I'm in a sim league, which isn't like a fantasy league where the results are based around real live games. Instead, they're based on ZiPs projections and the season is simmed.

We're doing our free agency process and my team lost out on a starting pitcher, but I might have an opportunity to deal Freddie Freeman for Michael Pineda. Assume both cost the same and would be under the same amount of team control for six years.

Pound for pound, who would you rather have going forward?

I'd rather have Freeman. To produce like he did at 21 is impressive.

I'm not a huge Pineda fan in a sim-based league. He's going to give up lots of HRs in NY and his ERA/FIP will probably be mediocre. In roto, he'll make up for that with a ton of Ws and Ks and a decent WHIP, but that doesn't help you.

I agree with the concerns about Pineda's HR/9 rate.

How many teams are in your league? I like Freeman but I don't know if he has enough power upside to be top tier at a relatively deep position.

Freeman's power is a big concern. With the 1B still available, I can keep patching 1B for a long time or when A-Ram slides over.My rotation currently consists of Vance Worley, Ervin Santana (who ZiPs hates), Juan Nicasio and (if I sign him) Wei-Yin Chen. Pineda makes that legit. He's gotta go for it, though.
