My opinions on this topic are known. I think he's a decent back who capitalized on a lack of competition. Cutler's presence should help him this season, but Kevin Jones might eat into his workload a little bit:
"Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner said RB Kevin Jones will have a pretty good role as RB Matt Forte's backup. Turner said, "He'll just be a guy to spell [starter] Matt [Forte] in our base package. He's quicker, he's faster, playing with more confidence. He's not tentative on the knee or anything. He's had a great offseason. He's going to be productive for us. He's going to have a pretty good role." Turner has used a two-back system before, with former Bears RB Thomas Jones carried 296 times in 2006 while former RB Cedric Benson had 157 carries."
"It's officially time for Bears fans to get excited about Kevin Jones. Sure, Matt Forte is already one of the elite backs in this league and could threaten the 1,500-yard mark on the ground this year if he's healthy, but Jones came back to Chicago as a free agent in part because he was promised a bigger role on offense. That looks to be the case, as the former first-round draft pick ripped off several impressive runs, including a blast-off down the right sideline that he took all the way to the house to the delight of the 8,000 or so in attendance at Ward Field. ... "
"(KFFL) Jeff Dickerson, of ESPNChicago.com, reports Chicago Bears RB Kevin Jones has been one of the top standouts so far in training camp. "
"(Rotoworld) According to Bears beat writer Vaughn McClure, backup RB Kevin Jones' "burst is back."
Analysis: Only positive reports have come out of Bears camp on Jones, who figures to spell Matt Forte a little more often this year. Jones has also lost some weight and will be a must-have handcuff to Forte."
I've been guilty of overhyping KJ in the past, but he's a decent back when healthy and he could cut into Forte's FF value enough to make a dent.
