I'm always game to step up if Chaos pulls a Minnesota.

All right I give the #3 pickand acquire the #7 along wth his 3rd and 4th rounder (please confirm the numbers of these picks Dolfan)

He will post his pick momentarily.

I believe Chaos and I (Minny) have a deal worked out.  I'll let him announce and I'll confirm and make my pick shortly after.
So another 3 hours?
When you make a trade, the team moving up only has 1 hour to pick... Hopefully it will not take Minnesota too long to make their pick since we all know pretty much who it is going to be

I am sure we will have a rush at some point with 3-5 picks going in a hour

The draft so far has been a fun demonstration of the principles of supply and demand. Lots of supply on the backs. Not nearly as much on the WRs. Taking Williams at #1 also seems like the safer pick...... He may not have quite the upside as Edwards, but is a whole lot less likely to bomb.

I agree totally, I think Braylon and Big Mike are way infront of the competition at WR. I really don't think anyone wants Rodgers or Alex Smith on their team (at least the people on this board.)I think SF can get either one at 12 in this draft.

Guys,I really didn't expect this slow of a pace, especially at the beginning... Perhaps part of the problem is in allowing trades. My intent with this was to make this draft more fun, but also more realistic as trades DO happen in the real draft. It seems I may have failed on both accounts :( That said, if you all want to cut down on the time limits further -- maybe to 2 hours per pick (from 10-6 M-F) and maybe to get rid of the trade extension all-together, I'm all for it... I'd say we need about 10-15 votes from GMs to get err done..On a side note, I updated the front page to show the draft order for the 2nd through 4th rounds. I think I got it right, but it is very possible I made a mistake. Anyone with good info on this -- if you could check my work for me and let me know of any mistakes, I would appreciate it.. TIA

Confirm trade with Chaos:

To CLE - #7, 3rd and 4th

To MIN - #3

1.03 Braylon Edwards WR

I'll complete a detailed write up this evening.
Chicago went on the clock here...Has until 5:19pm EST to make their pick...

Hopefully they will do something sooner than that tho...

I am for the 2 hour time limit and for allowing the trades to happen.
Sorry, getting rid of trades wasn't an option.. Only getting rid of the time extension allowed if you are in trade talks...

So far, we've got 8 GMs who want to shorten the time-limit to 2 hours and 1 who doesn't...Anyone else want to have a say???What about the extra hour to get a trade ironed out? Should the time extension for trades stay or go??

30 minute trade extensions...

2 hr is too short

It shouldn't ever take me 2 hr's but I have to work. I can't guarantee I will be able to check it that often.
PMing your picks along to the next person is still an option, no?

With Kevin Carter and Vonnie Holliday locked up in Miami, and Jason Taylor slated to move to rush OLB in the Saban 3-4 system, I see no reason to reach for Derrick Johnson.$0.02

Jason, Sorry if I came off harsh on you earlier... I do enjoy the conversation and in the end you will probably be right about this, BUT....

Who do you think would play opposite Jason Taylor at the other OLB spot?

Junior Seau?

Please. Seau will make a fine teacher, and DJ will learn a lot from him this year....

Also, what do you mean by "rush OLB"?Do you think Taylor is incapable of dropping back into pass coverage on the crossing routes or in playing the run from the OLB spot?

And I knew about the Holliday and Carter signings and, in fact, think it makes drafting DJ even more of a probability. That's why I mentioned it in my original write-up...

Travis Henry is available via trade if any team's are interested in acquiring a young, inexpensive, proven Pro Bowl RB.

:cue Tagliabue:

With the 4th pick, the Chicago Bears select:

RONNIE BROWN, RB AUBURN

Drafting best player available here. 2 biggest needs are wr (still) and o-line, but there is nobody worth taking at 4 at those positions. Brown might very well be the best player in the entire draft at this point. 6’0, 230 lbs with blazing speed, great receiver out of the backfield and a very willing blocker, and on top of all those…..with VERY LOW MILEAGE. New o/c Ron Turner wants to pound the ball, bring back some traditional Bears football values, and Thomas Jones has too many question marks. He has not proven he can hold up under a feature back’s workload, he didn’t play well when times were tough, with the bad qb play and banged up o-line. Brown appears to be a guy that Turner and the offense should be able to lean on at all times, and if this guy plays up to his measurables, the Bears have got themselves a very special player, a real star.

I would’ve taken Edwards here if he were on the board, but Brown is no consolation prize. Just think Edwards would’ve filled more of a need, but with Muhammed in the fold, the desperation with which we needed a wr was gone, leaving us in a good position to sit back and take the best player that fell to us, and low and behold he may be the best player in the draft.

Rumors are that the Bears are going to add Fred Miller to play rt. If true, combining him with Muhammed and now a Ronnie Brown, the Bear offense would be just about ready to make a run at the division title.

Smartest pick of the draft so far IMO!!!!
