Frank Gore v. Jets (1 Viewer)

FBGs have him ranked #13 this week. I just don't see him having success against the Jets. He'll struggle against a good Jets run D, and I can't see Hill and co. making things easier for him. So, how benchable is he this week? How are others treating the situation this week?

Mangini has been running a very passive rush three nickel or dime defense lately. Hopefully, he got hit in the head with a hammer and will go back to a standard 3-4 defense this week. IF he does, Gore has a bad week. IF he doesn't, Gore runs wild the way Hillis did last week against the Jets. The question is: How stupid is Mangini? Play Gore if you think he's a moron. I would play Gore.

Gore was likely your first round pick in a redraft league. You sink or swim with those guys. I say he's unbenchable, excepting injury.

Most of Gore's damage will be done in the passing game. if you get ppr and yardage, he's a no brainer start.

I'm surprised he's ranked that low. I have not been on board with FBG's rankings of Gore the past few weeks. I have thankfully benched him the past two weeks. I love Gore, but this team has no identity right now. The situation is too inconsistent for me and the match up this week just solidifies it for me. I will be going with TJones and CJohnson and benching Gore again.

Peyton freakin Hillis ran all over the Jets and should have had another TD that was called back. Don't overthink this...start Gore with confidence!

Even Mangini will figure out that everybody beats the Niners by stopping Gore. Not like they have any WR's that will strike fear in your heart. Denver has a credible threat of a passing game, that's why Hillis did well, the Jets did not respect him. They won't make that mistake with Gore.In week 9 Jamaal freakin Charles put up 106 rushing against Tampa. Guess what ADP did the next game against Tampa... 19/85/0.Every good defense has a fluke game from time to time. That was the only 100 yd game by a RB against NYJ all season. And only the 4th time a RB got over 50 yds on them.Good luck with Gore.

Over thinking is as bad as not thinking at all. It was my Jets homerism that made me make the snide remark about Mangini. If the Jets come out in a passive D scheme... Mangini should be fired. I do not expect Mangini to repeat his mistakes agaisnt Denver. Gore is a risky start.

If you have another pretty good, healthy starter I guess you have the luxury of choosing to bench Gore this week. I don't. I have options, but not great ones. The matchup isn't spectacular for Gore but he is a great player and capable of putting up numbers in any game. Dunno if he'll do it this time, but I am relying on him all the way.

Considering I drafted Jacobs as my RB2, got CJ3 in a later round, and picked up Slaton off the WW, I beg to differ. As a matter of fact, Gore hasn't seen my lineup since Week 11 and it's more than likely that he won't see it again until Week 16.

I have Frank Gore in a first-place 14-team PPR league. I'm starting him this week, even though I have Le'Ron McClain on the bench, who has been receiving 20+ carries the past couple weeks.

Gore is making a home start after a bad game against a hot / cold NY Jet team. I love when I survive a previous week without the best efforts of my star players. It just unreasonable to expect your players to have 150 yards 1-2 TD week-in week-out.

Gore is probably sitting on a big one this week.

14-team league (10 - 3 / First Place)

Point-per-Catch

QB: Aaron Rodgers

WR: TJ Houshmandzadej

WR: Antonio Bryant

WR: Bernard Berrian

WR: Dominick Hickson

WR: DeSean Jackson

WR: Nate Washington

RB: Frank Gore

RB: Matt Forte

RB: Le'Ron McClain

TE: Heath Miller

DEF: Tampa Bay

DEF: Arizona

K: Matt Stover

I agree with you. It's even harder to bench him being a Niners fan but I think he has a pedestrian day at best. Thankfully I've clinched my division and have the #2 seed. I also have the luxury of being able to start Forte,Hillis and Slaton this week. Geez,I just noticed I'm startin' 3 friggin' rookies. Well, they have the best opportunties to produce for me this week. As much as it pains me to say it I don't think the Jets are gonna play against the 9ers this week as bad as they played against the Broncos last week. We did sneak in a pitiful 10 points and a win in Buffalo :wall:

I think I will be benching Gore this week and starting Thomas Jones and Michael Turner although in the back of my mind I cant stop thinking about last weekend and Hillis running against the Jets.

Gore has SEVEN receptions over the past 4 games, all against less-than-stellar defenses.
This is what I've noticed too, the lack of involvement in the passing game. I'm fortunate that I have LJ and Marshawn as options. Right now I plan to ride with them and Gore is on my bench.

I have Gore, CJ3, and SJax. I am in a 1 ppr league and Gore has been ok the last 4 weeks. Now that SJax is back I am thinking about sticking Gore on the bench and putting Matt Jones in at the flex against a bad Chicago secondary. I know if I do it Gore will have a good day. He just is not involved in the passing game any longer. I thought Martz was going to take this guy to the next level. Matt jones over Gore it is. CJ3 and SJax at the RB position.

I know what you are saying. I'm thinking of benching Gore and starting Colston (flex) and Lance Moore against the Falcons. If I do this I will be rolling with Lynch and CJ3 over Gore at RB.

This I agree with. Many people here point to Hillis last week, but the fact is that the Jets still have the 4th best run defense behind Pit, Minny and Baltimore. Seems to me this is not a good rushing matchup for Gore and more than likely (especially when the Martz factor is included) SF will be throwing the ball this week. If you get PPR he is probably a very good start. If you are banking on tons of yards and TD's, not necessarily.

The Jets get David Harris back this week. He's been out for a while, and he's ready to go now. He's their 2nd best run defender behind Kris Jenkins. I expect the staff to learn from last week's mistake and go back to puting 4 LB's on the field. If you have other options, i'd consider benching Gore. The Jets run D is good when their coaching staff does what should be done.

People here keep bringing up Hillis' name. I have a feeling they did not watch the game last week. Denver spread the field with receivers which caused the Jets to go into a nickel coverage and Hillis was able to find seams. This was done while Denver's passing game kept the Jet defense honest. I don't see the same production coming from the 49er offense even if they spread the defense out.

The more I think about it the more I am leaning on now playing Gore. If you have made the playoffs with Gore on your team doing as badly as he has been doing, do you really want to sit him down for this game only to possibly watch him have a good game. I would hate to start a player in his place and have Gore outscore that player and loose my game by that margin. I have to go with Gore and hope for the best.

:goodposting: Thanks for this info. I don't have the luxury of watching many games, so I look to Shark Pool posts like this (and the <plug>Audible podcasts </plug> ) for "beyond the box scores" insight.

I have Barber, Gore and Westy.

Barber with his toe "thing" AT Pitt is a match up I don't want any part of!! matter of fact, I'd go with Hightower vs the Rams before Barber but I just can't bench Gore or Westy for him.

I'm rolling with Gore and Westy.

doesn't really matter anyway, my playoff spot won't change win or lose.

This sucks!! I got Gore and Grant currently slotted at RB. My Backups are Ricky Williams, Brandon Jackson, Derrick Ward, & Maurice Morris.

Now I don't even know whether to keep Gore or not. I'm leaning towards benching him but the problem is he was really disappointed in HIMSELF last week and he is gonna come out CHARGED UP to redeem himself. Players with his talent and a vendetta to boot scares me if I decide to bench him.

I guess I'll just have to go along for the ride. Just makes me sick

The Niners opened up with a ton of passes vs. DAL knowing that secondary can be had. And they were successful at it too, just bogged down with 2 FGs inside the 5-yd line, and got blown out. I dont thik the Niners get blown out in this game. I wont be surprised if Martz opens the game with a lot pass plays against the Jets secondary which has been bottom-5. As a Gore owner, I hope this would open things up for Gore.
