"Fluid" Asst Coach, Robert Saleh - GB and formerly the head coach of the 2024 New York Jets (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

Footballguy
They lost 10-9 to the Denver Broncos yesterday
He's entering Year 4
20-35 overall record as Head Coach of the New York Jets
Father to 7 children including 5 sons and 2 daughters, his wife Sanaa is entering sainthood
Love him as a person but the coaching seat is getting red hot right now
Would the Jets change head coaches mid stream this season?
Who could they bring in and get better results?

He is being lit up in the New York media today, all over Youtube on podcast and local NYC sports shows

That has never been Woody's M.O. I doubt there is a switch.

That being said this London Game could be very interesting if they no show.

Also, seems to be a bit of friction between him and Rodgers...at least from the Rodgers side...

woody is a poor owner and i don’t remember the jets recently, if ever, firing mid season. they usually let their crappy coaches stink out the entire season. heck, they gave gase full years. also, they have no coordinator that stands out as a take over candidate.

exactly - 0 percent chance Woody fires Saleh in season. He's going down with the ship

KC has sustained major injuries, they are not going to be sprinting down the finish
Bills are still a quality team but they're young and Allen doesn't have great cohesion with all his guys yet
The Ravens got off to a rough start but now look poised to rise the rest of the season to one of the Top 3-4 in the AFC and they are

And???....you see what I mean? There are not a lot of dominant looking teams. The Texans haven't looked great despite the 3-1 record
Nobody else is unbeatable and so there is room for a team like the Jets to fill the void but then they lay an egg at home against Denver, thy could not lose that game

Nix was 12/25 for 60 yds? Is that a misprint?
How is that even possible?

He needs to be gone. The comments to the media following the underperformance this year are pathetic. I've been a huge Salah supporter and fan, but it seems that support may have been unwarranted. It's starting to feel like he's been given a free pass because of lackluster QB play, but he's running out of excuses. He doesn't seem to understand how to run a team of men, not yet anyway. He needs more experience under a real head coach and I believe he will get there some day, but some of his behavior recently has reminded me a little too much of Josh McDaniels. Immature inexperience.

only the jets make the impossible possible - thats an ugly game that Rodgers won countless times in Green Bay...

besides not being a good HC in general - its the constant rotation. They hire a players coach and then a disciplinarian....how about just a good coach. Saleh is a perfect DC - but he is an awful HC. Cant control the team. Knows zero about offense. Constantly outmatched on gameday and his team is completely undisciplined. Im sure he'll go to SF and end up being a premiere DC but just not a HC. Even though he has had success - I dont miss Bowles either - another great defensive mind and not HC

I think the Jets job will be very appealing to potential coaches. That is a very good roster - just think Saleh is in over his head as a head coach at this point.

no one better to replace him makes most sense to fire him after season. Saying he needs to be gone without a clear upgrade doesn't make sense.

Looks like NYJ defense has taken a step back. SF ran all over them easily with little sweat and vs DEN Nix run offense couldn't stop TD score. Not talking about playing a vaunted offense. Can't blame HC on that.

Rodgers is old as dirt can't compare to GB days those are long over.

I agree. Didn’t mean now, but he shouldn’t get another season outside of some sort of miracle turnaround.

Why are we firing this guy? He’s a defensive coach and that defense has been good to great.

Might want to look at whoever the GM is.

The QB play there has been atrocious. Trading for Reddick without a plan to get him on the field.

It’s going to take Rodgers a little time to get up to speed. That Denver D is good.

And there it is. Surprised it happened right now after Rodgers played so poorly against the Vikes, and this is exactly how you divide a team and create a disaster, but this is something that had to be done. Saleh is not ready to be a HC. I'm a firm believer in ripping off the band aid, but I'm just not sure they did it for the right reasons in this case. Rodgers seems to have taken complete control of this team, and I don't believe it's going to work out. At least the Jets were smart enough not to put that dolt Hackett into the interim role as I'm sure Rodgers probably pushed. Now we just need him to talk Randall Cobb to come out of retirement...:bored:

Who exactly is running the ship now?
Would Adams really want to be traded to what looks like a potential dumpster fire?

Has any team ever fired a coach 5 games into the season and then rebounded and had a deep Playoff Run?!
Certainly not a Super Bowl that I can recall

In some ways you have to fire Saleh but it also signals the season is mostly OVER even though it really isn't but it will turn certain players inside out
Maybe we as FF community didn't think highly of Saleh and his wins and losses record, all we heard about was how much players love him
Some of those players are not gonna be happy about this

I actually think the Jets could look worse in coming weeks especially on Defense

Hackett has to go too.

signed,
person with large % of breece hall in best ball
This is the Rodgers' Jets, no way Hackett goes. I'm surprised Rodgers didn't talk the Jets into Hackett being the interim HC, but I'm in 100% agreement. He's inept. Inept as a HC and inept as an OC. Sure he had good years with Aaron around, but that was a prime Rodgers calling the shots and making his guy look great vs Hackett putting the team in a position to win. I'm sure Aaron likes him because he doesn't push back. This is officially a **** show now. :poop:

Rodgers is running this show. That much is crystal clear.

Of course Adams will want to go. He proved to everyone winning wasn't at the top of his priority list when he signed the deal with the Raiders. He'll catch a ton of balls with the Jets. Look how Rodgers has locked onto Lazard (10 targets for 4 catches when you have Wilson and Williams WTF???). It will be even worse with Adams, but Adams will get his and likely get one more big extension as a result.

He had no control of the team from the moment Rodgers walked through the doors. Saleh's comments to the media this season were were panicked and immature. I've said this before, but I still believe he will be a great head coach some day and this experience will be invaluable, but he simply wasn't ready to lead a team. Someone will bring him on as a DC, he will do great, and he will get another shot down the road.

Rodgers or not, Saleh failed to assert dominance in his leadership role and it cost him his job. He ran out of excuses and Rodgers played him like a fiddle to get him out. Jets are one of the worst franchises in the NFL right now. I agree with your take on the GM.

I call on @karl.Racki who was quick to point out the exchange between Saleh and Rodgers during a Win a couple weeks back and you try to not make a lot out of it but looking back...
It was a direct view in how Rodgers has little to no respect for Saleh and didn't want him coming up and cheering him like a fan boy every time the Jets scored

I don't understand why Rodgers would want Saleh fired, if that was the case he shoulda spoke up end of last season and gotten someone else in the off season
5 weeks in, gonna be hard to save the season
That said, the Jets win and they are tied for 1st Place in the East

They should have fired him after last season. He's not a HC, he's a DC. Just like Brian Flores.
I firmly believe both have the potential to be great head coaches in this league, and I also believe both will get another chance to prove it at some point but neither were close to ready when they were handed the keys, and it showed. Put Vance Joseph in the same category.

Rodgers is a strange breed. Their personalities didn't mesh and Rodgers wanted him gone. I honestly don't think it was more than that. Regardless of my thoughts of Saleh as a HC, this was petty. Rodgers could have chosen to be the company man and make Saleh look good (as he did with Hackett) vs tearing the man down through manipulation and ensuring he got fired.

I just traded Wilson after this news. I can only imagine that locker room and the tyrannical powers Rodgers wields. I'm out.
I’m thinking about trading for Rodgers. If he’s running the show and just wants to sling it. Let it fly.
There’s no way that I would want Rodgers on my FF roster. Plays slow so they run fewer plays. Methodical. No rushing. Potential picks galore due to tight windows and not being in sync with his receivers (see Mike Williams)

I disagree - especially if they land Devante Adams. History has shown Rodgers plays very well when backed against the wall. They have weapons- 0 chance they include Wilson in any deal - He can be had for cheap so Id buy as a bye week/backup QB at this time.

had an epic rain here in italy and my roof is leaking in multiple spots, i went outside in a driving rain on a terracotta roof with a tarp and some tiles to try to stem the water. all while nursing a 3 week ear infection and having a piece of tissue in my ear making me a bit dizzy. i am cold and soaked thru, yet for some reason, i just smiled a bit.

Not sure why the Jets want to hand the reins over to a 40-year-old quarterback who isn't as careful with the ball as he used to be. Will he even be there next year? I guess they're just giving up and will start fresh in 2025.

Maybe they can trade for Sam Darnold in the offseason...

Sams a free agent next year unless the Vikes tag him.
