to George on how he needed to scream.

Luckily for him Trayvon's dad said the screaming wasn't his son.

It's all in here already. Christo just missed it because he was too busy typing.
Who cares what the Sanford police did? I think it's already been shown they aren't exactly the swiftest bunch.

Not a lot of fleet feet in these parts.

20 plus seconds of screaming:1. It doesn't make sense that it's Zimmerman. We know from his injuries, and his story, that he's being punched and his head slammed to the ground. (At least one witness attests to this as well.) You try screaming at the top of your lungs, repeatedly for 20 seconds, while this is happening to you. Not plausible.2.
It definitely can be Zimmerman, you need to get the MMA picture out of your head, Martin was not an MMA fighter - Z screamed in bursts when he could. I'm sure Martin tried covering his mouth to stop the screaming, he definitely didn't keep his hand over his mouth the entire time. :lmao: at Christo's remark about needing to breathe in a 40 second window.

The 911 caller called because she heard screaming. There is screaming from the beginning of the call till past the 40 second mark. Pretty sure all in all there was a good two minutes of screaming.
Someone was screaming. You piece together all the evidence and figure it out. I am 100 percent convinced it was the guy getting his face pounded in. It doesn't take a voice expert to come to that conclusion.
There was a good two minutes of screaming while Martin was pounding Zimmerman's face in and those cuts and scrapes and two black eyes and a broken nose were all the damage done? This is supposed to make sense? Was Martin pacing himself? Taking it easy?

look above 2 posts...post # 15144 and see the ''damage'' done to zimmy`s face

does this look like the face of someone severely beaten????http://s1.reutersmedia.net/resources/r/?m=02&d=20120717&t=2&i=631091013&w=460&fh=&fw=&ll=&pl=&r=CDEE86G0LQU00
And how do you explain 40 seconds of screaming? With a picture and no context?
Martin was scared of the guy with the gun that had been chasing him. For good reason.
