? for FBGs regarding player ranking methods (1 Viewer)

While discussing with Yudkin in another thread, it became obvious that the Staffs player rankings are based only on total points for the year. While that may work for some leagues, I'd venture to guess that the vast majority of leagues that your membership participates in are playoff format.

With that said, while Brady may outscore Brees on the season, if that's not the case during the playoff weeks, then this would make Brady less valuable IMO.

Is there a way to add a tool to the site that takes the Staffs projections/rakings and allows you to customize them for whatever are your playoff weeks? I'm not talking about an article here or there, I'm talking about an always current application.

Yes, I know it's important to rank based on total points, but it is equally important to rank based on playoff weeks IMO.

Any consideration would be appreciated.

I think part of the problem is the unpredictability of the weather during the fantasy playoffs. If your guy is in a dome or warm weather city, you have one less thing to worry about.

For example. Week 15. Brady has carried you into the semi-finals of your fantasy playoffs. he goes up against the Bills, a team he should torch. But this is Buffalo, NY on December 20th. if it's just cold, then you are golden. But if it is snowing, sleeting, etc...you are hosed. That is EXACTLY what happened to all the Brady owners in week 15 of 2007.

While I agree that weather is unpredictable, it still has to be factored in when the staff is doing their projections. So, just give us playoff week rankings as well as total points rankings and everyone is happy.

How would you suggest factoring in the weather 4 months from now?Are you going to be the one to tell them what the weather is going to do on December 13, 20, and 27 at 1PM Eastern?

obviously that can't be done. But I still insist that anticipated weather for those weeks (based upon educated guesses) should be a consideration. It doesn't take a meteorologist to know that the weather in Buffalo, NY on 12/20 is not likely to be all that good.

If people really want to get a better idea how players are projected in their particular scoring system in their particular playoff weeks, the Data Dominator can be set up with the most recent projections INCLUDING THOSE FOR WEEKS.

Simply go to the Schedule section under Setup. Set all games to NONE except for your playoff weeks and the resulting list will rank the players for just those weeks.

FOr example, using the base settings for a new league (ie, what the DD is set at with no changes), in Weeks 14-16, Brady is projected at 61.4 points and Brees at 60.9 for those three weeks.

Thank you !! Precisely my point in the other thread. For all intents and purposes, in those critical weeks, they are interchangeable. Now throw in the potential bad weather for Brady and the 3 dome games for Brees, and THAT is why I see them as pretty even.

And the other 13 weeks don't count?Look, I understand what you are saying and we don't need to keep dancing in and out of different threads. But if Brady and Brees are even for those three weeks, but Brady is 5 points a game better in the other 13 weeks, would they still be considered even?I'm not saying that by defauly Brady is 5 points a game better than Brees in those game, but if he were, would they still be even? If Brady did go on another TD rampage, then he COULD be that much better the other weeks.

Not sure how you do your rankings, but I tend to consider things like:Home vs. AwayWeather vs. DomeSOSetc.Week 16, are you saying it is not effective to consider Brees in a dome vs. Brady outdoors in the Northeast?
