could there be a worse possible time

(KFFL)Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis, a pending free agent, is facing a six-game drug suspension, according to a league source. He has previously served a suspension for marijuana use.

What a stupid move...I know this happens a lot, but if losing your job is not a red flag prior to hitting free agency, I am not sure what is. I almost get someone like Blackmon as he has a false sense of security that he would get scooped in a minute if he hit the open market...Mr. Davis? Not so much.

I was gonna have a NFL career

but then I got high

I was gonna play for years

but then I got high

Now I'm dropping fries and I know whyyyyyyyy

Because I got high

Because I got high

Because I got high

Career - OVER!

The Washington Post reports suspended free agent TE was arrested and charted with DUI in Fairfax County, Va. on Thursday.

A sad situation has taken a turn for the unbelievable. According to reporter Mike Jones, Davis was arrested at 3:45 PM Thursday afternoon. Already indefinitely suspended, it's fair to wonder if Davis will ever play another NFL down even though he's only 28. Davis has to get his personal life in order before he can even think about mounting a comeback.

I ran into him last offseason in Vegas. He was almost fully recovered from his Achilles injury, and he had just signed a one year deal with the Redskins. We hung out for a few hours, getting drinks and hopping from bar to bar. He didn't say anything that made me think that he had totally misunderstood the importance of hard work, but the dude definitely had some screws loose. I asked him if he was going to "pull a Martellus Bennett (perform at a high level on a one year deal and cash in big the following offseason)." He looked me dead in the eye and sternly said, "I'm better than Martellus Bennett." It was evident that he put too much stock in the idea that his god-given ability gave him a competitive advantage. It's too bad that he couldn't figure out that he needed to stay out of trouble and dedicate himself to his profession.

For kicks, I'll also share that he asked me who the Bears' QB was (I told him I was from Chicago). I guess that's not as bad as Tannehill not knowing the teams in his own division, but it's still pretty shocking.

From Rotoworld:

Free agent TE Fred Davis has been reinstated by the NFL and is free to sign with any team.
Davis was suspended indefinitely in February of 2014 for repeated violations of the league's substance abuse policy. Since then, he's had brushes with the law regarding a DUI and domestic violence. Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon should be asking Davis how he got back into the league so soon. Davis, now 29 years old and four years removed from a productive season, will be lucky to make a 53-man roster. He does have a history with new Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan, and Atlanta needs tight end talent.

Smart move, putting him in the same locker room as Blount. What could go wrong?

I know that winning at all costs is the mantra in NE, but with Hernandez, Deflategate, Spygate, you'd think they would steer clear of low-character players.

This signing reminds me of Ochocinco, Haynesworth, etc. No real value at this point in his career, bad attitude, he's not going to provide any value whatsoever to the Pats. They continue to win despite these boneheaded moves.

Davis, Chandler, et al are precisely the short and intermediate targets that fit this offense as Brady's arm strength continues to ebb.
