Foods With the Best Taste/Calorie Ratio (1 Viewer)

Are we talking foods or condiments here?

If it's food, bacon cannot be beaten at around 40 calories per slice. That means I can eat 15 slices of bacon or a big mac. Not close.

I call bull#### on 40 cal/slice.
People vastly overestimate calories in bacon.

It's 130 cal/oz

A slice is not a great way of measuring calories because every slice is different. Always go by weight.

Right, and after cooking the weight of bacon is greatly reduced. There are close to 4 slices of cooked bacon in an ounce.

I recently put together a list of foods that have really good carb to fiber ratios. Not quite the same as this but it may be helpful to some. The good news is avocados are awesome in that regard. Here is the list with the carb:fiber.

Endive 1.05 Flaxseed 1.06 Psyllium Husk 1.11 Chicory greens 1.13 Chia Seed 1.22 avocado 1.28 Collards 1.39 Mustard greens 1.46 Coconut meat, dried 1.46 Spinach 1.56 Almonds 1.72 Blackberries 1.81 Rasberries 1.84 Asparagus 1.85 Celery 1.86 Artichoke 1.95 Eggplant 1.96 Lentils 1.97 Sesame seeds 1.99 Radishes 2.13 Chard 2.25 Cabbage 2.32 Broccoli 2.52 Cauliflower 2.53 Oyster Mushrooms 2.65 Green Bell Peppers 2.73 Red Bell Peppers 2.87 Zucchini 3.11 Strawberries 3.84 Black Beans 4.02 Oat Bran 4.04 Pears 4.91

I'm :shuked:

mustard and salsa are top picks

watermelon comes close because of the added side effects :pickle:
What are the side effects of watermelon?
it contains L arginine which is natures viagra
citruline is natures viagra which increases nitric oxide production. Viagra works by dramatically increasing nitric oxide production. Without nitric oxide you can't get an erection.

arginine is the money shot protein because it increases the volume of semen produced which can increase fertility.

Both are in watermelon, but you get them in many other forms as well. If you just take a scoop of whey protein you get 4x more arginine than 1 cup of watermelon.

 Nice. I'll keep this mind.

I've always wondered why mustard has zero calories. Doesn't seem possible with how good it is.
It likely has a few calories in a serving. The FDA (if that's the correct org) allows nutrition labels to say "0 calories" as long as the actual amount is less than 5. So if you're really careful about counting calories (using MFP), good idea to pay attention to that and serving size. I put a ####load of Frank's on a lot of things and usually count it as 50 cals just to be safe

L31. What are insignificant amounts of nutrients?

Answer: These are the amounts that are permitted to be shown as zero on the Nutrition Facts label (e.g., less than 5 calories may be expressed as 0 calories) except that for total carbohydrate, dietary fiber, and protein, it is the amount that can be declared as “less than 1 g” on the Nutrition Facts label. 21 CFR 101.9©
