Footballguy
Now that just about everyone and their brother are members of footballguys... The advantage is GONE! It's almost like every article, every strategy is used by many many fantasy football people. This isn't bad on the footballguys business side, but I think the advantage is gone! Don't get me wrong I love the site, read the articles, news and forums... but I don't see the advantage anymore. I guess it's like anything else, the more reading, research, planning you do the better off you are.

What are your guys thoughts?

You'd be surprised at how few footballguys subscribers spenda lot of time on the forums. Several members of my league are subscribers, and they don't even KNOW about the Shark Pool...I'm obviously not saying anything. IMHO, the time you spend here is vastly more important than the rankings and projections you have access to. Finding out about injuries and player news before others do is the number one way to separate yourself nowadays, and this is the best place to get that information. I agree with your last statement. Tools don't build the house. It's the effort, insight and creativity with which you use them that defines your craftsmanship.

Dude, you joined yesterday. Plus, this is a guide not an advantage.

FBG doesn't replace thinking and making decisions for yourself. That's why there are lots of staff doing rankings, articles, 4 guys doing projections, etc. It has never been meant to allow you to abdicate the responsibility of one's own choices. We can all have the same info available, and some will use it well and some will use it poorly. Hopefully you'll be one who uses it well.

You obviously haven't purchased the right membership package. Mine entitles me to access to Tremblay, Dodds and Terftoellier 24 hours a day via telepathic link.

Well, you just got here, so...
No I just didn't get here! This name just got here! Like I said I love the site, but it seems as if everyone is using the site and the same strategies are vastly being used by many people. I'm not knocking footballguys at all because I've been a member for many years and will for many more... What I'm saying is some or most of the strategies may be useless considering many people are using the same. It's obvious that preparation is key.

GUIDE what guide? This is fantasy football info. I'm saying the cat is out of the bag and maybe another angle needs to be looked at.

If you know how to draft for value, it doesn't matter what strategies the other guys are drafting with.

If the rest of the world is uneducated, you are better off if you are educated. The converse is not true.

You don't seem to get the point and you stated the obvious on making decisions for yourself. Like I said I love the site, find some articles useful. Not that I argee with some of the strategies. My point is everyone uses the same strategies... and when footballguys wasn't as "commercial" as it once was there was more of an advantage for using the site. Maybe reading the news section article for article... blogs... articles... whatever... Again my point is with so many people using the same site it's almost like the advantage of having or using the strategies is gone! Again maybe another angle needs to be looked at... Twitter may just have been the idea... but maybe there's others...

Before, access to FBGs was an advantages because you knew things the rest of the league didn't. Now, access to FBGs is an advantage because you know what the rest of the league knows. When I'm drafting, I know that at least half the people in my league are using the DDominator (it might actually be 100% by now) with the stock projections (that they're just tweaking up and down based on their "gut"). That knowledge is a great advantage, because I know who's showing up at the top of everyone's list (even if that player isn't necessarily their top rated remaining player), which gives me an edge when trying to predict who is going to make it back down to me with my next pick. Also, it's a league that rewards punt return yardage, and the FBG stock projections don't include return yardage, so that's another chance for me to take advantage (while the FBG-reading leaguemates are grabbing the Jerricho Cotcheries of the world and thinking they present great value, I'm gobbling up the Devin Hesters).

"Again my point is with so many people using the same site it's almost like the advantage of having or using the strategies is gone! "

phase 2: now it's about execution, not just strategy.

I assume everyone uses FBGuys. If you use the DD for a redraft it's pretty easy to pick out who does. I like the contest and a couple features....

Yes you are right not everyone uses the same strategy. I'm saying the strategies are no longer a secret, if they ever were. Maybe I mean it's funny to watch maybe half thepeople in all my leagues use the strategies here. I guess maybe it has become an advantage for me because it's almost like I can smell the start of a strategy. However, the advantage of some of the strategies stated here are gone. At least in my opinion.

I must have missed a few posts. This is exactly my point. The strategies are "sold out".Back in the late early 90s many people using magazines were the "advanced".The mid 90's brought out the customized printouts...Then maybe in the late 90's the people using the "spreadsheets" became the "advanced" and used the magazine rankings as a tool to further advance themselves from others...A mix of many software advancements and ideas (SOS, RBBC...) came in the mix in the early 2000-2005Now is footballguys the old? What is the new angle? Is it twitter... or maybe this puts the FBG staff to work..Yes, podcasts.. articles, organzized news is here! FBG is making a killing.. great for them..What's next?

GUIDE what guide? This is fantasy football info. I'm saying the cat is out of the bag and maybe another angle needs to be looked at.
The angle this:You make strong decisions based on disagreeing with the norm, the ADP, the projections, etc.

Think about it, if everyone is down with FBG, then you know everyone's draft boards. Think that's a little bit of an advantage?

There are 4 other owners in one of my leagues that uses Draft Dominator. And I know they don't tweak the projections that much, and pretty much just do what it tells them to do. That is a big, big advantage for me, because if I like a guy ranked lower by FBG, maybe I wait another round or two.

I think it is good that so many people use FBGs. It means they have more people to answer to and they have to stay current. It means you get feedback from thousands of people on the forums.

Instead of thinking about it as strategy, think about it as education. Because more people are coming here, more people are getting educated on FF, and FBG keeps getting better. If you choose not to partake in FBG, you are missing out on some great education. Sure, more people are using it so you might not have the advantage you once had. But if you don't use it now, you will be at such a big disadvantage that you will have trouble fielding a competitive team.

And I'm not just talking about FBG. There are a lot of good sites for FF information, and you should use whatever ones offer you the best education. For a lot of people, that's this site.

I don't know, but not much beats reading the hometown paper of the player you're looking at and what the beat writer has to say. And that's been going on for a while.

AGREED!But like anything else, time will catch up!

Like the use of magazines went out years ago...

Will FBG go out too!

Someone bigger and better is about to come along!

Will FBG stay one step ahead of the game?

I mean I have my own strategies and read the ones here for sh4ts and giggles and to assume what many people are using. Just like when I watched years ago, 7 of 10 people draft out of a magazine. Then people caught on and stopped using magazines for better and more powerful things.

True! but can't you find that anywhere?
