In the late 90s and early 00s, a group of us belonged to a LISTSERV (remember those?) called The Battle of Gettysburg Discussion Group. We were in fact interested in a lot of things besides that one particular American Civil War battle, but Gettysburg fascinates casuals in a way that no other battle can. It's a very special place.

I digress. We used to meet up every fall for a thing called Battlefield Walks. That's where you walk a specific part of a battlefield to talk about a very specific action involving very specific units (division/brigade/regiment.) Out of the those fall Walks two things emerged: The Fall Muster at Gettysburg and the Military History Online Fantasy Football League, or MHO FF. The GDG (LISTSERV above) evolved into a discussion forum, MHO, which is still active today. From the Fall Muster many lifelong friendships were formed; as happens in life, a lot of those folks drifted away or moved on.

The first two years we were at 10 Teams. We have been a 12 Team league for every year except 2020 (COVID.) Two folks didn't return this year: a 5-year vet upstate who isn't returning calls/emails/texts, and a 1-year member who didn't do so well in his rookie year with us.

Current roster setup: 1 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE,1 Flex, K, DST, 6 bench, 2 IR

QB WR WR WR RB RB TE FLEX (W/R/T) K DST BN BN BN BN BN BN BN BN

14 Week season, playoffs Weeks 15-17. Six Playoff Teams, Top 2 receive a BYE.

Any questions feel free to shoot me a DM or post here. Happy to send you the league settings + league scoring settings.
  • Live Online Draft Sunday August 28 at 11 am EDT. Our draft has been the 4th Sunday in August/weekend before Labor Day for 10+ years. This year that falls after Week 3 of the preseason schedule (actually 4 of the teams will play their last PS game that afternoon.) We'll randomize the Draft Order after we find the last 2 managers.
  • Waiver Type: FAB w/ Weekly rolling standings tiebreak. Players are locked Game Time until Tuesday.
  • Passing TDs are 4 points
  • Fumbles lost & INTs are -2 points
  • Full PPR
  • Trades are Commish review (have never had an objectionable trade, we have a No Floaters Allowed policy)
The league has a strong ethos of you play all the way through. If you're not winning it you can still be a spoiler. Lot of pride.

Currently we have two Founders (18 years), one 17 year member, one 16 year member, old FNG just joined 12 years ago, new FNG is going into Y8. Couple more fellows have been around 5 years. Basically, the last 4 spots have been kind of a turnover machine. There were some folks upset about players kneeling and whatnot back in 2017 and I've been going through the tedious exercise of recruiting 2-4 every year since. One of the folks who left back in the Kaepernick controversy was our league founder, a painter, rocker, and Yinzer who handed me the reigns a decade ago. He was the coolest and I've also been a hands off Commish. It's easy to be that way when you have good people.

This here used to be a point of pride, of late it's been just pure pain every summer. I don't like recruiting TBH but part of my role is making sure that No Floaters is an actual thing.
