Forte... (1 Viewer)

I admit, I didn't see a lot of Chi games last year...watched the game last night. Forte just looked slow to me, with no burst. Was he just in a good situation last year?...For PPR leagues..any concern that he wasn't even targeted? Did Cutler totally change Forte's value?..discuss

I was a little confused by Chicago's playcalling - the Bears receivers were killing Cutler, and Green Bay was bringing heavy pressure, so you would think a few screens Forte's way would have worked well. I think I saw only one pass go Forte's way; he motioned to the slot once, I think, but that was pretty much it

Witnessed the same thing. I think Forte excels when he is using his excellent vision and trying to weave through holes. Those expecting to see an Adrian Petersonesque burst will be disappointed.I think Forte will be fine with the threat of Cutler's arm. Green Bay looks like a pretty good defense this year. The lack of receptions is alarming, but I think that works itself out soon enough. They'll have to use more screens if their pass protection doesn't improve.

:goodposting:

but he's also in a good situation this year with Jones getting hurt. He'll have his games but he'll get a ton of touches and nearly all the rush TDs. I thought he'd get a lot fewer receptions since Cutler looks downfield instead of the checkdown all day. I don't think he's all that talented but he should still be fine this year.

:IBTL: It appeared to me that this was a poor job of play calling all around. They didn't try to establish the run at all in the first half. When the Packers were running 8 in the box, and blitzing, Forte could have had some nice gains in swing passes, or as you said, screens. Ron Turner, the Bears offensive coordinator, takes a lot of blame for this loss. He did a very poor job.It does not bode well for Forte's value, over the course of the season, that he didn't catch a single pass. I was extremely disappointed.

How many targets did he see?

During the game, one thing that was alarming.

All the reps, and game time he got last year was the most for a RB.

Those drafting him expecting the same amount of opportunities after bringing in a high priced QB will be disappointed.

Not that he can't have a great year, but he is going to have to do it with less opportunities now.
