Frank Gore.....why isn't he getting any love? (1 Viewer)

I think i'm rating Gore higher than most are.

Even with his problems last year he finished 12th in our PPR league.

I see people discussing taking LT and others at #4, shouldn't Gore be in

this discussion?

Just looking for some opinions, etc.

I LOVE Gore this year.

It seems clear from the outset that SF is simply going to wear him out this year. He can catch the ball out of the backfield and because the SF QB situation is what it is...I expect alot of checkdowns.

Jimmy Raye, the SF OC has said he wants to run it 60% of the time. Whether they actually do that...it's probably overstated. However, I could see ascenario on the top end where Gore approaches 400 touches.

I think he's gold in the late 1st, early 2nd and on my rankings I had him 5th overall.

I have the 4th pick in my big league, and I am strongly looking at Gore.

I think people are under-rating the 49ers this year. I think this team will compete with Singletary as its leader.

Hill will be adequate for the run first SF offense this season, and even with Coffee providing some relief, Gore could easily put up 1800 yards from scrimmage and 12 TDs.

Last season, SF had QB issues, a coaching change, a change in offensive schemes with the pass first Martz leaving.

Gore missed 2 games last year, and was dinged for a few others, and still as the original poster noted, he had a very solid year finishing 12th in PPR leagues.

If he's healthy, his numbers definitely improve from last season.

Even in standard leagues, I don't think he is a reach at pick 4, 5 or 6.

I see he is being taking at an ADP between 12-15 right now and I don't get it.

Not sure if it is the WR frenzy this year, or big years of rookie RBs last season, but this guy is the Feature back on a team that will run a lot this season.

310/1420/10

46/420/4

I'm taking him at 4 over Turner, Jackson, and D.Williams as of now.

I am very high on Gore this year as well. He went at 2.03 in my 12team PPR league - huge value IMO (the owner went Moss then nabbed Gore, great start).

I don't see a scenario where he is lower than RB10 if healthy, with upside of top 3.

As a loyal "U" fan I just want to chime in that I am surprised Gore has made it even this far. He went down at least twice and maybe even a 3rd time with ACL tears over both knees. I love Gore and he was one of the most highly recruited RBs in Miami history pushing guys like Portis and McGahee to make the jump to the NFL as quickly as possible when they had their window of opp.

Having said all that I like Coffee 12 rounds later over Gore in the 1st. I think if you draft Gore, you must reach a round or two early and get Coffee in the 10th. I encourage everyone to implement one of Pasquino's golden rules. You get the clear back up about the 10th round to back the play of you RB1 in the 1st, it just makes sense to pay a little insurance on a guy with the medical folder of Gore. He has not had a real significant injury since coming into the NFL, now he is being looked at for 300+ carries, I want the back up so I can sleep easy at night.

Just make sure you get Coffee as well. I'm usually not a huge fan of handcuffing, but this one seems a no-brainer. I have Gore and did just that.

Before my draft I wrestled over and over again who I would take at the 10th spot if Gore and Slaton were both on the board.

And as I predicted it happened, both were available. As much as I like Slaton, Gore edged him out in my book. I knew that Singletary

will have O flow through Gore and he will get the GL touches. I wasn't sure about Slaton last week getting GL touches and as much as people

talk about Brown being brittle you just never know as he may hold up during the season.

Playing in the NFC West is also another reason I'm high on him and if does go down you probably won't lose much if you handcuff Coffee.

With Slaton there is no clear handcuff if he goes down. They were very close in my rankings but I just like Gore's potential and feel like he's

going to be on a terror mission this year.

Can't believe this guy fell to me at 2.07. I've got him paired with MJD in the backfield. That's great value. Barring injury he should have a solid year.

Niner homer here.

Coffee is way too talented to just be used as occasional relief. As much as I love Gore, with Coffee in there, Gore won't have to play banged up like has has almost every game the past couple seasons. When he gets hurt (note I said when, not if) I can see him sitting out some games that he would've just toughed out last year.

Gore at 2.10 was value to me yesterday in a PPR league. I was not able to land Coffee however, but that doesn't concern me at this point. If I filled all 5 of my allotted RB slots with handcuffs, I feel my team would be weaker overall.

Rotoworld is reporting a 17:6 split for Gore and Coffee which is fine, it just serves to keep Gore fresh and healthy which kinda diffuses your injury prediction. Also as far as Gore not toughing it out because of Coffee, Rotoworld touched upon this as well:

"Frank Gore continues to draw rave reviews from all parties involved at 49ers camp. Gore was dominant in blitz pickup drills on Tuesday, leading coach Mike Singletary to call him "exceptional." By all accounts Gore is in the best shape of his life and more motivated than ever (perhaps by the drafting of Glen Coffee). He's a solid late first-round, early second-round pick."

So Coffee could well indeed have the opposite effect on what your predicting and make Gore even hungrier to prove himself.

The guy simply hasn't scored enough touchdowns to be considered a very high draft pick, if you ask me. 23 touchdowns in three seasons doesn't scream "first round pick" to me. I know the past is not an indicator of future results, but Gore simply doesn't get in the end zone enough. He should be good for yardage and a fair amount of catches, but as someone who insists that their first round pick always be someone who scores double digits TDs, Gore simply doesn't fit the bill.
