Free agent/Trade TRACKING THREAD (1 Viewer)

comfortably numb

Footballguy
Any interest in a thread to track all the FA/Trade listings?

This was the easiest list I could pull of FA's or likely players to move. (Stole it from this dude)

I can add/remove anyone, who should or should not be one here, just let me know.

Will do my best to update once the craziness starts.

If you see a signing or trade, link me to a column with years and money and I will try to update.

Arian Foster Running Back 2011: $480,000, 2012: Restricted Free Agent
Not sure, just stole the list...could it be his blurb?Arian Foster reiterated that he is not concerned with his contract despite being due just $480,000 this year.

Set to play on an exclusive rights tender for the third-year NFL minimum, Foster is the most underpaid player in pro football. "I can't worry about that," he said. "I am tied to the Texans as an exclusive rights free agent and I know they'll take care of me." Foster possesses little leverage, but he'd have a very good argument if he held out of training camp ala Ryan Grant two years ago. It appears we don't have to worry about Foster missing any time.

He will get a new deal I assume, but, yea, he is not going anywhere and probably should not be on this list

The guy had Foster on the list, but Manning out...I will remove Foster.

Reallllly liking the available CBs. I hope Detroit can make a splash at one or two top tiered ones to shore up our secondary. Some

nice safeties, and LBs too. This should be a REALLY fun month or so once the gates are opened...

didn't Woodley sign his franchise tender? is that nullified now?
Think you're right, found this

2/23/2011: Signed a one-year, $10.091 million contract. The deal is fully guaranteed
Just found this on ESPN from 2/23
PITTSBURGH -- Linebacker LaMarr Woodley has signed Pittsburgh's one-year franchise tender offer, the Steelers announced on Wednesday. Woodley becomes the first player to sign a franchise tender. The players' union has questioned the validity of franchise and transition tags with the current collective bargaining agreement set to expire at the end of the day on March 3. In the final season of his rookie contract, Woodley, 26, made $550,000. But next season, he'll stand to make more than $10 million because of the tag and his position. The Steelers could also sign him to a long-term contract.

Lawrence Vickers, FB, Browns. RFA that didn't get tendered pre-lockout.

Remove Derrick Ward, he already signed a 1 year contract for 2011.

Add Jacoby Jones.

Remove Owen Daniels, he signed a 4 year contract in March.

Add Rashad Butler to Offensive Tackles.

Add Kasey Studdard to Guards.

Add Shaun Cody to Defensive Tackles.

Add Mark Anderson to Defensive Ends.

Nice thread...hope they pin it. It's going to be Fast and Furious (apparently Cecil Lamy's fave movie of all time).

This is like that first cool breeze of the Fall...you can just SMELL it coming.

Add DT Barry Cofield Giants

I think T Willie Colon Steelers is a FA as well.

Reggie Bush, others on shaky ground

By John Clayton

ESPN.com

Getting under the salary cap wasn't much of a problem for NFL teams before the uncapped year of 2010.

The cap was going up $7 million a year. Many teams stayed to their budgets and had excess cap room. At the end of the 2009 season, 32 teams had $163 million of unused cap space.

Once the collective bargaining agreement is signed and the league is up and operating, teams have to return to the days of getting under the cap. The 2011 cap is going to be at $120 million, and there figure to be several cap casualties, particularly because the 2009 cap was at $128 million.

Let's review 10 players of interest.

1. New Orleans Saints RB Reggie Bush: The Saints want to keep him. Bush says he wants to stay. The numbers just don't work. Bush is scheduled to make $11.8 million this year and has a bloated $16 million cap number. The Saints have $11.7 million of cap room. Something has to give. They also have 26 unrestricted free agents. Cutting or trading him would free up $12.5 million. Sure, Bush could restructure, but would he do that knowing that teams such as Philadelphia, St. Louis and Tampa Bay might be willing to give him a nice long-term deal? Probably not.

2. Minnesota Vikings WR Bernard Berrian: The Vikings grabbed him from the Chicago Bears at a $7 million-a-year price, but younger receivers such as Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice moved ahead of Berrian. He has a $6.258 million cap number. Cutting him saves the team $3.7 million, and the Vikings are more than $5 million over the cap. His chances of staying may be helped if Rice leaves, but Berrian still might have to restructure to stay.

3. San Francisco 49ers CB Nate Clements: This one is interesting. He's the league's first $10 million-a-year cornerback. He has struggled in the past couple of years, and now he has a $17.36 million cap number. There are some people in San Francisco who believe the 49ers might consider signing Nnamdi Asomugha. Releasing Clements frees up $14 million. If he stays, he'll have to take a pay cut.

4. Green Bay Packers LB Nick Barnett: Barnett has been hoping for a trade and he should get one. He has a $6.9 million cap number, and releasing or trading him would save the Packers a much-needed $4.2 million. The Packers also would free up $4.581 million if they release tackle Mark Tauscher.

5. Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young: Young isn't a cap casualty. He's a casualty of his spats with former Titans coach Jeff Fisher. The organization convinced owner Bud Adams to let the quarterback go. Freeing Young would clear up close to $12.8 million of cap room.

6. Baltimore Ravens RB Willis McGahee: The trade for McGahee didn't work out. What worked out was drafting Ray Rice and finding out he was a stud. McGahee has an $8.5 million cap number. Releasing or trading him frees up only $2.5 million, but the Ravens need all the cap dollars they can get to stay in the Super Bowl race.

7. Arizona Cardinals LB Joey Porter: The one-year experiment with Porter wasn't a success. The whole defense had a bad year. The Cardinals don't need cap room, but this looks like a relationship ready to split. He would save the team $4.66 million if he's cut.

8. Washington Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth: It's hard to believe the Redskins can save cap room by releasing or trading him after he signed a $100 million contract a couple of seasons ago. But they can save $3.4 million. Owner Daniel Snyder gave him a $21 million bonus last year to free up cap room for this season.

9. Cincinnati Bengals DE Antwan Odom: The last thing Bengals owner Mike Brown needs is more cap room. If Carson Palmer and Chad Ochocinco aren't on the roster, the payroll goes to $60 million, and Brown will be forced to spend $46.8 million just to reach the league's new cash floor. Odom showed flashes of being a great pass-rusher, but he struggled with injuries. He has a $6.3 million cap number and would save the team $2.9 million of cap room.

10. New York Giants G Shawn Andrews: The Giants gambled that Andrews could be a fix for the O-line, but unless he gives back a lot of money, he won't be a Giant. His cap number is $7.5 million and the Giants are more than $11 million over the cap. Releasing him frees up $7.333 million.

Top 20 undrafted free agents not loaded with sudden impact

By Gil Brandt NFL.com

Senior Analyst

The lockout has made this a difficult and trying offseason for college players who went undrafted. Rookie free agents are some of the players who benefit the most from the offseason team activities that take place in May and June. Because those didn't happen, it's unlikely an undrafted free agent this season will have the impact LeGarrette Blount had with the Buccaneers last season.

As you look over my list of the top 20 available UFAs, keep this in mind: The two positions that are the easiest to come in and play right away are running back and cornerback; the two most difficult are quarterback and wide receiver.

With running backs, the hardest thing they have to learn is blitz pick-up, but otherwise the learning curve is by far the easiest. With corners, the learning process is not as great as it is at other defensive positions. A guy who is athletic and knows how to break on the ball has the chance to play early.

It's difficult for receivers because of the multitude of coverages they see and the split-second decisions they have to make each down. And obviously, the learning curve for quarterbacks is extremely high. One thing going in their favor, however, is how much passing is dominating the game in college, so the transition is easier now than it was 10 years ago, as Sam Bradford showed last season.

Here are the top 20 undrafted free agents who will be snatched up in short order:

1. Pat Devlin, QB, Delaware: Has size needed to succeed at the position, to go with accuracy and football intelligence.

2. Mark Herzlich, LB, Boston College: His battle against cancer is well documented and speaks to his hunger to play. If healthy, he can play all downs.

3. Derrick Locke, RB, Kentucky: Has quickness and speed needed for success at running back.

4. DeAndre McDaniel, S, Clemson: Has all the traits needed to be a good safety.

5. Jake Kirkpatrick, C, TCU: A former high school basketball player who is strong and smart and has traits that remind some of Colts veteran Jeff Saturday.

6. Mario Fannin, RB, Auburn: Oustanding speed and pass-catching ability. Makes a lot of plays.

7. Nick Bellore, LB, Central Michigan: Very competitive linebacker. One of the all-time top tacklers in the MAC. Great special teams player.

8. Willie Smith, OT, East Carolina: Smart offensive tackle with long arms and good athletic ability. Excellent pass blocker.

9. Ray Dominguez, G, Arkansas: Strong guard who has the chance to start for someone in his second year.

10. Brandon Bair, DT, Oregon: Needs to add weight but has the frame to do so. Very active.

11. Sealver Siliga, DT, Utah: Strong at the point of attack and reminds some of another Utah product, Dolphins defensive tackle Paul Soliai.

12. Dane Sanzenbacher, WR, Ohio State: Slot receiver who will catch the ball across the middle and has outstanding hands.

13. Kendric Burney, CB, North Carolina: Lacks great speed but makes up for it with quickness and ball skills. Very good tackler.

14. John Clay, RB, Wisconsin: Strong, inside runner in the mold of Blount.

15. Ian Williams, DT, Notre Dame: A four-year starter at Notre Dame who is very strong and athletic.

16. Ricardo Lockette, WR, Fort Valley State: Teams love speed, and he is the fastest player available of all undrafted free agents.

17. Scott Tolzien, QB, Wisconsin: Smart quarterback with good but not great arm. Has been very successful with accuracy and ability to hit the right receivers.

18. Noel Devine, RB, West Virginia: Not tall, has great speed, production and hands. Possible WR/KR prospect.

19. Kyle Hix, OT, Texas: Long arms, very strong. Doesn't have good enough feet to play LT but could be good on right side.

20. Zach Hurd, G, Connecticut: He played guard at UConn but his best position might be as a RT because of his size and strength.

Reallllly liking the available CBs. I hope Detroit can make a splash at one or two top tiered ones to shore up our secondary. Somenice safeties, and LBs too. This should be a REALLY fun month or so once the gates are opened...
Detroit only has $16 mill, so unlikely they get 2 top tier CBs. I actually think LB is more of an urgent need. IMO it is much more likely they resign Houston and sign a top tier LB.

Tampa has so much money to spend
And they were such a good young team last year that exceeded expectations - if they can sign the right free agents, they could be poised for a nice run for the next few years!
They probably extend a guy like Freeman too, unless they already did and I missed it. Imagine signing Santonio and Nnamdi. Easily have the funds.....
Tampa has a great future ahead of them. IMO, the best young upcoming teams are clearly Detroit and Tampa Bay. So many good young players on both squads.

3. Derrick Locke, RB, Kentucky: Has quickness and speed needed for success at running back.
Locke can't play in the NFL until he has major back surgery which would put him out a year and bed-ridden for a good portion of that too.He can not pass an NFL physical.

Some team would have to sign him and wait.

He has 4.2 speed and probably would have been a very safe bet to think he'd be a very good return man in the NFL, but his body is smallish to be a sled-dog NFL RB. It's more likely that he'd have been a changeup sorta 3rd down back.

The Raiders loved him. Titans and Cincy were very interested and his choice of where to play.

What team is going to pay him to sit for a year?

He's in a very difficult spot.

Vikings have placed the non exclusive franchise tag on Greenway. Unlike Manning or Vick who received the exclusive tag, Greenway can negotiate with other teams. If he receives an offer, the Vikings can either match the other club's offer or receive two first-round draft choices as compensation.

I'm a little disappointed nothing has happened yet. It's like it's Christmas morning, I'm 7, there are all those presents there and I'm not allowed to go by the tree and nobody will tell me why or when I can. Get Kolb traded already so my boy Orton can go someplace and do what he does - win....

I might be in the minority but i would rather the Cards get orton for a second or third than trade RDC and a first or second....

I'm pretty sure BGE is a RFA since he only has 3 years in the league, Tolbert as well. Who put together this list? Mike Bush's agent has also admitted he's likely going to be restricted

3:00 EST and still no signings?
IIRC signing hasn't officially started I believe it's later in the week.
Well, after listening to Mike and Mike this morning say about 4,000 times that Schefter reported that teams could sign their own guys today and talk to anyone RFA's and discuss trades today as well. Turns out that was crap. I just read on ESPN that no signings can happen till tomorrow. They had nothing else to talk about this morning other than the Schefter report so they said over, and over and over and over and over again that they could sign guys today....
