sorry if this is a honda... did a search and didn't find it.

here is a little piece from the website

The plane door flew open at around 6,000 feet, causing panic and prayer before the pilot landed at a nearby runway.

"I thought that was it," Taylor said Monday following the final day of Jacksonville 's three-day minicamp. "I put my head down and started praying. The runway was about two miles away, but it seemed like it took 10 or 15 minutes to get there."

Taylor joked that it was the first time he felt like he was near death "since I was playing for (coach Tom) Coughlin."

6000 ain't bad. It's like opening a window in Denver. I've had a plane door open on me at 10,000. Of course I was wearing a parachute at the time. I wouldn't expect more than loose materials flying around inside the cabin, I doubt there was explosive decompression or anything.

Agreed, a very good friend of mine pilots a plane for a drop zone and I have flown dozens of times with him while making drops. Fly up too 13,500, 21 parachutist jump out of the side roll up door and it is nose first too the ground without closing the door where we safely land before the last parachutist lands. Although I can see if your unsuspecting and a door flys off it would scare the hell out of you

Usually cabins are only pressurised for flights over 12000 ft IIRC

If you didn't know a lot about airplanes and you don't have a parachute on and that happened to you, you would crap yourself and you know it!!!

why is it you only hear about taylor in this story? lito sheppard and samari rolle were there too.

edit for grammar

It's written unclearly. You can't tell if Fred was talking to the other folks on the plane about the Safari he took at another time with Rolle and Sheppard, who stayed behind OR if he was talking with Rolle and Sheppard about the safari they all went on.

Given his fragile nature, I don't know if exposure to wild animals is exactly the best idea for Fred.

Glad that all are okay, though, natch.

I thought this too, but
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 15, 2007) -- Jaguars running back Fred Taylor boarded the single-propeller, 15-seat plane in Africa, chatting about the safari he had just been on with Samari Rolle, Lito Sheppard and their wives.

A few minutes later, the group shared another unforgettable experience.
That's really the only line that seems to indicate they were all together.

Why is Taylor able to joke about it and not get reprimanded by over sensitive geeks? Poor taste! Shame on Him!
Um... because he's not saying he wished injury/death on someone like the MJD comment implies. Whether intended as a joke or not, it just isn't funny.

It is amazing at times. When I first read it I chuckled. I knew there would be some soap boxes dusted off.

Maybe now Fred will now get his life priorities straight -- retire back to Belle Glade, enjoy his kids, and let MJD carry the load!

If Taylor can make jokes about the incident, I think it is safe for us to do so as well.

Seriously. Taylor didn't 'almost die'. He wasn't even injured. Lighten up people.
