Fort Worth Bowl (1 Viewer)

Fort Worth Bowl- Houston v Kansas-Interesting game in that the best players are Houston offense versus Kansas defense. The Kansas offense and the Houston defense are both very young and considerably weaker even though Kansas put up plenty of points in this game.

Houston

Kevin Kolb 6'3 220 (jr)- looks the part of NFL prospect at QB with arm strength and mobility. In this game he did not get much help from his teammates, but Kolb started to force the ball and tried to make things happen that were not there. Also, will have run the exact weird offense for 8 years and will probably need a year of two of development as a pro. Very Draftable in 2007. Mid-rounds IMO.

Ryan Gilbert-5'10 215- thick back who looks to do everything ok, but never had a chance to do too much in this one. FA type.

Vincent Marshall 5'9 175 Kr/Wr prospect did not contribute much. Late round/FA type.

Kansas

Charles Gordon CB 5'11 180- multi-talented athlete who made a couple of nice catches on offense. He will probably be a CB/KR in the pro. If he declares, he could go in the first, but I would expect the 2nd as he seems talented, but maybe a little raw in coverage.

Nick Reid LB 6'3 230- quality LB prospect. Played well in both the run and pass game, so could be an every down type who could eventually start. Thinking around a 3rd or 4th rounder as he did look a little thin and probably has good, but not outstanding pure speed.

Charlton Keith DE 6'5 230- Extremely athletic edge player. Very impressive game. Really thin for position and will need to bulk up. Could be a 3-4 convert. Did not start the year on anyone’s radar, but expect him to climb to a 3rd/4th round as developmental pass rusher. A player to watch.

Kansas has several senior players who have been productive as small quick players that could be FA types that I did not watch closely enough for more than a mention

Tim Allen DT 6'1 290

Theo Baines CB 5'11 190

Banks Floodman LB 6'3 230

Kevin Kane LB 6'1 225

Good stuff coolnerd. Keep in mind, Reid was the best defender in the Big XII this year.

Guys, I want to recommend Charlton Keith. I was ridiculously impressed by him in this game, and I even remembered his name. Normally, that wouldn't mean much, but I caught the parts of this game I saw in an ICU waiting area - with my mom in ICU. Every time we had to leave her room to go to the lounge it seemed like Kansas was on D, and he was making a play. I do seem him as a likely NFL OLB, but I don't watch much college football to know if that is the right translation.

Agreed. All the articles I've read have pimped this kid due to his performance. Nick Reid seems to have taken a backseat temporarily, but I would be interested in hearing how he did.

Most importantly, I wish the best for your mother. On Reid, he played a very good football game, that was just overshadowed by a more electric one. Reid was used on the blitz, in pass covereage and held his ground against the run. He not appear out of position nor missed any plays that he should have made. Very good football player.

Thanks for the thoughts, coolnerd. I did notice Reid, but Keith jumped out at me. Once I heard that Reid was the big XII player of the year on D, I mentally stopped watching him, because he's a known quantity.
