Per Rotoworld:

Bears LG Frank Omiyale has been removed from the starting lineup in favor of Josh Beekman. This is probably how Chicago should've started the season, but it was hard for GM Jerry Angelo to admit his $14 million mistake on Omiyale. Beekman is a better run blocker and should help create holes for Matt Forte. Omiyale can play four positions on the line and is best suited as a versatile sub.
The source is Brad Biggs (Bears Sun Times beat reoprter who usually has a solid handle on what's going on). If you were on the fence and didn't have better options this week, this might make it a little easier to start Forte.

Thanks for the info.

I was watching breakdown of Bears line blocking highlighted on NFL.com

They pointed out how Pace is getting destroyed on run downs as well as the left guard.

Pace is still a problem I think and gives extra problems to the guard playing next to him. Pace may be a good pass blocker still but is getting destroyed physicly on run downs.

Will see if this move at LG helps. IIRC Bears fans were saying it would weeks ago.

I'd move Forte after this week. I can't imagine he won't have a good game against the Browns, but he's just not that good of a player to begin with.

Mediocre talent + terrible o-line = major bust. Now when you consider Cutler doesn't dump it off to his rb's and this guy is a player to sell ASAP.

this is the biggest issue i have with Forte's role this season. last season he was very involved in the passing game but this season, if he doesnt get the handoff, you can pretty much ignore him now. cutler needs to do a better job of using all his weapons, but he has too much gunslinger mentality.

Forte's still catching 3 balls/game. The weapons around him at WR have improved. Only natural his catches will go down.

What Forte needs to do is run the ball. They shouldn't feed him for the sake of keeping up with his pace last year when he was the only weapon with Hester/Olsen learning the ropes.

Guy in my keeper league traded Forte and Andre Johnson for Sproles and Cotchery. I should note that only Sproles out of those 4 can be kept next year.

You could easily argue Cutler IS doing a better job of using his weapons. Hester is quite a weapon and he appears to spread it out between the others.Orton wouldn't/couldn't get it to Hester (a guy who is quite a weapon) and wouldn't do much more than dump it off to Forte time after time after time. Forte isn't terrible but he really isn't as good a weapon as all of last year's touches warranted. It's not like Orton was constantly dumping it off to LT or Faulk in their prime. Forte's yard per catch were nothing special (for proof that mega talented rb's can succeed on lousy teams see SJax). Forte was slightly above average - he just got touch after touch after touch. Heck, if I could stay healthy (okay, that's doubtful) and you gave me enough touches I probably wouldn't average more than 2 ypc but if I got the ball enough times I'd even be serviceable in the world of fantasy. Forte imo is nothing more than a middling talent who was in the perfect situation last year because he was the only player the quarterback was capable of utilizing on a consistent basis. Now they have a quarterback who CAN actually take advantage of the other weapons on the team.

:X :o :P :loco:  :goodposting: I don't believe in vetoing any trade unless it's clear collusion but that's bizarre enough of a deal I'd take a close look at it as a commish.

Now you why the Rams let Pace go. How could the Bears possibly think Pace can still play at a high level is beyond me.

The other interesting (frustrating/sad) thing is that if you read the article referenced, Biggs puts up some stats about "sacks allowed" - Pace is on... well, pace, to give up 7 sacks this year - that is not only the highest on the O-line this season, but would be 2nd highest between John St. Clair (10) and John Tate (6) last year. When looking at those numbers, also keep in mind that Cutler is more mobile than Orton.

I agree here. Not sure why everyone is so down on Forte in the passing game. He has 22 catches through 6 games this year. That puts him on pace for 59 catches on the season and this includes a 0 catch day in week 1. Over the past 5 games he's averaged 4.4 catches per game for a pace of 70 catches for the season. Last year he had 64.The real problem is that he can't run the ball, especially near the goal line. You'd hope if he's only going to rush for 40-50 yards per game that he'd sprinkle in a TD from time to time. But that isn't happening.

While the line still didnt look great yesterday, I did find it interesting that most of Forte's success came running behind Beekman. The guy may be on the smaller size, but he can run block.

Meanwhile, Olin Kreutz continues to just get man-handled week after week. Rodgers tossed him around like a rag doll yesterday.
