A new option that might suit me better would be to go back to 5-6% and go for 55k raise. I don't know if I can get him that high but it would allow me to pay down some debt, sock away some cash thus relieving some stress and leave me an easier exit to either do my own thing or go elsewhere.

His brother told him he was out of line. I decided not to go that route because he wasn't going to go that high on salary anyway so why drop the percentage and weaken my position?
