I am thinking about aquiring Frank Gore but I am not sure if I should. I thought he woudl have a big year and he started out like wild-fire. Then he had a rib injury and then started losing goal-line carries to a guy that was not even a RB in college. I know this weekend he looked good but dbeing behind they did not give him a lot of carries.

So I ask anyone that is a 49er fan or has had a better eye on the situation then I have is the rib injury OK and is he no longer getting the goal-line carries?

I think that Gore will be fine, health wise, and should be very productive in yardage leagues.

Michael Robinson has shown to be the more effective goal line back, so he will vulture amny of Gore's touchdowns.

Robinson has done nothing impressive in short-yardage since Gore's fourth fumble. In the red-zone the 49ers have opted to throw the ball than go with either Gore or Robinson. In the meantime, Gore's YPC have been very good, and he hasn't fumbled again. His schedule gets a lot nicer after Minnesota, and I can see him becoming very valuable to teams making a playoff push.

I would be shocked if they go back to Gore at the goaline. Nothing is more deflating to a team than to drive the length of the field, only to have a fumble inside the five.Until Robinson fumbles or repeatedly gets stuffed, why would they change anything?

Robinson has repeatedly been stuffed since the Philidelphia game that's my point. They've already started throwing more in the red zone, so things have already changed. As the schedule eases, I think the 49ers take the opportunity to let Gore gain his confidence back so he can become the complete back he can be.Edited to add:

I really don't think Michael Robinson is a threat to Gore's goal-line looks. If anyone is, it is the coaching staff, but I have to believe that a rebuilding team would want to give their main back every opportunity to become an every-down back.

I've watched every snap this season for the Niners and Trap Play is correct in saying that Robinson hasn't been impressive since his 2 TD performance. I would still expect to see Robinson as the GL back after the bye, but I could easily see Nolan giving Gore goal line duties if Robinson is not punching in the short TDS soon.

XThose who watched the last Niners game saw that Robinson looked entirely unimpressive and ineffective in short yardage. He is far from having locked up short yardage duties (and I really think that if Gore can distance himself from the fumbles and rebuild his confidence, he'll eventually be an animal at the goal line).
