Damn. He has been the most effective Japanese prime minister of all time, regardless of politics. Only quit due to ill health, otherwise he would still be PM. A true force in world politicsReports (according to twitter) are he's showing no vital signs.
Looks like what Malkovich used in In the Line of Fire.
who is "they"?If they can get to a former Japanese PM in Japan with a gun, they can get anyone. This is going to be a scary decade even with the 2 years we've already had.
I'm not sure of the motivation behind the suspect, but on an unrelated note look at Sri Lanka. They are chasing the politicians through the streets. Things get real very quickly when people have no fuel or food.If they can get to a former Japanese PM in Japan with a gun, they can get anyone. Definitely awful. He seemed very well liked and a good man.RIP. A tragic day for those of us that detest political violence within democracies.
People willing to take political violence to the next level?who is "they"?
I just hope this doesn't give the crazies we have here in the USA any ideas.
Japan isn't Sri Lanka and from what I understand, Abe was liked by the Japanese people.I'm not sure of the motivation behind the suspect, but on an unrelated note look at Sri Lanka. They are chasing the politicians through the streets. Things get real very quickly when people have no fuel or food.
He was very outspoken against China and communists is general. The shooter was supposedly Korean. Haven't seen that confirmed though.who is "they"?
China is celebrating this.

Shotgun shell booby traps / perimeter alarms are pretty common in survival skills.Of course they are, so is Russia. Johnson quits and now this.
Saw how the home made gun was made on the news this morning. Pretty simple.
I doubt Russia was celebrating Johnson quitting. He's not exactly Churchill.Of course they are, so is Russia. Johnson quits and now this.

You can either use a simple trip Wilderness Perimeter Alarm (5th Ops makes a nice one that works with 12ga, 308, 22lr, etc) to set off the 12 gauge shell fairly harmlessly (but will scare the #### out of the intruder, AND let you know they're around).
OR you can integrate steel conduit pipe to direct the charge and turn it into a booby trap to shoot whatever triggered the trip wire. Good for survival hunting (in areas you're comfortable there's no humans around)... or for security (scenario dependent)
It used to be considered murder if a property owner set up booby traps and it killed someone. Has that changed?
Got it, thanks GB.It is, which is why I said it is scenario dependent. This is more for SHTF / Wilderness Survival use... not really practical in 99.999% of daily life.
That said... simply using option 1 is very viable as it is very unlikely to hurt anyone, but will be very effective at scaring them off or putting them on your radar.
Setting a booby trap capable of being lethal is a felony, even on your own property. If you kill someone with it it's felony murder. It used to be considered murder if a property owner set up booby traps and it killed someone. Has that changed?
I wasn't talking so much about Japan, as I think the guy I quoted was talking more general.Japan isn't Sri Lanka and from what I understand, Abe was liked by the Japanese people.
According to NPR he was a divisive arch-conservativeJapan isn't Sri Lanka and from what I understand, Abe was liked by the Japanese people.
That's basically a confirmation he was liked. NPR also said Castro was a hero when he died.
