Florida boy killed by Neighborhood Watch (3 Viewers)

Since we're posting links tonight:Cell Phone Analysis

Why is Trayvon's father refusing to provide the PIN information for Trayvon's phone so it can be analyzed?
who said he had the pin # to begin with? And if he did who cares...all that matters is the phone records show he was on the phone 4 minutes before he was shot to death. All the defense is looking for is something they could use to destroy treys character...another witch hunt to deflect the attention off of the killer.
His father stated to the press he would not help download the information on the phone. You'd think he would do everything in his power to provide the authorities with the information needed to convict Zimmerman. Can you give me one good reason he wouldn't want the information contained on the phone to be made available to the authorities and the lawyers? If it was beneficial to the case against Zimmerman, you better believe he'd be sharing that information. It's not only the phone records that matter - was Trayvon sending text messages, was he taking pictures, was he recording video etc. There are a large number of things on the phone that could be useful to both sides.

And this guy's lawyer says he will use the "Stand Your Ground" defense. The lawyer says the killer thought he saw a gun in the car, felt threatened, and that's why he fired his own weapon.
Not even close to the same situation. One case where a guy is beat the crap out of someone and another where someone sees something which is not there. Just because they are using the same defense does not mean their cases are even remotely similar.
There are those of us who don't buy that George Zimmerman was "beaten the crap out of" and never have. IMO, these cases are strikingly similar as they involve lame excuses for racially based murder.
The evidence more than backs up his claim. Only the degree to which he was being beaten is debatable.
Similarity is this:In both cases, shooter is emboldened to confont victim because he is carrying a gun. If Zimm wasn't packing, damn good chance he never leaves his car. In this case, I would bet all the money I have this 45-y-o businessman does not approach the young black teen had he not been packing heat.

In both cases, men acted in a manner that is more aggressive than they would have without a firearm, and in both cases these men ended up shooting and killing someone. In both cases they created situations that ended up with an unarmed teen getting killed.

The primary difference being that Martin appears to much more of a co-agressor in his case than Jordan does in his.

Both men created situations that had no need to be created and shot and killed unarmed victims. Both should serve serious time for doing so, no matter what the laws say. If you want to try and be some badass but you're such a ##### that the only way you can get yourself out of the situation you created is by shooting someone, then you do not value human life and are a threat to society which society should not tolerate, and you should have your freedom removed. My opinion.
Given that it is legal to carry a gun, perhaps these youths should assume if a 45 y.o. businessman approaches him at night that they should not see it as an invitation to be "so aggressive", as you put it, to force the businessman to shoot him.
Also, your gun does not give you the right to attempt to reshape society into behavior that you find acceptable. Sorry but that really needs to be said. Just because you carry a gun doesn't mean everyone else has to live according to your rules or you have the right to shoot them.SYG is going to be struck down soon, and it can't come soon enough since this is obviously how many people interpret this law.
So apparently youths are allowed to beat the #### out of 45 y.o. businessmen if you get your way, see how easy it is to refute your ridiculous p.o.v.?
All you've shown me is how easy it is for you to completely twist something in your mind and respond to the strawman you created rather than what someone actually said. Are you worth talking to or is this the best I can expect?
What strawman? I am talking about what this thread is about not the tangent that was introduced.
You're responding to a post comparing the two incidents and acknowledging you don't even know about one of the two incidents being compared. And your clarification didn't help. Point is that both men were emboldened to confront someone because they had a gun. Both men ended up killing unarmed, underage victims and both men are facing serious jailtime. In both cases the presence of a gun gave both men enough "courage" to create situations where they took someone else's life and ruined theirs.

It is ridiculous, your unwillingness/inability to see why the phone info could contribute to the case. Where's the ostrich with its head in the sand emoticon.

That is not a strawman. You are leaving out the key difference between the two, I don't need to read the other article to understand one man was severely brutalized. If you want to tell me the other man was too, great. Your whole hypothesis that because someone was able to defend themselves by legally carrying a firearm after being attacked, but only because carrying a gun allowed him the "courage" to approach someone to question them is complete hyperbole.

 Who knows - neither one of us does.

See here's the thing - if this was Zimmerman's phone we were talking about and the refusal to allow it's contents to be examined, you'd be screaming that he was hiding something. Not sure why this is any different (especially as you said, the fact that Martin was using the phone prior to his death was important to the case).

Phone and its contents should be admissible evidence as well as all of his social media profiles which are now disabled/destroyed.

phone data isn't exactly encrypted. The password is just out in front of the Gui. If they have the phone they should be able to pull the data with a warrant by physically removing the flash.

Can you run a warrant on a victim?

One man created a situation and had to defend himself. He was getting beat up and shot his attacker. Does not change the fact that he created the situation by getting out of his car. That he would have remained in the car sans firearm is my opinion and I believe I stated that clearly. -ZimmermanOne man created a situation and felt threatened but in reality, objective or subjective, he did not have to defend himself. However, he still drew his gun and shot an unarmed victim. That he would have not approached the young black teens without his firearm is also my opinion, one that were it possible to see real results, I would be very comfortable wagering all my earthly posessions. In both instances the person who shot created the situation by creating confrontations. Zimmerman by getting out of his car and following Trayvon, 45-y-o by approaching a car and telling them to turn down their music. Both men are obvious and total #######. Both created situations that they didn't have the balls to handle like a man, and both used a gun in a cowardly manner against an unarmed person. In Zimmerman's case, the unarmed person attacked him. In the other case the shooter acted before being attacked in any manner.Zimmerman at least has some case. The crux lies in his ability to convince a jury that he is telling the truth. I don't think he will be able to do this. The other guy has no case at all. He created a situation he couldn't handle and shot someone who had not attacked him. Furthermore, it seems he left at least one witness alive so he does not have the luxury of representing his side of the story with no one to refute it as Zimmerman has. This guy is going to get convicted on murder charges and will live out his days getting the gangrapings he deserves. I'd imagine white dude shooting black teen for having his music too loud won't play well in maximum security prison.I hope all the other wannabe Earps out there follow these two cases closely and realize their gun doesn't give them permission to start #### with people.

We all have no idea what is contained on the phone. Maybe he took video of Zimmerman following him, maybe he sent text messages stating that Zimmerman kept following him, maybe he expressed his fear and concern somehow. On the other hand, maybe he took a video of Zimmerman and said on the video that he was going to take the guy down. Maybe he sent text messages saying that he was going to confront Zimmerman. Who knows? Why are you so against seeing if there is anything there?

Regarding the conversation with the GF - I completely agree. Folks would love to hear what the actual conversation was but we'll never truly get that information (and it's already been shown that the GF has changed her version of the conversation in the number of times she's been spoken to about that aspect).

Going on zimmys own account ,trey was talking on his phone , not texting. The phone convo between trey and his GF went right up until the very point of contact between zimm and trey...so again , no texting. I see the defense trying to use anything it can to disparage treys name or reputation, including something that may be on his phone that had nothing to do with that night...just like C.H has been doing in this thread. Who cares if he got into fights at school...or smoked weed. The parents want to keep the case focused on the man who murdered their son.

You do realize there are always two sides to every story as well, right? I'm sure Martin's parents want to focus on the man who killed their son but Zimmerman also has a right to defend himself against the accusations leveled at him (even if doing that proves that Martin may have been the aggressor). Why do continue to act as if you know exactly what was going on prior to the altercation? The fact that you can't even admit to that says all that needs to be said about your state of mind on the matter. There really is no point in having a discussion with you is there? Your mind is already made up and anything that goes counter to that is disregarded.

No we don't live in the wild west, a world ruled by Wyatt Earps, there are laws regarding assault and people have the right to carry a firearm and defend oneself when attacked. If you had your way we would live in a world ruled by children that are allowed to express themselves with their anger and fists, which you consider having "the balls to act like a man."

That's how devious that grass smoking thug was; he could beat George with one hand, cover his mouth with one and video tape the whole thing with another. Kid was so out of his mind he went Shiva on Zimmerman's ###.

George Zimmerman sues NBC for coverage of Trayvon Martin case

The complaint alleges that NBC News used 'yellow journalism'

George Zimmerman, the man charged with murder in the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, on Thursday sued NBCUniversal Media over its coverage of the Sanford shooting.

The complaint alleges that NBC News used "yellow journalism" when it edited a phone call Zimmerman made to police moments before he shot the South Florida teen on Feb. 26.

"Defendants pounced on the Zimmerman/Martin matter because they knew this tragedy could be, with proper sensationalizing and manipulation, a racial powderkeg that would result in months, if not years, of topics for their failing news programs," the lawsuit states.

The company issued a statement saying it never intended to portray Zimmerman unfairly and would defend itself in court.

The suit, filed in Seminole County by attorneys Mark O'Mara of Orlando and James Beasley of Philadelphia, accuses NBC of igniting "media arson" in March when it spliced a portion of the call between Zimmerman and a dispatcher "to juxtapose unrelated content to make it appear that Zimmerman was a racist and that he was racially profiling Trayvon Martin."

In the edited audio, Zimmerman tells a dispatcher that Trayvon, who was visiting family in Zimmerman's neighborhood, "looks like he's up to no good. He looks black." In fact, the dispatcher asked whether Trayvon was "white, black or Hispanic" and Zimmerman replied, "He looks black."

The suit contends that NBCUniversal failed to report Zimmerman's Hispanic heritage while emphasizing Trayvon's race. Reports also used misleading photos of both, the complaint alleges.

The story sparked international protests calling for Zimmerman's arrest — in some cases, dead or alive.

Zimmerman is claiming defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. No dollar amount is mentioned.

The lawsuit also names NBC reporters Ron Allen, Lila Rodriguez Luciano and Jeff Burnside. Luciano and Burnside were fired because of their work on the case, according to the suit.

Representatives of NBCUniversal could not be reached. Previously, they have said the conversation between between Zimmerman and the dispatcher was shortened to save air time.

I hope all the other wannabe Earps out there follow these two cases closely and realize their gun doesn't give them permission to start #### with people.
No, in my world anyone caught gunning down an unarmed kid because they started #### they couldn't handle would see a minimum of 20 years in prison. It would be called the "don't start #### if you are too big of a ##### to handle it without shooting someone" law.Seems like you are the only one having trouble with what I am saying here.

I can play that game too: In your world, Zimmerman would be dead and Martin would be spending the rest of his living days in jail for murder.

Or Zimmerman would have a bloody nose and both guys would still be alive. Love how you gloss over the fact that your diatribe was off base by going on the attack with a canard. Besides, If Martin killed him he could make up a bs stand your ground defense like your little hero Zimmerman is.

What is so hard about grasping what happened here. You have one 17 yo teenager, who`s only mistake was being brought to stay at his dads GF`s community ,that just so happens to be guarded by a vigilante named Zimmerman. Oh ya...and being black at night while wearing a hoodie.

He's turned killing a black teenager into quite a lucrative job.

Have you never been in a fistfight? People tend to live through them...

Have you ever been in a fistfight with someone pounding your head against pavement while they yell at you I am going to kill you? Don't go there.

Actually I have been in a fistfight with someone (much bigger than me) on top of my beating my head into the pavement, yet here I am today. Wondrous...

Also I don't remember any proof about Trayvon yelling anything. Seems like if Zimm's muffled cries for help made it onto an audio recording, so would screams of "I'm going to kill you."

I saw where Zimmerman's legal defense fund has pulled in about $140K, is near depletion, and he still hasn't paid any attorneys fees. Apparently, all the money has gone toward bodyguards and living expenses. Now he's trying to raise money by selling signed thank you cards.http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/news/2012/11/29/george-zimmerman-to-sell-signed-thank-you-cards-for-legal-expenses/

Anyone who continues to defend this guy is just plain crazy.

About 6% of murders in the US in 2011 were done via hands or feet (no firearms, knives or other weapons) - that's a little bit higher than the 0% personal experience you are referencing.

That explains everything.Don't assume everyone is as thick headed as you.

It is perfectly normal to fear for one's life the first time this happens to someone.

Care to explain this? I was asked if I had ever been in that position and I replied honestly that I have.

Not sure what there is to explain - yourself and a number of other folks are commenting that all he had was a bloody nose (and you yourself commented that you survived getting a beating similar to what happened to Zimmerman). I'm just pointing out that one doesn't need a weapon to kill someone.

So you're saying because I have a 0% death rate from beatings, doesn't mean people can't die from them. OK.

What % of the 6% were beatings and what % were strangling? Have a link to this research?

But to address the bigger picture, this entire case rests on Zimmerman's character which will determine how much the jury believes him and empathizes with him.

For the supporters, how do you think he's doing on this score?

Since you were minimizing the chance of death occurring due the use of force utilizing ones hands, I was just pointing out it can and does happen. That's all. As for the research, here's what the FBI says on the matter:

Whatever you say Carnac. In the heat of a battle, people say that kind of stuff all the time. We get it, you think Zimmerman is a scumbag racist liar and Martin is a saint.

Clifford, give it up.What % of people that get their heads bashed against pavement repeatedly without anyone intervening or without the person on the bottom capable of getting the other person off of them either die or need to be hospitalized for their injury, feel free to break down die vs. hospitalized. Do you see how ridiculous you sound now?

That is the problem, most people on a jury will not be habitual fighters as some seem to be on this thread. Most of the jurors will probably have never been in such a fight where punches where thrown, at least not since grade school. I don't think many on the jury will be too sympathetic towards someone who was beating on another person.

 I'd say the odds of an attorney taking this case without a sizable down payment is petty slim* - unless they were shooting for the notoriety.

Likely for the notoriety. This was from when O'Mara signed on...George Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara told reporters after his client's first court appearance Thursday that Zimmerman is "indigent" and that he hasn't taken any money from the neighborhood watch captain accused of murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, RadarOnline.com is reporting.

Yesterday I caught a round table of attorneys discussing the case and reporting that Zimmerman hasn't paid any attorney fees. I'm not sure how they'd be privy to that info, but that's what they were reporting.

Well Tim, I'd say the evidence that Martin put a beat down on Zimmerman after being approached greatly outweighs your theory that Zimmerman racially profiled Martin, reported him to the cops so that he could then proceeded to chase him down so he could murder him.Occam's Razor
